We have gone back and forth and back and forth with names. The only one we both love is Emerson. Like we love it. My DDs name is Emmalyn. I have finally decided I don't care and that it is ok for them to both start with Em (because if not, were never gonna name this baby). Of course my fil saud "well now you'll have two Em names".... really gosh we hadn't thought about it. I didn't think it would bother me but it did. Now o know why people don't share their names.
Soooooo we're back to the drawing board. On the way to go visit my grandma yesterday DH said he wasn't really feeling Cecilia anymore. Which is fine, we have time but there are just SO FEW names we both like. Ugh.
I think the same middle name is sweet, especially because they're both honoring loved ones. I don't think it's weird at all.
We're back to the drawing board on middle names. For some reason, neither of us are feeling Leslie any more. The current front-runner is Alexander Elliott ... but, given our track record, we've got about another month before that becomes unpalatable for unknown reasons.
The only hitch we have with Elliott as a middle name is that we wanted to give our kids one of my family names as a second middle. (Insert big story about how our last name is not inherited from either side of DH's family here.) The family name we'd use is "Ness"... so there's a bit of hesitation in giving the kid "Elliott Ness" as a middle name combo. But I doubt anyone in his generation would make the untouchables connection.
@tamaraaaa My children have the same name basically but just backwards. DS is Lucas Gabriel and DD will be Gabriela Lucia. I always say "your children, your choice" to most everything.
DH's brother and SIL are two of our closest friends and they were trying to coax the baby's name out of us this weekend.. not annoyingly, but just curiously. I have to admit it was tempting to not say anything, but we're trying not to tell anyone before she's here. However it was funny that their #1 guess right now is Bridget which has been my first born daughter's name for a long time until recently. I totally forgot that I even told this couple about Bridget (I think well before DH and I were married!), so kudos to them for remembering. I still love the name but it got nixed because this new person joined my mom's company and is apparently a total idiot. Her name is Bridget and my mom talks about her incompetency a lot. Even though I don't know idiot co-worker Bridget, obviously my mom isn't crazy about this person, so I felt really iffy about naming her first grandchild after someone she loathes. Anyway, I played it off kind of cool when my BIL and SIL guessed Bridget, I acted all weird and surprised so I'm hoping it throws them off and they think they're right. Muahaha.
ETA: DH and I quickly decided on Beverly after we nixed Bridget, and that's not a name we've ever discussed with anyone so I think everyone will be really surprised!!

We're thinking Felix robin William. Robin is SO's dad's name, William is my grandpas name. Felix is apparently the only name we can agree on for a first name.
I thought this naming thing wasn't going to be difficult, after finding out we're having a girl. However, my SO is reluctant to talk names. Honestly, I think he'd prefer a colon cleanse over talking names. He mentioned something about not looking forward to having a big discussion, but I don't see why we'd even have one. I told him we probably both need to compromise. He's been super busy at work, he'll start a new job soon and is busy wrapping everything up. He has come home with tension headaches quite often these past two weeks. Hopefully, we'll be able to talk about it this weekend.
I'm rooting for Matilda (or Mathilde as is the common spelling here). ETA: Matilda is actually quite rare here. One of the reasons why it's high on my list. Another reason is that it's easy to pronounce in an international setting.
Just did another round of the name game with DH last night. Norah, Juliette and Delaney are our current tops (in that order I think). The asterisks are my tops choices and the others are his. We are getting closer.
I think SO and I are the only ones that haven't seriously discussed names yet. I've brought up a couple and he's just like No. I give up. We had a heck of a time naming our boys (they went three days before they got names), so I'm really hoping this one is a girl, because we still have 1 or 2 names that might be in contention!
@FakeFinn and @tmk0325 ok I feel really stupid confessing this, as it's not normally how DH and I communicate. But knowing this is baby #3 and discussing baby names with him during any of my pregnancies was like pulling teeth. And when I finally could get him to discuss it it was just me throwing names out there and him saying "no." Finally one day at the beginning of the day I sat down and texted him a list of my top names that I loved. And said baby's name will come from this list, please remove any you hate, and if you wish to add any to the discussion feel free to add. Two hours later he texted me back the list with 3 of the 8 names remaining that I texted him, and he added 3 of his own. I was like YES PROGRESS!!!!! Haha. He even ranked them in order. So this little girl will be Piper Marie. My first two pregnancies were really him just picking the name he liked best out of my suggestions of boy names.
@ngarciabyu, that is almost exactly how we named this baby. The other two were easier for some reason. This one we threw a few names around but none of them stuck. I finally just looked through the top 1000 girls' names and wrote down the ones I'd be willing to consider (adding two that aren't in the top 1000) and he chose his favorites off that list. The name we went with is one I don't think I would have thought of on my own.
Yess!!! DH just told me that my favorite girl's name, Cosima, has grown on him and is now his favorite. Let's hope we continue to agree on it and can find a boys name that we both like as much.
Any suggestions for boys names? I like the name Peter, but DH says it is "too plain." We both like Finn, but our dog is called Vin, so that's not going to work. We both like Sigfried, but don't want to give our child a German or Norse name because even though its 2017, Nazis are still amongst us and the US President appears to support them + DH's last name is often interpreted as German (it's actually Welsh). I wonder if we need to find an Italian name, since our angel baby is Juno and we both like Cosima for a girl.
