Aren't they wonderful!? It's hard finding ones that don't stretch too much and stay where you want them to, but theyre awesome!

  • It's like I had forgotten how comfy maternity clothes were! I finally bought a pair of shorts because I just can't with my pre-pregnancy ones. I was refusing to buy any because we have like a month left of summer where I live. I put them on today and now have ZERO regrets. I should have done it sooner!
  • I definitely plan to buy maternity staples, but I've just signed up for Le Tote to supplement! So far, I've gotten two and I've really liked everything I've gotten so far. I haven't switched over to the maternity subscription just yet, but I really like that I'll be able to send stuff back when it doesn't fit, and have a wide selection of things to choose from.

Once fall hits I'm going to buy all the leggings and comfy sweaters! Can't wait. Def going to try to by non-maternity or maternity I can wear post babe.
This!! I love big comfy sweaters! I am hoping that I can pair some non maternity oversized styles with maternity leggings.

I am a FTM and still in my regular clothes (9+5 weeks) but I definitely want to try and find some maternity jeans soon.

Any Canadians have any go-to stores? I love RW&CO so I am hoping thyme maternity has a sale soon!

I actually found quite a bit of stuff on sale at Motherhood the other day online! Most of the stuff I got is winter but atleast I'll be prepared! Lol
  • I got my box if maternity clothes out, I had forgotten how many cute items I picked up! And apparently I lost a lot of chub in my legs from last time. My magical stretchy pants are huge! I hope after I wash and dry them they fit better because maternity pants are not cheap :(
  • Walmart.com has really great prices on maternity clothes. I think I got all my jeans there during my first pregnancy.

@marissajc I didn't realize it, but I guess from just weight gain and added fluid my legs filled out more than I realized. I recentlt bought some new jeans that are a little big in the legs and thought, well I'm just by the time I deliver they'll fit. My first was the worst, I was SO swollen, but even with all the others I had swelling and didn't realize it until after I delivered and went back to normal.
  • I'm 11 weeks and finally broke down and bought a bunch of maternity stuff on sale/promo codes from Gap and Old Navy. And I'm in love with the maternity jeans from Gap! I'm typically a size 6, but found I'm really showing/bloated in the stomach to the point that someone asked me if I was pregnant... and I'm not prepared the share yet  :/ (also can I just say it's so so so rude to ask?!)

I find though that it's easier now to conceal in my maternity jeans. I look like I put on some vanity pounds rather than my normal skinny jeans just pushing everything up and out LOL.  And soooo much more comfortable!!! I actually just bought 2 more pairs today since they're on sale again (and I can wear jeans to work so no need for dress pants). I also love that everything is still true to size.

Great sale at Macy's! They didn't have a huge selection at the one near me, but I got a pair of gray linen-like pants for $13!
  • I'm 13 weeks... FTM and not yet in maternity clothes. I have this feeling it prolly will happen overnight, so I'm trying to be prepared. I've shopped around and so far I love pink blush maternity the most. Their stuff is so nice, stylish.
Prolly will have to pick up some leggings have them just in case.

  • For those shopping, are you buying things with room? I keep seeing sales and want to snap a few things up so I have them, but I'm not sure how the non-bump weight is going to distribute as the bump comes in.

Normally, you buy maternity clothes in the same size you currently wear. My last pregnancy, my MIL bought clothes a size (or two  :| ) up, and I never ended up wearing them because they hung off of me (and I am fluffy).

@atalante When you're trying on shirts/pants that are snug now, your hips/thighs/stomach/breasts will grow (a lot). Things that fit snug and look cute on a 2nd tri bump may not fit well on a 3rd tri bump. :)  I bought some pieces for 2nd tri and third trimester I had to buy a few larger pieces to get me through the last several weeks.

ETA- I prefered full panel maternity pants towards the end of 2nd tri and all through 3rd for comfort. The mid panel was uncomfortable or too low when I'd bend over.
  • Mostly buy the size you are, but depending on how your pregnancy goes and what grows most (boobs and belly and thighs for me) you may end up buying a few new things towards the end. I found that the cute flowy shirts that worked great second tri didn't cover the bottom of my belly third tri, so I had to wear only fitted shirts or dresses after that! Also boobs didn't fit in a lot of stuff towards the end, even maternity clothes. They get enormous, and I wasn't very endowed prior to that.

  • I bought a lot of stuff at Target last go round, also GAP maternity always has stuff on sale at pretty good prices.

On fri I got a last chance 40%off flowery tank at motherhood maternity outlet  for $10, and there were plain casual tanks for  $5.
  • I popped the strap of an Old Navy summer dress today. I bought it right around when I found out I was pregnant a couple of months ago. I haven't gained any weight but it's all redistributing. Guess I'm creeping up on time to change clothes here haha.
  • I just recently bought maternity clothes from Thyme Maternity (in Canada) And they actually had a fake belly thing you could put on which adds like 4 months so you can actually see how stuff will fit when you're further along.
  • I ordered a few maternity dresses from Nordstrom since they're having their sale right now and I also just ordered some stuff from ASOS.  I'm a big fan of places that offer free shipping and free returns, so I can try stuff on at home and return what I don't like.

Any suggestions on where to buy attractive maternity pants?

Last time around I struggled with finding pants that were both comfortable and flattering.  I'm a size 4 and It seems like every pair of maternity pants I tried on was huge and baggy.  I just ordered a couple of pairs from Gap and Old Navy to try and had the same issue.  (I also can't stand the feeling of the type of maternity pants that go over the stomach, which limits the selection even more.)

Leggings are great, but I have to dress professionally for work and can only get away with leggings every so often.  I pretty much lived in dresses last time around, but since it will be winter when we are at our biggest it would be nice to have some pants options also.

Can you do leggings  or tights  under dresses for work for warmth?

  • @mamaof5already  That's what I did most of the time last time, but I don't want to have to wear dresses every single day.

  • Reviving this thread with a question- I just started not fitting any of my prepregnancy clothes (15 weeks tomorrow- baby #3). Sadly I didn't keep any of my maternity clothes from DS and DD. Anyway, we are headed to the beach in a few days and I've found I have NOTHING to wear.

Looking for creative ideas of things to get... preferably some non maternity since I will literally only be wearing it weeks before fall starts.

  • @Starynightsky24 I found the website www.thredup.com and it looks pretty cool. Lots of secondhand maternity clothes from name brands. Haven't tried them yet but it says they offer free returns.

Has anyone tried Le Tote? Curious if it is worth it for office attire. How did you like it?
I have subscribed to Le Tote non maternity for almost a year now. They have great quality items! I just received my first maternity Tote. I got three shirts and a pair of black trousers. It's really nice because they style a Tote for you but then you have the option to swap out items! Like my regular dresses are still fitting but my pants and blazers are not, and I feel like my shirts are a little too short to hide the belly band of my pants. I have worn all three shirts so far and they are all soft and comforting. I can see how they would make room for my growing belly but don't look silly with just my teeny bump.

I would definitely recommend this service! Especially for other working moms to mix up your office maternity wear because maternity business wear is freaking expensive!

Thank you! I'll keep it in mind for the future! We are leaving in the next week :(

  • Look at sundresses! And like someone said thread up, I'd also check second hands shops if you have them. Where I live we have several and you can get a ton of stuff for cheap!
  • In non maternity clothes I can hide my bump and when I wear maternity ones it's so obvious I'm pregnant! Am nearly always in maternity now! Only 3 months but everything I used to wear is uncomfortable!  I was a high waisted jeans and bodysuit person so all tight and not very pregnant friendly! My maxi dresses have stopped fitting with the extra up top!
  • I have not yet switched to maternity clothes (I'm a FTM at 14 weeks).  I have a feeling that my work pants will begin to get tight shortly into the school year, so I've proactively been shopping a bit to get some basics.  Target has a new line from Ingrid & Isabel, with pants on sale currently.  I ordered a few pairs that are GREAT! Definitely recommend.  I also have gotten a few sale things at Motherhood Maternity (online and in store), Old Navy, and even was able to find a pair of maternity pants on clearance at our JCrew Outlet (who knew?).  I am really trying to buy basics that I can wear over and over again, since it's just from Sept. - Feb.
  • I'm finally at the point of needing maternity clothes. I went shopping today and spent way too much money, but feel soooooo much better in clothes that actually fit and are comfortable! I shopped at Motherhood Maternity.
  • @gingermama26 the underwear from motherhood maternity literally saved my life. The sales are great too. I just started fitting in my maternity clothes as they were comfy but too big. I kinda cried this morning because I hate that I look twice as pregnant as I really am. Baby number 2. I literally didn't look pregnant with number 1 until I was like 7 months along.
  • @SunflowerMama428 I understand how you feel! I look 6 mo pregnant in my maternity pants.

Thanks for the tidbit about about underwear from Motherhood Maternity--I'm going to check that out!
  • @SunflowerMama428 I know the feeling!! STM too and I felt like I didn't really show until 25+ weeks and with this one I want to wear maternity so that I actually look pregnant and not like I've just gained weight!
  • @SunflowerMama428 Thanks for the tip about the underwear from there! I'll definitely have to get some! I feel like I looked more fat than pregnant in my regular clothes and they were becoming so uncomfortable; I'm so excited to finally need and be in maternity clothes (is it obvious I'm a FTM? Haha)!  :)
  • @chucksmom15 yes for that underwear on Amazon! I love it! I also just got some Motherhood Maternity underwear and they are a dream as well. I bought a pair of Madewell maternity jeans and they made me feel like a sausage and I cried, but other maternity jeans that "fit" when I try them on end up falling down as soon as I walk a few blocks. I am in a very frustrated stage of in betweeness...

Also EVERYONE has been commenting on my body, at work, my friends, my parents, even DH when he is trying to make me feel better somehow makes me feel worse. Like he will point out all the parts of me that are the same size when I complain, but its just more scrutinizing and makes me anxious. I just hate the attention and feel like my bump is too big for how pregnant I am and wish everyone would stop commenting. Especially at work!

  • Try Old Navy and Kohl's @MrsJ2410 for jeans.  That's where I got mine and they are comfy.

Why do people think it's ok to comment on your body?  I feel like I am big for a FTM mom too.  Someone already asked me if I was sure it wasn't twins.
  • @MrsJ2410 and @chucksmom15 After today, when my father joined in on the commenting, I decided that I am issuing a statement of pregnancy rules to my family. Rule #1 is that it is never ok to comment on my weight or the size of my belly. Ever. Even if you think it's a compliment, keep it to yourself.

I don't know what else to say to these people...
