Re: September WTO

  • I go here now.  AF came at 4am lol.  This will be my first cycle back to tracking after a summer break from it all.  Going to order a new yoga mat that is chemical free and start some extra supplements.

I'm technically still in the TWW but we abstained this month because I was supposed to start IVF in September but now since that is down the toilet, I'm just waiting for AF so that I can do another round of IUI. I'm posting here now because it's easier for me to keep up with everyone from the beginning than joining the party late and being totally overwhelmed lol :)

CD9 for me going to start BD EOD tomo
DS born 04/22/15, Pregnant again 03/01/17 however loss due to PPROM at 20+6 weeks now TTC rainbow
  • Hey ladies! CD 6 for me. DH decided we needed to BD this morning... not sure if we'll start EOD yet... maybe. Tracking with pee sticks around CD11, and Inhabe an appointment with OB to see folicules CD13. She said my end of cycle and early cycle blood work was "perfect" whatever that means....
  • Yep I'll start EOD BD on CD10.  I'll probably buy some OPKs at dollar tree and start those around day 12.

  • @vlagrl29 sorry for AF.

Im CD8.  I guess we started BD yesterday. DH Has been a horn dog lately. I go tomorrow for US and bloodwork.  Not sure of process from there with the IUI since we added the extra meds.  I will probably take OPK tonight just to see.  I have no other O signs yet.  The first 3 IUIs I didn't track anything but I think I'm going to this time just for my own curiosity.

FX for all you lovely ladies this cycle!!
  • I'm strictly scientific about it all now lol. I'm going to get a prenatal with folate, coq10 and an antioxidant. I need to see what dh needs for supplements.

  • vlagrl29 My DH's Endo recommended these for him. He said they had the best quality vitamins and the highest percentages of absorption. Just a thought if he's looking for a daily supplement.  Sorry the picture is so giant.
  • @vlagrl29 I know a lot of women on the IF board have their husbands take (or the RE recommended their husbands take) FertilAid . Apparently it has all teh basic vitamins and minerals found in any multivitamin for men, plus some additional antioxidants and amino acids clinically shown to increase sperm count and motility. I'm ordering it for DH.

  • Thanks @tosh24 !  I take that supplement currently for my prenatal but I'm going to switch to one that has folate.  A friend recommended garden of life to me.  I was talking to DH about it all this morning.  I said "I know you think I'm nuts!"  but he told me no lol.  he doesn't mind supplements but feels the same way I do about going BSC about BPA and fragrances.  It's not what I want to do at this point since I have a living child and used plastic and all my makeup etc.

  • @vlagrl29 If you can get your hands on NFH brand, that's the one my naturopath recommends. It's a really good quality brand and is 3rd party tested to make sure they're pure and don't have heavy metals and other impurities in them (and my naturopath isn't very crunchy - she's actually very science-minded and cautious). I take their prenatal which contains folate. You can also just supplement your current prenatal with NFH brand methylfolate as well, which is what I do (I take an extra 1 mg). It is actually better than taking folate because a portion of the population cannot properly convert folate into l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, which is the active form that your body uses. So the NFH brand is actually l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate so your body doesn't need to convert. Anyway, just FYI in case you were going to go out an buy all new supplements :)

  • FX for everyone this month. Just got some new wondfos from Amazon today. Unsure if we will "try" this month or wait for next month.
  • CD1 for me. AF just started. Now I have to figure out which flavor of ice cream my feelings are this month. I'm thinking chocolate peanut butter cup...

  • @Mack2342 That all sounds like good news!!! FX this is your cycle!
  • @ELeighMay Yay!!! Period parade!!! Sometimes it is a relief when AF shows up when you know you aren't KU that cycle, cause it symbolizes a fresh chance. Then the cramping starts and you start cursing it again...  :D
  • Well CD2 here. Yay.
  • @Mack2342 c'mon little follicles!!!

  • Saw this on the Facebook this morning and it hit me right in the feels.
  • AF only 3 days and barely any spotting today. Yea for short AF. Booyah!

  • @Mack2342 good luck!!!!

    @leahcimmichael sad but true huh?
  • Thanks ladies @leahcimmichael and @sprkls8506. Last few times we did IUI I didn't track one thing.  I was just following what dr said.  This time I'm temping, tracking CM and using OPKs. However once I took the trigger shot last night I know that can stay in system for a few days so I probably won't waste anymore OPKs. I did take one this morning and it was solid smiley. I'm adding Coq10 in this week.  I'm going to ask RE about DHEA.  I figure I want to give this my all if we decide these rounds of IUIs is it for us.
  • GL @Mack2342 - I'm also going to add supplements too.  Does DHEA mess with your hormones.  So far I want to add CoQ10 to both of us.  I've been slacking and need to get back to reading that book.  Decided I'm just going to stick with my normal prenatal for now.  Some of those are very expensive and only last a month.

  • DHEA is a hormone so yes but it's supposed to help with egg quality.  I'm getting supplements for DH. My prenatals cover most of what is recommended in the book except selenium and zinc.   Still debating if I should add them or not.
  • I'm just afraid to take anything that might mess with my hormones so I'm hesitant on that one.  Let me know what your RE says about it.  What prenatal do you take? @Mack2342

@vlagrl29 just ordered DH vitamins and he will take the coq10 too.  I added the zinc and selenium they were only like $6 bucks each.  Did you compare you prenatal to the books list?  That's what I did and found that mine prenatal contained all but those two well and not the coq10.   The only other one I'm curious about is DHEA But since that a hormone I want to ask RE about it
  • yeah that's why I'm hesitant about it because I don't see an RE and my OB doesn't know anything about herbs.  Did you get the coq10 with the right ingredient?  I know they said 1 works better than the other.  My goal this week is to read more of that book and then head up to the vitamin shoppe and get some stuff @Mack2342

@vlagrl29 I got the coq10 ubiquinol which is the better one.  I will let you know what RE thinks about the other.  I take prenat minis.  I have to have a script for them and they aren't cheap.  I started out on over the counter but then when I got pregnant with DS OB gave me a bunch of samples and I liked these.  So I got the script for them. They are def better than the over counter ones I was taking

@Mack2342 - I just double checked my prenatal and it has all the ingredients the book said although folic acid instead of folate so I guess I should get a stand alone folate supplement in addition to it.  I'm thinking of getting DH a mens prenatal vitamin as well.

ETA - I also have been taking Maca root capsules for energy and DH takes them too.  They are supposed to naturally balance out hormones as well.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 that might be the big difference between over counter prenatals and prescribed. Mine is folate

There are some that do have folate in them like Garden of Life - the totally vegan ones usually do @Mack2342 - I'm going to compare prices on Amazon.  Might find some of this stuff cheaper thru them.

ETA - I looked at the ingredients in Fertilaid for Men and compared to his Mens Alive Vitamin and it has all the same things in it give or take a mg.  Fertilaid has maca root in it but we are taking a maca already in addition so I don't think I'm going to get him a fertilaid or anything comparable.

  • Thanks for the info @vlagrl29
  • @vlagrl29 Not sure if this is any help, but I take the Zahler brand on amazon, and it has methyl folate. I don't think it's vegan though...
  • Insemination completed so now I wait.   I did ask RE about supplements.  Little disappointed as he says I frequently recommended coq10 and DHEA to patients. He said it won't help this cycle but if needed take them next cycle.  He said 25mg 3x a day for DHEA and 400 mg of coq10 once a day    Why didn't they tell me this from day one?!

@mack2342 - GL with the TWW this time!  I know I read these supplements may take at least a month or 2 to make a benefit but that's ok.  I'm going to the vitamin shoppe this afternoon to get going - CD10 is coming up! Clear the tubes time :)

Doctors are frustrating aren't they?  My OB said he didn't recommend herbs and what not because they are not FDA approved and there have not been enough studies.  WTF?  I will do my own research then!  You have to for the sake of your own body.

I'm going to order my new Jade yoga mat today no toxins in my yoga mat!

  • @Mack2342 good luck this cycle! It's annoying he didn't recommend the supplements earlier.... but hopefully you won't need them for the same reasons next month. I've got my FX for you!

Im CD11... started BD EOD  CD6... sticking with EOD until right around O this cycle. I think our marathon ED was too much for me. Plus my doctors said I should "not try, and take the month off" so the best she's getting is EOD! She says "alot of times it can be mental" heck no am I not trying without a biological reason lady!!

  • Thanks @vlagrl29 and @jchpg.  @vlagrl29 I read that supplements could take a month or two but I also read that you shouldn't take either while pregnant so I guess I'm going to wait to start them.  @jchpg I wouldn't take the break either
