Re: June IUI

  • Hi! I haven't been on in a few days and so much news!

    @moni2016. Congrats! Fingers crossed for doubling numbers!
    @greenhillgirl What symptoms did you have for the Femara? I am also taking it, but take it right before bed, as it makes be super tired.

    Went for my baseline Sunday and got the go ahead to move forward. Starting my Femara tonight.

  • @Norms463 spotting could be a good sign! That's interesting what your RE said about progesterone and spotting. I thought it was the other way around (that progesterone can prevent mid LP spotting). I obviously am not an expert, but just from other things I have read from ladies taking progesterone.

    @moni2016  FX for rising beta's!!

    @greenhillgirl Sorry for the BFN :(

    @sunnynat2015 yay for an all clear baseline!

    @GG620 I don't actually know what the measurements were. At my 1st follie check (Saturday) the RE said everything looked good and there were a few good ones. Well, I wanted more information than that, so I (stupidly) asked "Did you measure them?" Which, duh, he obviously did. But what I really wanted to know what "how big are they??" So he kind of laughed and gave me a look and then I rephrased my question to ask how big they were and he said they were about 15 mm. So I kind of felt dumb after that lol. When I went back Monday MH couldn't come with me so it was just me and I didn't feel comfortable asking exactly how big they were, since the RE kind of made me feel like I was questioning his ability to do his job when I was there Saturday.  Which, of course I wasn't, I'm just the kind of person that wants to know literally everything! Give me all of the details! So I just trusted that they were ready since he said they were. My guess is they were probably around 20-21mm by Monday night when I triggered. TL;DR: I embarrassed myself in front of the RE, therefore I never found out how big the follies were when I triggered.

    IUI this morning went well. I have had a little spotting and cramping, but not too bad. Post-wash count was 12.5 mil, which isn't fantastic, but I think anything above 10 is what they are looking for.
  • @Kim41313 - Glad your IUI went well. You're paying the RE so ask all the questions you want. It's your body you have every right to know every little detail. I'm sure he/she doesn't mind. From what I've read the research says you want at least 10mil post wash and anything higher doesn't seem to increase odds of pregnancy whereas lower does decrease the odds.

    @GG620 - glad your appointment went well. FX for mature follies on Friday!

    @greenhillgirl - are you feeling better?

  • @dmo1371 you're right, I should ask him all the questions I want to. I think I was just embarrassed by the way I phrased it the first time, which is dumb I know. If we have to do this again (I really hope we don't though) then I will probably be more assertive about getting information. I'm not really an assertive person but I would much rather know than not know. Thanks for the reassurance!
  • @Kim41313 If my ultrasound tech doesn't tell me, than the nurse that calls me with my instructions tell me follie size and everything they measured.   Im the type of person who wants to know everything! I think my office hates me, I'm always asking a million questions! lol I don't feel bad at all, I figure it's my body I have the right to know. Plus we are paying for everything.
    If your RE seems like your questioning his ability, too bad and that's his own problem. You have the right to know.

    @sunnynat2015 thank you!
    @GG620 Keep growing them follies!
    @Kim41313  the DH had 12 mil after wash as well. Great number, I tested out my trigger after IUI so it would keep me sane in the TWW. Are you goin to?

    Well second beta today came back 138 at 14 dpiui. I got back Friday for another check and then again on Monday. Just have to stay positive.

  • @Kim41313 glad the IUI went well! Fx that this is your cycle!

    @GG620 Fx for Saturday and good size follies!

    @moni2016 excited for you! I think staying positive is a great plan! Positive vibes that everything will work out.

    I have also been focusing on staying positive and believing that this cycle will be our month! I went to the store the other day and bought a "you're going to be a daddy" coffee mug for DH... if i believe it and attract it then hoping it will be real! power of attraction :)  and having faith in God that He's guiding our journey...

    @Kim41313 FX'd so hard for you! Thanks for the info - I am completely the same with wanting to know ALL THE THINGS. Thankfully, my RE is always so understanding and explains every little thing (its a teaching hospital and I think he is used to it with the residents haha). Glad that your IUI went well!!

    @greenhillgirl hope that you are feeling better today!

    @moni2016 FX'd those numbers keep going up!! Positive thoughts are definitely the way to be. When is your appointment tomorrow?

    @dmo1371 @norms463 thanks so much for the well wishes!!

  • @sunnynat2015 thanks for the encouragement!

    @moni2016 I think I am going to test out the trigger. Probably not every single day though, at least until it starts to get lighter. I tested yesterday and it was still pretty dark so I will probably test again tomorrow. I'm so glad your beta went up!! FX it keeps going up!

    @Norms463 thanks! Love your positive attitude! That is something that I struggle with myself. Its hard to find a good balance between staying positive but not having super high expectations. I find that when my expectations are low it makes the disappointment if it doesn't work just a little easier to deal with. Its something that I feel like I am always working on.

    @GG620 That's nice that your RE is at a teaching hospital! I feel like that would definitely make a difference in how things were explained.
  • @Norms463 I am totally with you on attracting good things. Positive vibes. Have you read the book? I guess I need to reread to bring on all the good vibes.

    @GG620 my appt is at 1:00pm Arizona time.
  • @moni2016 - great news!!

    When I test out my trigger I usually don't start until 7dpt and then again test at 9dpt and it's usually out by then.

    @dmo1371 & @GG620 thanks for asking. I am finally feeling better. It seems like the ovidrel or femara and ovidrel combo just made my hormones crazy and gave me every pregnancy symptom in the book by the time AF was due. My period is 1-2 days late and hasn't shown yet and the doctor said my progesterone was high so might not start for a little while yet.

    Trying to figure out if we should try again this month or wait. We have the week of July 3 off and were planning to go down to my family in VA (we live in NYC) from 7/1-7/6 but depending on when AF starts, we would need to do the procedure on 7/4 or 7/5 and have the shot the day before. That means I may not be able to go to VA at all if I want to try this month. I also checked and we need to do this another 3 times before we could get 75% IVF coverage when I add his insurance. I'd rather not drop mine to add his, which I could do at any time. They also only cover 75% IUI, whereas mine covers 100% IUI and 0% IVF. If we took this month off and tried 3 more IUI's in August, September, and October, I can add his as my secondary insurance in November and get coverage starting in January. There's also the possible hassle of getting the meds via mail around the holiday since they change delivery dates.

    Would you all take a month off and go down to see my family who we both love and have a lot of fun with? Or would you hang out at home together which would also be wonderful since we work opposite schedules and don't see each other, have a staycation in NYC and try another month right away? Thanks for any advice!

  • GG620GG620 member
    @greenhillgirl I think it is a very personal decision that you and your SO have to make. If you don't mind taking the month off then go ahead and do it. If you want to try again right away, then stay home and have a relaxing weekend with the hubs. Each couple is different depending on age, circumstances, finances, etc.

    Mind me asking if your RE has indicated that you should go to IVF or if he/she would be okay with you doing that? Some REs want you to try a few months of IUI before moving to IVF, but I know depends on the diagnosis, etc.

  • @greenhillgirl i agree, it's a personal decision for you both to make. I will suggest that either decision you make, it may be helfpul to completely embrace it and celebrate it, that way you're not left thinking "i should have done this instead..." As i know personally that can be stressful... Good luck with your decision!

    As for me, today is 12 dpt and 11/10 dpiui. Today was my first clear negative test so i think it's safe to say the trigger is out of my system... I think it's too early to say I'm out for this cycle because my RE's instructions were to test on Monday... But not sure when should i expect a positive test if indeed i am pregnany?

    Well fx'd for those of us still testing and positive vibes!!!
  • @greenhillgirl - I agree with the others, it's a personal decision that only you and DH can make. Some people really need that mental break of taking a cycle off and others it would cause more stress and wouldn't be worth it. Good luck deciding!

    @Norms463 - I think it depends on the person/cycle. ***TW pregnancy mentioned - With my BFPs I got a positive 10dpo with the first and 11dpo with the second end TW*** I know 10-11dpo is considered early and many people don't get their BFP until 12-14dpo.

  • I have a question... for those who get their progesterone checked 7dpo what does your RE say the level should be? I know google isn't always reliable, but I am reading a lot of things that say >10 for unmedicated cycles and >15 for medicated cycles are ideal.

    If you've kept up with my long rant earlier, Friday 2 different nurses told me endometrin would not affect my progesterone blood level so to start it. They also told me an ultrasound could not confirm ovulation (which I think is false). Today I called to get my number from yesterday and asked the nurse (a different one) if endometrin can affect the level and she said yes. I told her I am getting mixed answers from other nurses. I then said so you don't know if I ovulated, and she said no you did. I asked how do you know if it can affect my levels? She said she was going to talk to my RE and call me back if needed. My level was 13. I just want straight/honest answers. I am getting frustrated. This was my 3rd IUI and I just want to be 100% sure I'm ovulating before talking IVF.

  • @dmo1371 I did 2 medicated iui cycles one with just femera and trigger the 2nd with femera,gonal-f, and trigger both times the nurse told me that they like to see the progesterone over 10.

    Sorry your dealing with that I would be so frustrated too. Hope you can find someone with the right answer.
  • @dmo1371 my Re likes to see anything over 10 also

    AFM I have to sit this month out uggh. Two cyst on my right ovary. The joys of Pcos  :( But we did do a consult with Cny Fertility since I live in Ohio its not that far for me and dh to travel. May try one or 2 more iuis then move onto ivf. Gl to all you ladies. I'll still be lurking and rooting for you all on the sidelines  <3
  • Thanks everyone. @GG620 feel free to ask anything, that's what we're here for :)  When he did his first SA it was severe MFI with less than 2 million and super low morphology and motility. At that point his urologist who specializes in male infertility and the RE said IVF was the only option. I would have to add his insurance somehow or pay out of pocket.  When we got the second SA it was so much better and that is why we decided to do IUI and now I believe must do the 4 sessions of IUI before IVF. So i'm using my insurance to pay for the IUI then will switch to his if/when we need the IVF once we've met the 4 tries rule. Yay insurance!

    I got my period today and I explained to him due to the timing that we can't go to VA before or after the IUI since it would be 7/4 and 7/5 right in the middle of the week. He said it was completely up to me but that because of my vacation and work load I probably won't be able to go until December if I don't go now. So we decided to take this month off. I agree with you @Norms463 that I need to stand by my decision. I am going to enjoy doing all kinds of fun things with my family that I wouldn't be able to do if I wasn't feeling well, including having drinks :)

    @dmo1371 I'm sorry that sounds so frustrating and I know you mentioned you are in an area without a ton of options. Would you be able to make an appointment with the actual RE and make a list of questions and concerns and sit down and talk to them in the office before moving on to next steps? It makes since with your PCOS that you would have concerns.

  • Thanks @Labluver2, @rel_1987, & @greenhillgirl. I do have an appointment next Thursday with my RE, so I need to get a list of concerns/questions ready.

    @rel_1987 - I'm sorry about the cysts. I hope the month goes by quickly for you and your cysts are gone next cycle.

    @greenhillgirl - since you won't be able to get away again until December, I think it's good to go (I probably would too). Be around people you love and not have to worry about constant meds/appointments/TWW. I'm sorry about the BFN, but I hope you have a blast on your trip!

  • @dmo1371 i don't get my levels checked but your situation sounds frustrating with getting different answers from the nurses at the office. With spending so much time/$/and effort in this process and also with the emotional involvement that is involved, I can understand that we would like to be getting the most accurate and up to date information from our RE/nurses. I hope you get the answers you need.

    @rel_1987 sorry about the cysts. Are you trying the paleo diet for weight loss? after you asked about it i remembered about it and am back on it. let me know how it goes!

    @greenhillgirl great thinking! Hope you enjoy fun times with your family and also some drinks!! cheers!

    AFM, today I am at 14 dpiui, today was the day my RE instructed me to test at home- I've been testing everyday and every time it's a BFN. I keep starring at the tests and sometimes i feel like I see a faint line but i think it's just my imagination... DH and I will be leaving on a road trip for a week and a half this Friday so we are taking this month off.- Plan is to enjoy the road trip! have some wine, focus on gratitude, and trust that God is guiding this process... positive thoughts to everyone!!

  • @Norms463 sorry for your Bfn. And yes, I'm going to try the paleo diet. I'll try anything that could help. Have fun on your trip!!!

    @Norms463. So sorry for your BFN. Enjoy your month off!  DH and I took a break from fertility stuff for awhile and it was probably one of the best things we've done. It's definitely needed every once and awhile.
  • Went for my cd12 testing today. And I'm so annoyed. I had a bunch on tiny tiny follies on my left side and 2 follies on my right side that are 10mm! Only 10mm! The same thing happened last cycle and they only got up to 16mm and I ovulate don my own. I just have a feeling the same thing is going to happen again. Going for cd15 testing on Friday to see what is going on.

    How is everyone else doing?!
  • @sunnynat2015 - I'm sorry. I can imagine how frustrating that is. I hope your follies get nice and big before you ovulate this cycle. What meds are you doing?

    ***TW***
    I posted in the TWW thread, but I got a BFP so we're just waiting on betas to see if there is doubling. My first was really low (16) but it was 11dpo and a super faint line on the hpt. They are getting darker so FX.

  • @dmo1371 I am taking 5mg of Letrozole. Which was on day 5 to 9. I guess I should stay positive as I can't image how small they would be without it. But still fusterating. I think I'm going to ask if there are other meds I can try or an increased dose...?  Congrats on your BFP! I hope your next beta goes well! 11dpo is early so that could he why it is low.  But as long as it double or. Omesckise you should be good! so exciting!
  • Thank you @sunnynat2015! I think you can go up to 10mg of letrozole (I'm sure they'd try 7.5mg first). FX your next ultrasound goes well!

    Well, I'm pretty sure I'm out this cycle. BFN this morning with a FRER and I'm 13dpo.  Moving on to my last IUI cycle....

    I started a July IUI thread for those of us who will have another cycle.
  • @J1006 sorry about your BFN. Fx for you that your next iui is successful
  • @dmo1371 congrats on your BFP!! Gonna keep my fingers crossed for increasing betas.. mine were 12dpiui 51, 14dpiui 138, 16dpiui 346 and then 19dpiui 846.
    @J1006 some sorry about your BFN

    update: Wasn't due for my ultrasound until Friday. Went to bathroom early and wiped 3 times brownish blood. Called RE said to come in right away.  They did u/s and said they see a sac but couldn't see anything else as I am only 5 weeks so too early to see embryo. Then she asked how many follicles I had a time of trigger. Which I had 7. she kept scanning over another area and couldn't quite make out what it was. She mentioned another sac and black area. She said I still have very enlarged ovaries from the OHSS and just to take it easy over the weekend, no sex or working out. As I was driving home I got horrible cramps and could barely drive, the cramps were so bad I had to pull over on side of road because I almost puked. I went home and laid down for an hour with horrible cramping continuing  I got up to use bathroom and bright red gushed out everywhere with very small clots. Has anyone had a similar situation?? I was reading up on vanishing twin syndrome because of the normal other sac looked normal I'm scared because of so much blood gushed.
    This morning when I woke up there was a little bit of brown blood when I wiped an just checked again and barely anything.
  • @J1006 - I am so sorry for the BFN. I really hope next cycle is the one for you!

    @moni2016 - Thank you. I am so sorry you went through all that. Thinking of you and hoping for the best! Maybe you were in the process of losing the sac they didn't see as well and that's what the bleeding was from? Everything crossed you have at least 1 healthy baby in there!

    @J1006  So sorry for your BFN. I hope July is your month!

    @moni2016 I'm sorry you're dealing with bleeding and all the worry. I have had a significant amount of blood loss during pregnancy where the fetus was still OK. I'm wondering if the "black area" near the other sac was a SCH as they show up as black space on an ultrasound. Fingers crossed that everything is OK and you still have a little bean in there! Do you go back for another u/s any time soon?

    @dmo1371 Good luck with your beta tomorrow!

    @moni2016 I'm sorry you are dealing with that stress! FX that everything is okay!!

    AFM, I am just testing out my trigger. 10 days past trigger and I still have a very faint line. I don't want to keep testing (this is probably the 4th of 5th test I've taken) so I think I'm just call it as pretty much almost out of my system. I don't plan on testing for real until the day of my beta next Wednesday (14DPO).

  • So my hcg only went from 36 (13dpo) to 58.6 (15dpo). It's not looking good. They are having me come back Sunday for another beta. I'm heartbroken, and I work tonight (in the nursery) so... This was our third IUI, so I don't know what the plan will be from here.

    @Kim41313 & @GG620 - FX for you guys!

  • @Norms463 Sorry about your bfn!
    @dmo1371 I hope your beta continue to rise. Maybe it stuck slightly late. It almost double in 48 hours so that's good.
    @moni2016 Sorry your dealing with that! I hate this process has so many ups and downs!
    @J1006 Sorry for your bfn!

    Well...my update is I went back for testing since my cd12 testing only showed a bunch a tiny follies and two that were 10mm. Well,  today cd 15 and I only have one that is 11mm and now three that are 10mm! It is so annoying. Back on Monday for more bloodwork and ultrasound. How doesn't that even happen...I thought they grew 1/2 to 1 mm a day. Was hoping at least one Would be like 12 or 13mm. Going to try to enjoy the weekend before I'm back at it.

    Hope you all have a nice wekend!
