So we are Catholic. We are not "supposed" to be doing ANY of this art stuff... Part of the deal with DH and myseld is we plan to go back and eventually transfer all our frosties. We are also not doing PGS right now, for various reasons. We also still kind of want a bigger family, like DH was thinking 2-3, I was thinking 3-5, but definitely more than one if possible, but even three would be a great middle ground if that were all that made it to the outside. Amazing!
So when we first got the 3, I knew that was no guarantee of 3 outside babies, and I'm not getting any younger, and we have the coverage right now, plus we had two frozen MESA samples from my husband, so we went for it!
The first time was 18, 10 mature, 6 fertilized, 3 frozen 4AA, 5AB, 5AA, if I remember the grading correctly, and again, no pgs information.
This time we had 21 collected, and 17 mature!!! 7 have fertilized and we will hear back on Saturday how many freeze.
Another 9 were also fertilized with ICSI, but they are "watching" them. So we will get another report on them tomorrow... :# So we'll just have to wait and see. I know DH in particular is concerned about ending up with "too many" to reasonably do all the eSETs, so we are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping and praying for the "perfect" amount of lil starts... ;)
Heard back from the RE, levels are good, but they want me to start PIO tomorrow, so transfer will be 10/2, still less than a week a way, getting close!
@BusinessWife Great fertilization report, can't wait to hear how many make it to blast in a few days, hopefully it will be just the perfect number, not too few and not too many!
Thanks @tinjp78 I started my meds Saturday night and had my first u/bw this morning. Noticed that my endo thickness is only 2.5. Is it too quick to worry? I have second u/bw this Wednesday.

@20T- excited that we are on the same schedule, it's nice having a transfer buddy. I saw in another thread that you are worried about the PIO...honestly the injection itself isn't too bad, for me the worst part is that I can't do it by myself all the time. I am a Nurse and prefer to give myself injections, I just get really nervous about DH doing them. And the problem with these is because of location, I can only do the right, I am not coordinated enough to do the left. For my ERA in July (my first time doing PIO for the entire prep cycle), I had to do the injections for 6 days, I did 5 on the right and let DH do 1 on the left, as the one time I tried the left, I went in at an angle and must have hit a blood vessel, it was so painful and started bleeding immediately (which NEVER happens when done correctly) so I had to pull out the needle and do the right side. Just make sure you push the plunger in completely to get all the medication so you don't have to inject twice. This cycle I will be doing at least 16 injections, fingers crossed I get a BFP and will do more, but even after 5 on the right, I was definitely feeling it and the area is still sensitive (not painful or sore at all, I can just feel it when I touch the area, as if there is still a slight bruise or something). I start my PIO tonight, 1cc for first 2 nights and then 2cc each night for 4 nights, my transfer is scheduled for 10am Monday morning! Where do you live (wondering if we are in same time zone) and do you know what time your transfer is scheduled?
Awesome, thanks @bethann1022! I start PIO tomorrow. I think I'm most nervous because I'm not in control of it, H came with me today to make sure he understood. It's about the same area as the trigger shots, so he's done something similar before. They gave me numbing patches and said to use heat after, so I'm hoping that will help. I'm in the Central time zone and my transfer is scheduled for noon on Monday.
@miketx83 Since you're doing a full IVF cycle, you might want to also join the October IVF board. Are you planning to freeze and do a FET at the end of October?
Everyone here is doing transfers with frozen embryos collected during prior IVF cycles, so while we've gone through everything you're going through none of our experiences this month will match yours. Which is not to say you should leave! All of us can give you advice during your cycle, too. I am happy to have you here, and you can definitely participate in both boards!
@Bababatty Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely start checking on the other board. Best of luck with your FET!!
Me: 38, unexplained infertility 2 live births from previous relationship; no previous IVF, normal bloodwork DH: 34, no previous children, normal sperm count/motility/morphology
@20T Glad they gave you numbing patches, mine gave me lidocaine cream as she thought it might help the discomfort, well even though Im a nurse I had never used before and did not read the instructions! The first two nights, I applied it and about 5 minutes later, gave myself injection and thought "Wow that cream does absolutely NOTHING." Well after 2 nights, I googled it and found you have to apply it and wait 30 minutes to administer injection, I am definitely going to try that this cycle. Also, definitely warm the progesterone in the needle before injecting (I just put under my armpit for about 3 minutes, it helps thin the liquid so it's not as thick going in. And inject slowly and consistently...thats my best advice. I did not heat or ice after, but did massage gently for a minute or two and the pain was minimal. Good luck starting tomorrow!
@bethann1022 my lining was 12 and my estrogen level was 1470. They did not check progesterone today. I start antibiotics and a steroid on Saturday. What about you?
@20T, my lining was 10.3 (was 5 at baseline), estrogen was 147, how much estrogen are you on that yours is 1470 during FET (I've been wondering if there is a recommended level prior to FET, but it seems inconsistent online). My progesterone was 1.1. It's so crazy to me how different protocols are between clinics, I have seen quite a few women on here who get delayed or estrogen intake gets increased based on estrogen levels, so I asked mine to check my estrogen at my lining check and they told me it wasn't necessary during an FET cycle. They said they only check Progesterone to make sure you haven't ovulated, because during a medicated cycle, they are trying to suppress ovulation. This isn't usually a problem for me as I don't ovulate on my own with medications anyway. I know some clinics only check lining and no bloodwork prior...and some are really particular, so strange. My clinic is pretty straightforward with protocol, BCP until insurance approval, then 2-3 days after stopping BCP baseline, then estrogen patches (3 every 48 hours), lining check after 10 days, if over a 7, then you start PIO (typically for 5 days but mine is 6 after ERA results) and z-pack for 5 days (which I also start tonight). After transfer, I will continue estrogen patches and PIO at same dose during TWW, no bloodwork until beta.
@Bethanne1202 , I think @20T is doing IVF, not FET, so the high level estrogen is pretty normal

@20T, ohh, sorry, by bad. I think the more E, the better the lining grows! Mine was almost 400 at the baseline, and the lining 8mm. I believer RE adjust the dosage for each person, as we're all different in terms of how much we need for that lining get all nice and thick.

@Crystal321 no my RE just automatically gave me a prescription, its only supposed to really help the surface pain/discomfort, which I don't typically have, but I am going to try to see if it makes a difference this cycle in the pain after multiple injections to the affected area
Hey guys... Does anyone have any experience with having an hCG wash or intralipids prior to a frozen transfer? I had my baselines today and talked with the nurse about what we can do to make sure THIS transfer works. With the lining I had and the PGS-tested embryo with 3AA quality, we can pretty much deduce that my uterus is the problem with why I can't achieve a pregnancy. So we're throwing the kitchen sink at it this time: hCG wash, intralipids and embryo glue. I figure why not?
@sarcasticowl While I don't have any experience with an hCG wash or intralipid infusion, I did have an ERA after 3 failed transfers with perfect lining and good quality embryos (they weren't PGS testing but based on age, my RE was sure that one of the four embryos should have implanted). Have you considered an ERA? If we had continued with FETs without doing the ERA (which concluded that I need an additional 2 days of progesterone than previously and it needs too e PIO for me), my RE assured me that we would have 100% continued to experience failed transfers. While my lining has been around 10 every time, with the crinone they never tested my progesterone lining and I was just not responding to it. Perhaps it's something to consider? I know its OOP, but it wasn't too expensive and the information in return specific to my own implantation needs was invaluable.
@bethann1022 I never really considered that, but thank you so much for bringing it to my attention! No one has ever mentioned it to me, but then again we've only had the one failed attempt. I will definitely ask if this is something they'd consider doing. Thank you!
Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. This lupron really is taking a toll on me. I've had headaches the past few days. On and off but overall just a sucky feeling. I start my estrogen patches tomorrow. 2 patches every other day. Hopefully that'll help with the headaches. How's everyone else doing?
@mjpbarretto sorry to hear about your headaches. Mine didn’t fully go away once I started the patches. But I was on one patch every 3rd day. And only today I put 2. In 3 days I’m up to 4 patches.
My lining u/s is next Wed. And if all goes well, they will give me instructions regarding PIO & neupogen.
Still on track for transfer the second week of October.

Hi all! I understand that all of you are doing FTE but am hoping that you all can give me some guidance as I go through initial days of stims Hi all. I am doing IVF for first time this upcoming month. Today will be my fifth day of STIMS. At today's u/bw, my endo thickness was 7.93 but my follies are only about 5 mm on both ovaries. Estradiol is only at 116. Doc upped my Gonal-F from 150 to 225 IU and my Menopur from 2 vials to 3 vials (225 IU). Should I start to worry?
Hello @maggier79 Welcome! First of all I want to tell you not to worry. Keeping a calm mind and positive perspective will be most beneficial for you on this process. Put a little more trust on your RE and try to relax, there is still a lot of possibilities that could happen in a couple of days.
@prudence9-2 I had nausea too in the beginning of my shots but not too bad anymore, just headaches. I have my appt for lining check next Thursday. Hopefully everything will go well then I'll do two days of PIO right before transfer. Is neupogen a one time thing for you?
@maggier79 Hi and welcome!! Don't worry about anything right now. The doctor's usually change the dosage depending on your monitoring appointments. When I was in cycle? I had to get my blood test taken everyday just to make sure my estrogen level doesn't rise too much. So they alter your dosage to give you the best possible outcome. Good luck and do keep us posted.
@mjpbarretto and @tinjp78. Thanks for the encouraging words. There is some much material online that is is difficult not to try to do comparisons. I read that estradiol level should be at 500 at Day 4 and since I am only at 116, then bad thoughts go through my head lol
@maggier79mine we’re slow to grow too. My REs exact words/ they’re slowly waking up. We didn’t see much dev until day 7-8 of stims. I ended up doing 12 days but got 15 eggs, 10 mature and 8 Fert so no complains
@mjpbarretto neupogen will also be daily... my lining appt is next Wed. But I will do 6 days of PIO before transfer

I have just been hanging back waiting, but finally got AF so I go in for my next appointment tomorrow.
If anyone cares to listen, I need to vent. We only have 2 embryos left, including this one. My RE is recommending PGS if these next two months fail, but unfortunately I think my husband is ready to tap out if these don't take. I am trying not to stress out about it, but I am beyond sad. Fingers crossed that many of us get good results in October!
@Crystal321 oh man, I'm sorry. It feels like everything is on the line, and the doctor are happy to keep going and going, but YOU are the ones going through it. Will keep everything crossed for good things for you in October, and it never comes to the pgs/stop treatment question... (((hugs)))
