@dkizz82 As I may have mentioned before, I love the name Rosalie. DH doesn't like it because he has trouble saying it. I keep telling him he could just use the nickname Rosie instead, but I am also like, IT IS NOT HARD TO SAY!
@cait5413 Cracking up over here! I guess that's not a good choice for names.
i will admit, being from central PA, I have my own trouble pronouncing some words (usually words with a lot of Rs or Ls. So maybe I shouldn't talk on this one
Ex: I have to concentrate to say "bulldog." Otherwise it comes out "boodog."
forgot to write: I edited to add that example. Then edited again to write "edit to add"

I'm cracking up. I actually love the name Sidney, but I say it SO weirdly for some reason. It comes out somewhere between Cindy and just incomprehensible nonsense. It makes me sad!
@dizz82 It's like his tongue gets too big for his mouth once he gets to the L. He can say it, but he has to be slow and deliberate and almost over-pronounce it. It's so weird.

Question... we have a Roselynn (Rosie), would it be weird if we had another girl (still have no idea what this nugget is) to name her Violet? We're not growing a garden, but I really like Violet.

It's a little kitchey but I don't think it's too kitchey. I LOVE Violet. And Rose for that matter. Due to my last name we can't do any flowery or even color related names so maybe I am just having some FOMO and want you to do it though haha.
Now that we know we're having a girl, we are back to square one with names. DH suggested "Mackee" yesterday.... wtf? DD's name ends with a double E and he wants to do that again. I think it will sound ridiculous and sing songy.
@KathrynJ088 I would probably pronounce it "ee-lena", but that's influenced by my second language. Likewise, Elena ends up "eh-lena" to me at first reading.
@balletnerd- omg, my brother/sister in law did this when we found out we were pregnant with #1 in 2014. They announced to the family over dinner that they had claimed James Henry and Claire Elizabeth. James and Claire being family names... fast forward to 2017, we're on baby #3 and they're waffling on whether they even want kids. We went ahead and used James as a middle name for #1, but we really like Henry for this baby (if it's a boy) and are irritated that they felt the need to "claim" names. They have since said, we can use whatever names we want but now I'd feel like a jerk if I used another one of their names. They've already said that they can't use James because it's #1's middle name which I think is dumb and they're passive aggressive way of saying "you used our name."
Thanks for all the feedback ladies! Coming from a complicated name spelling (or just lots of versions), I'm trying to minimize it for the LO's. Naming humans is difficult!!
I know what I want to name my son: Magnus Jude. but my husband hates it. However, he hasn't really come up with any suggestions, he just complains about what I've picked. When I ask for a name he likes, he says, "I don't know, just NOT THAT." So, in my head, that's just his name. Absolutely no one has liked it so far, but I like old Scottish and Scandinavian names. My husband says he's okay with a couple of my back ups, but they just don't seem right to me now, and I'm sad. It's maybe just hormones, though. We just had to put the discussion on hold for a bit.
@Imapisces This is my husband to the tee. I love tons of names, and once we settled on one, even though it's not a favorite of many, it was it. It took tons of lists and many weirder options to get him to settle on something.
I've flipped back and forth a couple of times. So originally we were going to do Valerie for a girl, then maybe Cecily, but now I think we've actually settled on Diana Valerie if it's a girl.
I love the name Isla @AFrye0726 . My daughter is Elaina and because of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, most people pronounce it right (eh-lay-nuh). We do get the occasional Ellianna by accident though.
We are now 99% sure that baby girl will be Elise Margaret. That wasn't on any of our lists but we discovered Elise on the BabyName app and Margaret is another family name that we had considered.

@lestex: another great example of why names can't be claimed. Especially family names. Le sigh.
So far for a boy our front runners are Isaac or Simon. Middle name Marcus.
For a girl our top names are Sophie and Maya. We like Elise but the middle name is Laurelle so Elise is a bit much.
We have an ultrasound tomorrow so hopefully we will be able to tell the sex! That will make name selection a lot easier lol

Ilena Dianne
Baby B:
Luke Roy
Both middle names are grandparents names, one on each of our sides of the family. I's and L's bc our family first name initials will be HIJKLM
is-luh or Iz-la (hopefully those make sense lol!)
It took tons of lists and many weirder options to get him to settle on something.

Das it haha. I like too many girl names, not enough boy names.
ALSO, it's been forever since I've posted. Please forgive me, it's been harder to check in with chasing a toddler now. Miss this board though!
