I'm a technical writer for a software company. I write the help documentation that appears when someone doesn't know what to do an hits the question mark or help button.
One more teacher here! I teach middle school and high school Spanish. I go back tomorrow and kids will be there next week. I'm already worried about maternity leave. In my area, it's not uncommon to not be able to find a long term sub and especially one that can speak Spanish. Thankfully I have until April to get it figured out!
Man, all of you have way more interesting jobs than I do. I'm the pasty faced nerd in the back room crunching numbers and poking at financial statements for fun. Which is facinating to me, but absolutely no one else.
@jilliant26 the one i worked on the most was an IRMS isotope ratio mass spectrometer. It focused on carbon and nitrogen isotopes. We had other MS but that was the main one I worked on. I really liked that job. Then I worked for a company that manufactured instruments that mostly measured salt in water. I tested them to make sure they worked before the were shipped out. I hated that job and that's when I decided to go back to school to be a teacher.
Edit to add the company names 1st was stable isotope facility and 2nd insitu. I have thought about medical labs but I don't think I am qualified.
Ah, currently no MS in our lab yet, though we may be getting it in the next couple years for identification of bacterial isolates from cultures.
Would depend on the lab and what sort of accreditation they have to determine what education or certification you would need to qualify. Some states require licensure also.
I am an outdoor recreation instructor for a camp venue. My partner and I both juggle care of our 21mth old little man. When there is a camp in at work, my partner does 'Daddy daycare'. Work is quiet at the moment, so i've been at home and he is working
I teach Technology classes to students in grades K-6. Although I don't officially go back to work until next week, I've been working in my classroom and school off and on over the last couple of weeks.
@jilliant26 I'm a medical laboratory technician! Have been for 12yrs. I was part time microbiology and part time blood bank, but in 2015 switched to full time blood bank.

Blood Bank was my favorite subject in clinicals!
Mine too! I was lucky enough to get a position right after graduation. Always wanted a full time day shift in blood bank, and finally got it after 10yrs.

I'm a tax account! I work with my father and sister - my father started his own firm 30+ years ago and my sister and I are taking it over. So if you need your taxes done I've got your back
@ladythrice my client is the DoD @maureenmce I love world of dance! @Mattel I also coach all star cheer! What age/level do you coach? I have S4 this year.
I'm currently a SAHM but before that I worked in the hospital in the Nuclear Medicine department. I've thought about going back to school for nursing once I'm done having kids.
I'm a community manager for homeowners associations. I'm the nice person who sends you a letter when you paint your house purple without approval or if you have three weeds in your yard! I swear I'm a nice person though...
I'm an attorney and do mostly personal injury work.
@mountainsmama I'm jealous, I originally wanted to do land use (I have a master's in natural resource management) but sadly the job market here is stagnant. Do you enjoy it?
For the past 7 years I was a part time high school English teacher, but this is my first year as an administrator (Fine Arts Director). I also direct our school's musicals. The other days I'm a SAHM!
Part-time Clinical Psychologist; part-time SAHM. I work 3 days a week at a university with graduate students (my dream job!) and one of those nights I work with adults and families in a group practice. I was JUST finishing up my doctorate during my last pregnancy...I saw a few posts about being in graduate school with a newborn- it can be done! I was back in class 2 weeks after I had my son. Not ideal, but I did what had to be done and you will too!
I also teach group fitness classes, but right now I only teach one night per week as a hobby. It's nice to get paid for your hobby and get a free membership though
Love all the different careers on here. I'm a SAHM! Previously worked in debt counseling. While working I obtained my Master's in social work and had just finished my internship at a hospital in the ER department when I had my first child thinking of possibly switching to school social work after this baby but we'll see.
@1fish2fishredfish your job sounds amazing!!! I would love to go back for my Doctorate but not sure I want to take out any more loans.

The loans are absolutely soul crushing. The doctorate was a very costly bucket list item. I'd say I wouldn't do it again, but I REALLY wanted to earn that degree.
Re: GTKY: What does everyone do for a living?
I'm an actuarial analyst for a health insurance company... which means I help price insurance plans and handle regulations.
