October FET

Re: October FET

  • @Bababatty good luck on your appt next week.

@prudence9-2 I asked about PIO shots yesterday and they told me they'll teach me on my baseline/lining check. Now, I have that day to be anxious about lol. Always something to be anxious about. I hope you don't get any headaches with lupron.
  • @mjpbarretto are you going to do the shots yourself? When I first did the shot, I found that looking on YouTube for how other women do the PIO shots very useful. I do it standing up. Ag my clinic they told me to sit down. But I think it's easier standing up.

Ask them do draw circles on your butt where you should inject. (The circles are actually above the butt)

  • Hi @Christianner Sorry to hear about your last bfn. I also do hope for lots of positive reports to come pouring in next month. Stay strong and healthy
  • Hi all! AF came yesterday so I'll be starting estradiol pills today as well as estrogen patch. Anyone doing this type of medicated prep? What side effects can I expect from this, bc I gotta say i actually feel back to normal for the first time since July!

    FET #2: January 12th -- BFP!
  • Welcome, @tnh0413, @bethann1022, and @christianner! Nice to see you over hear from the summer IVF thread, @tnh0413. @bethann1022 Wow I'm impressed you're ready to jump in so quickly after your surgery, that's great! Glad to hear you're already feeling so much better! @Christianner I'm sorry to hear about your past FETs. I've only had the one failed fresh transfer, but I can understand how devastating that must be. Really hoping that October is your lucky month!
  • @tnh0413. Welcome!  I haven't started yet but I know they will have me on estrace pills for about 11-12 days to grow the lining before adding pio...
  • Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!  I was able to have my baseline appt on Saturday 9/16 as planned and while my endometrium was a little thicker at baseline than usual (5mm vs typically 2-3mm), my estrogen was only 22 so I was able to get started that night, 3 estrogen patches changing every 48 hours.  I will go back for my repeat check on 9/27 and if everything looks good will start my PIO injections for 6 nights (1ml X 2 nights and then 2ml X 4 nights, with FET planned for 10/3!  I am excited, and trying to remain hopeful, but also extremely anxious.

@tnh0413- the estrogen patches/pills protocol is standard, typically the estrogen only makes me very emotional and occasional hot flashes, but no other bad side effects.  The estrogen is meant to thicken the lining and then the progesterone will add the appropriate nutrients to it, to hopefully make it ready for implantation

@Christianner I am happy to hear that you had the ERA test done, when I was reading your history, it was one of the tests that popped into my head for you.  If you don't mind me asking when did you have it done, what was your result?  While I am happy I had it done and trying to remain hopeful that the additional piece of information may be just what we needed, I am also scared there may be more pieces to the puzzle we haven't figured out yet.

  • @bethann1022 I had it done in June.  We were on an extended break, but during the break, we had the ERA done, recurrent pregnancy loss blood work and another saline sonogram.  I wish I knew what was going on with me.  My doctor is starting to seem at a loss also.

So I just found out today that I will most likely not be having a FET in October.  Since the previous FET was unsuccessful, she wants to do another hysteroscopy.  I was completely shocked by this.  For some reason, I just thought we would jump right into another transfer.  In addition to all this, she wants me to take 2 weeks of doxycycline.  I got all this information from my nurse, so I am waiting to hear from my actual doctor to see what she is thinking.  Right now, I'm at a loss.  Anybody here have any experience with this?

  • @Christianner I'm sorry to hear about this news. I hope everything would work out fine. Pls stay strong. Sorry I don't have the experience of what you're going through, but I'm sure you'll get some replies later.
  • @prudence9-2 that's great! Hopefully it continues. I start mine tomorrow.
  • Just got back home from our dr's appt. I had an U/S and 3 follicles on left ovary and 2 on the right. Dr suggested timing if we wanted. As for my strange spotting and bleeding, she suspected it's ovulation blood. ( AF came which ran for 5 days, then 4days light spotting and today around 5cc of blood was on my panty liner just before seeing ng dr! ) During the U/S, dr said the blood she was seeing was like a day 1 period blood, I repeatedly asked her if it was something to worry about and she said, not. But if this continues 4 days more, We should notify her.

Anyway, I got my progesterone vaginal tablets and estrogen patches from the hospital and dr told me to wait for her instructions when I could start using them. On Oct 1, I'll start my nasal spray (used to suppress ovulation) and won't stop spraying 'til dr tells me so.

I also got my calendar already. The tentative day for my FET is Oct 31. It's this long coz we wait for 2 AF cycles.
  • @Christianner sorry to hear the news. But if that means that you will have better chances when you do end up having FET, then it is worth it.

Back in June I was preparing for my second FET and was already injecting Lupron for 3 weeks. When I was told that I have to stop everything so we could have hystroscopy and then also 2 weeks of antibiotics. So I know how you feel...

@tinjp78 that's great that you have a tentative date!

@mjpbarretto yay! You finally start! When will you have the transfer? I'm already on Lupron for 8 days and super bloated :s

  • @Christianner I am not sure why they would have you skip a cycle for a hysteroscopy and 2 weeks of doxycycline, Im guessing they want to possibly biopsy your endometrium just to rule out infection prior to next FET?  Did you receive a call back from them with more of an explanation today?  I know I did 2 back-to-back FET's in January and February this year and would have done two more in May and June if I hadn't then pushed for the ERA (with my RE's recommendation).  Hopefully it is just precautionary or perhaps may point to a possibly cause of your next BFN.  I know how hard each negative is, I have had 3 transfers and not even a hint of a positive yet.  I am trying to remain hopeful and positive for this next cycle...but it's very difficult, if you need/want to talk more feel free to pm me

@tinjp78 congrats on finally getting to the dr appt and moving on to the next step in this process, exciting that you finally have a tentative date and can start the prep in just a couple of weeks!

@prudence9-2 how's everything going so far with the lupron? Sorry if you said it before, but do you have a tentative FET date yet?

Good luck to all those having appointments this week, our month is coming faster than I ever expected!
  • @bethann1022 it's making me super bloated but so far, I only had one headache.

My FET will be during the second week of October.

  • Looks like I'm around your schedule @bethann1022. I go in for a lining and bloodwork check on 09/26!
  • You guys, I got my polypectomy scheduled.  So that's now Oct 18th.  Probably start estrogen October 22nd, take that for 11-12 days and have a lining check around November 1st or 2nd. Then check the transfer schedule and start PIO five days prior?  So lookong like probably the second week of November before I actually get to transfer... :/ womp.

I also crashed my textagram twice trying to make a nice calendar, so I give up for the moment lol
  • saline ultrasound wasn't too bad. A little cranky when they inserted the catheter but that's it. I actually liked the feeling when saline was going in, it felt cool inside lol. Thankfully, they didn't find anything. Are you having one done soon?
This cracked me up  I get crazy cramps from any kind of fluid pumped into my cavities and almost pass out. So imagining that this experience can be actually enjoyable gives me a really interesting perspective :)

  • My two SHG experiences were totally different.  One performed by a male doctor who I suspect doesn't do them very much, checking to see if my tubes were open, if possible.  Not fun.  The repeat, my doctor was so gentle and went so slow, and didn't hardly use nearly as much fluid as they did the first time.  Night and day!  The second time really wasn't bad at all!  Not sure if I would go so far as to say, "cool"! Lol but definitely not at all traumatic like the first time. Yeesh.
  • @prudence9-2 When they had you stop your cycle for the hysteroscopy and the anitibiotics, did they find anything?

  • @Christianner in my case I requested a biopsy of uterine lining to make sure I don't have an infection that may have cause my m/c. The doctor didn't think I have anything. So she said I can start FET prep, we'll do biopsy and then 2 weeks after get the results that everything is ok and continue with transfer.

However, biopsy found out that I still had embryo leftovers (even though I had MUA after my m/c). So we stopped everything and had hystroscopy to take out all embryo leftovers.

And since my doctor was so not expecting to find anything. She decided to put me on 2 weeks of antibiotics in case I also had an infection.

  • @BusinessWife 2 SHG huh, I admire your courage. And congrats for accomplishing it. This test is really something, it gave me a new meaning to pain
  • @Christianner just used this site on the computer so got to read your history....

Seems like you also had bad luck with PGS normal embryos... Did they ever find what was the cause of your miscarriages?

If you look at my signature, you will see that I also didn't have the best luck with PGS embryos...

    ****TW****
First FET ended with the embryo stop growing at 6w 1d... and second FET ended in a chemical...

Both also with PGS normal embryos....
    *** end TW****

So this time around, we will add neupogen... which will help if my m/c are because immune issues.... (which we don't know if that is the case)

  • LOL reading all these stories about SHGs, my uterus is like, "Remember how we both hated that HSG so much last year and I pummeled you into vowing never to do that again? I will do that again today. I'm warning you." :#>:) Probably I should leave work earlier to get the ibuprofen I forgot at home this morning....
