Hi all. FTM here and I know nausea is normal, but I guess just looking for some light at the end of the tunnel. I have been very nauseous 24/7. When I don't eat, do eat, sleep, literally every minute of every day. I have tried preggy pops, eating bland carbs, eating cold meals often, peppermint, ginger, and nothing at all helps.
I am trying so hard to force food down, but literally not one thing appeals to me. I don't ever actually vomit, but the nausea is awful. Its not debilitating so I don't think I need meds. My doctor said as long as I am keeping liquids down and getting my prenatals and not losing weight, I am fine. I did lose two pounds and am trying to eat more, but food is just horrid.
Do others feel this way? Guess I am looking for some sisters-in-arms here ha
Is anyone else's skin extremely sensitive with pregnancy? I have pretty normal skin usually but lately my moisturizer and concealer actually burn. Plus, I'm breaking out like a teenager. I think it's time to find a more gentle moisturizer. Suggestions welcome.
@GG620 it often peaks around this time, and then you'll hopefully slowly experience reprieve leading into the 2nd trimester. The 1st trimester is truly challenging, and you are doing whatever you can to stay on top of it! I wish it could be easier, but you're doing a great job!

@kby721 my skin was really sensitive to sun with my first two, but with my DS, it was extra sensitive to other things, too. Shaving caused a lot of irritation, so I had to use sensitive skin products. I'm not sure about concealer, but you could try some different makeup options for sensitive skin to see if it improves! I think once you have sensitive skin in a pregnancy, it lasts throughout the pregnancy, so an investment in something that works now will be worth it! GL!
@GG620 I had it with my second pretty bad. The strangest foods were helpful...like salt and vinegar chips, or McDonald's cheeseburgers. Try some less bland things and see if they sit better? I know mine peaked around this time and got better around 12-14 weeks.
@GG620 This morning I came the closest that I've been to actually throwing up. Mostly I just have really crappy nausea all day long and not much helps. If something sounds good, I give in and have it. The most random things that sound good are the only things that seem to give me a reprieve from the nausea. Right now, it's mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw from KFC or a full up loaded salad. But when I added a burger to my salad yesterday, ugh. And also eating much smaller amounts seem to help. I have a very fine line between hungry and full. Ice cold water and mints are my go to to avoid throwing up. Hugs. It gets better!
4w5d. Metallic taste in mouth and dry mouth no matter how much water I drink, dull cramping on and off, feeling warmer than normal and bloating. Also, I'm still breastfeeding (nights and morning only, since I gave up pumping at work when we hit the 1 yr mark) and my supply seems to have dropped pretty significantly to where my DS is pretty unsatisfied with what he's getting. It's kind of sad because he wants to nurse so badly, but can't get everything he wants from me and pulls away fussing and signing for more milk.
@mrsinterweb I am 5w5d and also currently nursing my DS through this pregnancy so far. I have also been noticing he is unsatisfied at times At least we know that he is not relying solely on my milk for nutrients. I think our bodies will adjust as time goes on if we continue...I am also glad you mentioned the "feeling warmer than normal." I started to worry last night when all day I felt like I had a low grade fever the past two days and then at night I would be FREEZING with chills . DH was saying he did NOT like that I was feeling this way...which got me worried. I spoke to my doc's office and they assured me because of the hormone changes it was normal... phew.
@GG620 I feel you. I haven't thrown up, but the nausea is pretty constant. Getting the prenatal down is tough and I'm temporarily using a liquid one, which helps. I agree on the small meals. Crackers and ginger ale are my best friends. The only thing I can suggest that wasn't mentioned is I've found if I'm nauseous it helps a bit to sit up even when I'm tired. I hope we all feel better soon!
@GG620 Ugh yes!! I was like this for 10 weeks straight with my first! It was horrible!
Do you own Sea Bands? They were awesome. Also, acupuncture is a major help. Once you find anything that sounds remotely interesting, eat it! I ate Taco Bell constantly and felt overwhelming guilt until I realized it was all survival.
@GG620 sorry to hear you're feeling so crummy! maybe try other sensory things, like a cold or hot compress, a fan gently blowing in your face, accupressure (if you google "accupressure for nausea" a few different guides come up), cutting a lemon in half and smelling it (or, try smelling essential oils like peppermint), a hot shower, going for a walk to get some fresh air, splashing cold water on your face - something that might be comforting/distracting and doesn't involve eating/drinking anything. hope it starts to get better soon!
@barrelocarol thanks for the suggestion! I just ordered some on Amazon. Fingers crossed.
@gazelle319 I had not thought of some of these suggestions! I will definitely try some things out. A cold compress and some accupressure sound good! Thanks!
@GG620 I don't know if you are open to the idea of medication if it's that bad. I was SO SICK up until a couple of days ago and had resisted calling my OB because I wanted to tough it out. I ended up in the ER Weds dehydrated because I wasnt drinking enough.
long story short - my doc put me on diclectin (category A and proven safe) and I feel SO MUCH BETTER. Still slightly nauseous but nothing I can't handle.
If you don't want meds - I totally understand. Someone else commented on one of my previous posts that if I was open to it, there was no NEED for me to feel so terrible. I'm glad I finally did it.... thats just me though. Do what feels right for you girl.
ETA - I tried the sea bands and they really didn't do much for me at all. Some women swear by them though.... can't hurt to try?
Bloated, tired, and nauseaous all day and night...so hard to work full time, mother a toddler, have a long commute, while feeling sick allllll day It will all be worth it, it will all be worth it...
vjlanier To bring here the discussion you brought up in another post, my fingers are not swollen, but have been somewhat constantly tingly (pins-and-needles-y?) for a week or so. The internet told me it could be a result of low blood pressure- more blood vessels, and not enough blood for all of them yet- which can happen early in pregnancy.
I've also had fairly constant lower stomach cramps/pains and occasional nausea... but very happy not to have gotten sick (yet). (;
@vjlanier I had swollen fingers and feet for about a week before I found out I was pregnant. It's subsided now. I think it may have been hormones, or perhaps dehydration or just not eating healthily. That being said, if it persists, call your doctor. ALWAYS better safe than sorry. Hope you're feeling better!
@mdfarmchick for head aches the saje peppermint halo pen/wand is amazing, you can also get a roller but I prefer the pen/wand . There's isn't many USA locations but you can order online I think. It also smells so great
Who else can't stop farting? And they smell sooo bad lol! Sorry if it's TMI but my insides are going bonkers and I'm so not used to it!! (Other than the gas, just tender breasts and that's it.)
I'm not sure if anyone has asked this yet, but does anyone else feel like it's harder to breathe? I seriously feel like someone is sitting on my chest and I get winded easily.

@staciefacie I have felt that way and when I told my OB about it they said if it happens again to go to the ER. But figured I would start with my PCP first. I also feel like my heart races occasionally.
@Staciefacie that can be a normal pregnancy symptom... usually later on but I'd ask your doctor just in case! I have been feeling that way some days as well.
@kby721 I'm right there with you. Always breakout during my pregnancies and become sensitive to products. I used Arbonne my last pregnancy but can't get myself to pay the amount for their products anymore. I've started using Acure and love it. The girl at my local Fresh Thyme recommended it as one of the best natural face product line available. You can get it on Amazon too.
This may have already been talked about but has anyone else been experiencing back/neck pain while sleeping?? It's so strange it was like this with my first pregnancy but I thought it was our bed. We got a new bed and I've been feeling great up until I got pregnant. Just trying to figure out what's going on!!!
The nausea has kicked into high gear since yesterday. I've only experienced it when I'm hungry. It usually subsides right after I eat and hoping it stays that way! Also still experiencing breast tenderness, but they do not seem as tender as a few weeks ago! And of course the constant urge to pee and bloating. It's really setting in that this is happening.
Yes!!!! @scoogy19 And I'm almost 100% sure it's triggering these nasty headaches. It's awful! I just can't get comfortable and I wake up and feel like I must've slept wrong.

Yep, same here. Also, if anyone here thinks farting is TMI, they might be in the wrong place. Lol
@Staciefacie I definitely get winded more easily than usual, sometimes just walking up the stairs. But I don't feel any chest constriction, and that definitely sounds like something I would call my doctor's office and talk to a nurse about.
@scoogy19 neck pain for sure. I wake up in the middle of the night with a giant cramp in my neck like I slept funny. I don't remember it last time, but I suppose it could be related to hydration, too, as with many muscle issues!
Yesss @scoogy19@chasingroygbiv@LiveNLove44... I wake up with aches and pains. And the past two nights I've had trouble getting comfortable enough to fall asleep. Ugh. And yes, I blame some of this on the awful migraines.
7w4d and although I have not experienced bad nausea, I have noticed if I do not eat for about four hours I will start feeling slight nausea and extreme fatigue. That said, I am super sleepy pretty consistently after about 3pm (ish). Once 2:30-3 hits... I am no good to anyone unless I am able to take a nap (lol), and I have never been a big nap person. I am also experiencing swollen (not really sore) breast and my tummy is a bit sore. Somewhat similar to if I have been doing crunches. Oh, and how could I forget! Cravings for fried and salty foods like no other!
@chasingroygbiv@LiveNLove44@mdfarmchick omg you guys made me feel so much better I was starting to think I was nuts!!! Good point on the hydration... especially since I'm also breastfeeding. I wake up parched several times during the night but ignore it. I think I'll try keeping water by my bed tonight.
@scoogy19 you women who are BFing and pregnant are like superhuman. Amazing. I would imagine that's really adding to the dehydration. Extra water for sure!
I was just telling DH last night that it must be our bed because between my neck and my hips I truly think I have arthritis all of a sudden! He looked at me like I was exaggerating. I was actually getting concerned. Obviously I'll still watch it, but comforting to know others are experiencing it.
Remember the feeling around 35 weeks or so when your knees feel so heavy that it hurts to sleep without a pillow between them? I've been experiencing that for a few weeks now. Why and stop!
@chasingroygbiv and @barrelocarol you're right. It isn't just my neck. I've been achey in my other joints at weird times, too. Recovering from my workouts takes longer, which I remember from last time, but my ankles are getting sore, too. I'd imagine the hormones impacting our ligaments are making joints function a tiny bit differently and may be making us a little extra sore.
