I got my belly band in the mail on Saturday. I was worried it would be too small (since I started out with 46" hips and it said it was 48" long) but it fits and will stretch as much as I need it to!

Glad that helped. And also so impressed you're out there running. Way to go girl!
Target's new (non-maternity) line had some cute stuff that I'm HOPING will work for a while. Mostly dresses that I can wear a suit jacket with for work. The material is soft, although I'm not sure how well it will hold up. Fingers crossed it will work for a while.
With my first pregnancy, I bought a bit more maternity clothes knowing that they would be used again with future pregnancies.
I had one pair of pants per day for work and several shirt varieties. By 3rd tri, I needed to go up a size in most of my pants/shirts... so I had to buy more due to my hips spreading and large belly.
This time, since it is our last baby (and we got rid of EVERYTHING thinking we not going to have more kids...) I'm being very frugal. I am getting by with what I can and not buying new items until I have to.
basic v-neck t's and tanks will be great for now and in the fall/winter under sweaters. I am using my non maternity cardigans as layering pieces.
Long tanks are great as layering pieces and I wear one daily. I like the new Target brand tanks a lot. Basic black has been a good "go to" for pants. You may also want at least 1-2 "comfy" pair of pants like sweats etc for home later. It'll get to a point that you won't be able to fit into anything, even if it is super stretchy, in non-maternity.
Thanks for the input! I always have the hardest time with pants in general and it kinda makes me nervous that I'll grow even more later into the pregnancy that I'll probably need more! I'll probably have to get tights (do they make maternity tights) to go under my stretchy sweater dresses for work haha. Thumbs up to sweats/comfy pants though, that'll be nice!
@mayapple44 I think it depends on how cold it is where you live. With DD I was due in April so I was able to fit into my winter coat for most of the really cold months. Then I happened to find a winter maternity coat on sale. I find it is definitely not as warm my regular winter coat so I really need to layer if I'm going to be outside for long. I will probably do the same thing this year. It usually snows here and gets to around -20 -30.
So what is everyones thoughts on a maternity coat for this winter? Yes , make the investment, or just make do with what you have?
You need something that closes over your belly if you will be outside for more than 3 minutes or the time out takes to walk to your car. You have options of layers, maternity jacket or just a larger normal jacket.

Thanks! I didnt know that you needed something to actually close over your belly. I guess i will be making that purchase then!
It hit -40 here for a good 3 weeks last winter so I don't think layering/leaving unzipped with my regular parka is going to cut it. I'm either going to get an extender, or I found a 3-way maternity coat that you can wear over a bump, swap a piece and then wear while baby-wearing, or remove a piece and it's a normal coat. I need to see it in person before buying to make sure it will be warm enough since it's pricey, but the fact that you can wear it normally when not pregnant makes it worth the price to me.

Thanks you guys for talking about winter outerwear. I was literally just thinking about it today too! Since winter coats can be more expensive, I think I'm going to wait to see what kind of weather we have. The last 2 years have been incredibly mild here. Like abnormally warm! But, the 2 years before that were either a normal cold, snowy winter, or extra frigid. So even though we'll be our biggest in the coldest months, I'm gonna wait to buy outerwear in case it's another wimpy winter. I'd hate to buy a whole larger coat and not need it, and then for my next pregnancy I may not even be big in the winter.
@LadyMillil I would love to see what you're talking about too! If it is a cold winter that sounds like a smart buy.
So what is everyones thoughts on a maternity coat for this winter? Yes , make the investment, or just make do with what you have?
I have two boys born in January. I just made it through with my regular coat. I live in the midwest... it gets cold here but I wore a sweater, my coat and a scarf... it was fine for what I needed. I also kept a heavy blanket in the car just in case of car troubles.
My friend wore her husband's coat through the winter.
Has anyone used the Jessica Simpson nursing bras at motherhood? I've tried the Motherhood brand and they have had the wire pop through multiple times even though they got rotated and I hang dry. I'm in need of larger ones since I'm still nursing DD but I need to be measured first. If you haven't used those where have you found good long lasting DD+ ones at?
After reading all this about winter jackets, I have been looking into those maternity jackets with the removable panel for pregnancy and the added panel for baby wearing. Has anyone used one of these? I'm curious if it would be easy to nurse in one as well. I'm thinking it would be great for this winter (pregnancy) and next fall when I'm out with the kids for holiday affairs.
Anyone use Zulily? Thoughts? I just ordered $50 worth of maternity clothes (2 shirts, one legging, one dress!) but held back bc I've heard some bad stories about the cheapness and shipping time. But my sister uses it. Anyone buy their maternity wear?

I've bought a couple of things from them before, as has my sister. The issue I have with them is the no return policy. Makes me very leery of maternity clothes, because I've tried on so many from other places that I think look terrible on me...but maybe I'm just too picky!

I use it all the time for kids things. a d it's always great for that.
I ordered a lot of maternity clothes for my second pregnancy. They were all terrible… The fit was off, they were cheaply made, and it took forever to arrive. I am also picky about maternity clothes though… I want them comfy! Zulily will not take anything back… So I refuse to buy clothing for me there.

I have had a few great things from there--but the clothing is not something I buy anymore. Even if I buy brands I know--like Mud Pie--for some reason, the sizing seems to be off. And, you cannot return. I prefer to buy online from stores that I can return locally or that have free shipping on returns!
@mblomq2 I've bought a few maternity items from them, and some underwear/bras and jewelry in the past. While the previous stuff I've bought said no returns, the maternity stuff did. And it arrived quickly (several days, rather than several weeks with other stuff). So far everything fits as expected (I erred on the side of caution so it's a bit bigger than I'd prefer). The size charts are mostly helpful, the one exception being the size chart on a pair of jeans that only showed bust size and waist measurement, while pregnant. Um...bust size has nothing to do with pants. So I'm afraid to pull the trigger on getting those.

I finally sucked it up and went bra shopping...DD!!! WTH?? (I was a B/C before TTC.)
I feeeeeel you! B to D! DH thinks it's great lol, but I keep being like "who put these here??" Apparently it will get worse when breastfeeding *eye roll*

I have gone from C to something bigger too, idk what I need to go shopping, I enjoy it so far but I'm worried about what I keep hearing about post-breastfeeding breasts, that they often get flat and deflated and sagging. Definitely worth it for motherhood, but I still hope it's not that bad.

Mine got a bit deflated post breastfeeding but not horrible haha. I was glad to get back to my comfortable bra size from pre-pregnancy and get to wear underwire again! (For like a month and then pregnancy made them bigger again...)

Anyone else living in semi-denial that they'll actually have to purchase maternity wear at some point? I'm practically living in sports bras so I know I'll have to cough up the cash for some maternity bras soon, but I am dreading when I need to get actual clothes! Thankfully I wear scrubs to work and they're pretty forgiving but I might just be spending all winter in leggings lol.
@babybro218 I believe you. Still yet to go though! My own fault. Just hesitant to make time and spend the money. Although I know I need to sooner or later.
Update on the Old Navy and Gap maternity stuff that I ordered: It was all incredibly inexpensive. I am fine with the quality to price ratio. It's not fancy, but good enough for the few months I'l need it. Exactly what you would expect from ON and Gap. I just got 2 knit dresses, 3 tanks, 3 l/s knit tops, a button down, and 2 jeans. I want to confirm: THE JEANS DO FALL DOWN. I am constantly pulling them up. I don't know if it's every model or if other brands do that too, but I am constantly digging my hands down to grab them and pull them up. Otherwise they are comfy. I got both jeans in full band version just because I am under the impression that they will stand up to my size more as I hit the end of pregnancy too? FTM, I don't really understand the varieties and nuances of maternity jeans, maybe I should have bought some with just side panels? I just don't want to buy a pair for every month or two of size change. So yeah. I've heard ON jeans fall down and it's true. And I'm also just wearing them anyway. Anyone had good experiences with inexpensive maternity jeans?
@alice0218 it's the size that causes them to fall down. I was like, I am not for sure a size smaller but out of fusteration I tried a size smaller and I'm loving life. lol I still need to adjust a little but they don't fall down and fit perfect
@SunflowerMama428 Good to know! I definitely didn't order up, but I guess ON jeans run big. Maybe I will go to target or something where I can try them on first and get just one more pair...
@SunflowerMama428 Did you order a size down from the size you wore pre-pregnancy, or just from the maternity jeans size you bought? (i.e. I wear a size 14 in ON jeans normally, so should I go for a 12?)

@alice0218 I had the same problem with ON specifically, and sizing down (as suggested) helped. Also, the full panel pants generally fit me better once my belly gets bigger, but for early pregnancy the under-belly kind seem to stay up a little better.
@eggplantface well I bought my pre pregnancy size for maternity pants and that worked well for side panels but for full panels I was swimming. I'm a 16 and have small legs/hips so I got maternity pants for a pre pregnancy 14 and they fit perfect. If that answers your question. But I got my jeans at ether target or destination maternity

Uniqlo, my favorite store in the world, now has maternity pants, including their "legging pant" which is the best jegging I have ever worn. I have them in every color and wear them to my office job every day in the fall and winter. I just ordered the maternity version, hoping its as good as the regular! I have had the worst time with maternity jeans and pants, either they are too big and fall down all day or too small and make me feel like a sausage. I am just striking out hard. The best pants I have right now are Jessica Simpson maternity "faux leather" leggings.

I love Uniqlo too! But I find sometimes it's hard ordering online. I'm not shorter than average, but I'm not tall, and I find a lot of the legs to be pretty long. Let us know how the maternity pants you ordered run when they come!
