Anyone doing IVF in July/August?

@hopeful_mom and @Holls214 I didn't know you were "allowed" to do that many IUIs! My RE said 3 and we're moving on. I abandoned ship after my 3rd cycle that was cancelled. Looking back, I think it was this board that helped me make that decision though.
@Holl214 OMG, the hot flashes are brutal. These progesterone pills are making my cheeks and ears red and I'm peeing way more that usual.
@Helloworld9 Waiting for 12 weeks is pretty safe. The odds of something happening after that are pretty slim. It would be very obvious by 24 weeks lol. *TW At least it was for me end TW*
@bababatty Thank you! I know looks don't matter much if they test abnormal. Praying some are ok though. 15 follies that are around the same size is great!! And you're probably right about your bloodwork. I always asked about my numbers and everytime she said they were lower than doc wanted, he raised my dose of Gonal a tad. The way your prescriptions are set up is frustrating because anything could happen. What about when you start going everyday? I went everyday for a week!

QFE: What genetics lab are you using or have used in the past? How fast was the turnaround time for the results? I'm using Genesis and originally my nurse said 7-10 business days. Today the embryologist said I'd probably know by Friday but for sure next Monday. That's quick!

@allycheer00 I'm not sure bc I saw two names? But our consult on Wednesday is with Genescreen and they said 14 days.

@allycheer00 yeah about the iui' a girl in in my Resolve group has done 11 of them. She can't afford IVF so she just keeps trying. I feel bad for her... In all reality we should have stopped way before 7 but I think I was in denial. Yes so much pee! Haha geez.
@Bababatty yay for 15 follies! Fingers crossed for some great growth.
Also- our PGS testing was somewhere in CA, we are in Oregon. It took about 10 days total. Felt like the longest 10 days ever.

@Holls214 Oh, duh! I didn't think about distance. Google says the lab is 4hrs away. They probably start processing day of but that might only cut out a day. Oh well, we'll see but 10 days is soooo long.

@allycheer00 - My clinic uses EmbryVu and told me one week. They are a few days late because one week would've been last Friday and I'm still waiting on PGS results...

@Bababatty 15 growing together is great. You're only just starting too, so even more could pop up. That happened for me abput halfway through. Sorry about all prescription drama. That is so annoying. Does your clinic have a nurse that manages your case? If so, maybe you can try to get his/contact bc thats probably who is calling in your meds.

We're using reprogenetics. Im in ca theyre in nj. So far ive been annoyed with them everytime ive dealt with them, but im just really hoping they dont fuck this up. Just little things like getting in touch with a real person is difficult and then trying to charge me for the first round when we're banking and just other little stuff. And now i realize they have my most precious possession. Well i guess they just have the biopsy not the embryo but if it gets messed up, its a real problem.
@helloworld9 ugh that sucks! I hope you hear something monday. The waiting is just awful.

allycheer00 I too should've moved on sooner then I did! Part of it was OH as he still can't get the IVF thing especially since he has kids already...so he was a bit tougher to convince which annoyed me too. I'm also OOP so a few hundred dollars compared to thousands seemed like it was worth a try. Due to my age I wish my RE would've reminded me of that knowing it could cause problems. This is where OH and I argue as he wanted to keep trying "naturally" as much as possible...so I blame him which I know it's wrong but it makes me mad that every month counts so much for me. I shouldve stopped after 3 too especially since my first real cycle sort of worked...ugh this journey we are all on, what a pain!

@helloworld9 Dwmmwd hoping good news is on its way! Amazing how many different places there are for testing, i use a place in NJ. They usually take 7/10 days but they say 2 weeks so they have the buffer.

AFM: thought AF would be here so i'm a bit annoyed shes taking her sweet ass time showing up now. Usually i'm right on schedule so we shall see.

@allycheer00 It seems like Counsyl does the actual testing and Genescreen is who we have our consult with.

ETA Oh! I almost forgot and now I can't remember who asked lol but the wedding invite said "black tie optional." So I have a couple choices. I have one dress that's like a Grecian style one shoulder black/gold number, and another I bought recently I think will go with her wedding colours if I can guess from the stationery - a blush pink empire-waisted maternity dress. So maybe it depends whichever one is the most flattering to the bloat + doesn't <i>actually</i> make me look <i>pregnant</i>??? Lol :# maybe we'll have to have a fashion show if it gets closer... then there's another one in October, when who knows if I might actually BE a few weeks ku!!! :D. I have another red dress I might try for that one...

BusinessWife i love fashion shows! Always nice to have fun things to look forward to. Try to live in the moment! I had a bunch of dresses for an occasion as I just didn't know which way things would go...thank goodness i would say. Its so tough in IVF land to know where you really end up. Hope you need maternity dresses for all

@funkykey smh about that comment, you have such resolve to hold back in verbally destroying her, I love your response. People just don't get it or think before they pressure people like that, ugh!

I'm getting excited for attempt #3 but also have some trepidation. I see potential transfer dates on my calendar and I still have my PIO from cycle 1, but to actually get to that stage seems like such a dream, not reality. However, my dad has always said "The answer's always "no" unless you ask" and I think this applies really well to IVF, in that unless we try again, we will never know if we would have had success. So, today and every day I will pick myself up and carry on!

@Dwmmwd How annoying!! I haven't had any troubles with our place but all correspondence has been via email. What I do worry about is the samples getting destroyed or lost in transit. They should have tracking on it lol!
@Hopeful_Mom Hindsight is always 20/20! Oh, the things we would've done differently had we known better. Did AF show up? I know you're ready to get started.

I'm in an IVF support group on Facebook. Two girls found out this week that they're having identical twins. Their embryos split and some people are asking if they did assisted hatching. That raises the chances of twins?? Did any of you have it done? I did but I don't know if it's pretty standard.

eta. Sorry, I ask alot of questions. It's the inquisitive scientist in me lol.

OMG, 11?! That makes me so sad- all that hoping and heartbreak! I wish IVF weren't so expensive.

@allycheer00 - after the IUIs, I was in so much pain, I couldn't stand it. I think my H would have kept trying that way, but I was like: "Absolutely not. We are moving to IVF right now." Our RE was like: "we generally don't see much more success after the 3-4th cycle." and that was all the advice I needed. When our 3rd cycle failed, we moved on.

@Bababatty - For a long time we avoided doing IVF and instead did the IUIs, even when it was clear that they were almost certainly not going to work, because it felt like too much—like hitting a nail with a sledgehammer, I said a lot.

This made me laugh - my H always teases me, and sometimes gets frustrated with me, because I am ALWAYS bringing guns to knife fights. I think it's just my personality. 3 tries with the hammer, and I was like: "F*ck it, where is the sledge?" LOL. It can serve me well, but it also gets me into big trouble!

allycheer00 wow thats awesome!!! I think deep down i kind of pray for that since i'm only doing one when the time comes. I'm so excited for them! I never heard of the assisted hatching helps with that...I do think its suppose to help with implanting. I did it last time and believe when they do PGS they need to do that too.... fingers crossed

There are so many new things we learn everyday in this process! Is the FB page really private? Lord knows i spend more time on here then FB, but my world knows nothing about it so I get nervous to join anything in that world.

@Hopeful_mom Reading up on it, it says the chance increases 2.25 times because the structure of the egg shell is being compromised making it easier to split. The Facebook page is closed. I had to unfollow it today though because there were so many pregnancy tests coming across my timeline. I just go in the group when I'm ready to see what's going on.

QFE how long are you all waiting after ER to start exercising again? Im doing FET so currently just waiting on AF. Im 8 days out, do you think that's long enough to start doing some gentle yoga and easy workouts? Or truly wait for AF?

@Dwmmwd I was going to ask my Dr to do an US to see how large my ovaries are to see if I can start back up with running. I need to be doing something right now. I was told elliptical is ok because there's no jostling but I hate the elliptical and need to get outside for a proper run.

@Dwmmwd I had sex 5 days after soooo....But, to be fair, I had zero bloat and felt no pain. I think my pain tolerance is through the roof though due to endo. My doc was confused and kept asking my symptoms all the way up into ER lol.

Re: exercise... if you're doing a freeze all I've usually been told to wait till after AF for anything other than walking. I've also developed ohss twice and in those cases you have to wait till your fluid decreases. If you have to take ohss meds then it might be a bit longer. In general if you feel ok and don't have complications, you should be fine after AF

As for exercise I was told to wait until the period because I had moderate ohss. Maybe some light exercise is okay if you feel okay.

Our meeting was pretty quick. They asked about known family history, racial background and then took some blood (we had an in office meeting with our offices genetic counselor) and that was that. We got our results pretty quickly. They told us most ppl don't have concerning results (two copies of genes for a disease)

AFM - I got my PGS results today. Out of 6 frozen blasts, 4 are normal. 1 had an extra chromosome 15, the other had a partial chromosome 19. The embryo lab told me the results are 96-97% accurate, and if I were to transfer one of the abnormal embryos, it would have certainly resulted in a MC. Also, they told me the genders (I was so curious!). Anyway... I'm glad we got some normals in there for my upcoming FET. Very nervous to see if any would take. Now we wait until after my vacation...
