Re: Introduce yourself here :)

  • Hi, welcome, and good luck on the lap @jessicarenee70! I've been through 3 laps for endometriosis and would be happy to answer any questions you have.  I'm also a former social worker for Children and Family Services but have moved on to a much less stressful job. Glad you joined us and hope your stay is short and sweet!

Thank you so much!! What was your experience with it? My surgeon said he'd be excising any endo instead of burning/lasering. How long was your recovery time?
Yes! SW can be super stressful! Especially in Children and Family Services. I'm glad you transitioned to something that wasn't as stressful--social work just isn't worth it if the stress drives you insane.

I took a week off work each time and felt that was plenty. I know people who returned to work on the 4th day but I could never do it. I was 100% better within a week for two surgeries but developed a staph infection after one which caused some obvious complications. I think part of recovery time is how aggressive they have to be and where the endometriosis is found. I also had excision surgery, which is considered to be the better of the two.

The third day has has always been the worst for me. They pump yourabdomen full of gas so they can see/maneuver better during surgery. It can cause a lot of back pain, shoulder pain, and really uncomfortable bloating/distention for a few days. Other than that it's just being really sore. I'm not sure if you have pain now but it was absolutely a life saver for me each time and totally worth it. I cried tears of joy the last time my doctor agreed I needed another cleaning. You should also be prepared to have some bleeding for a week or so but it wasn't any worse than a period.

  • Hello! My name is Sarah and I'll be 37 tomorrow. Never in the last 6 years did I think I would be on this board, but I am! My husband has said a strict no to having another baby for so long now, I lost all hope. He had a huge change of heart last weekend and agreed to have a baby again. Since then, he's been active and receptive to baby names, godparent selection, looking at baby furniture and we even have a plan in place for what we will do in our house for bedroom arrangements!

    Ages: I'm 37 and he's 47.

When TTC: June 2018. Have to wait a year until our twin sons are older and to pay for our fertility treatments over 12 months.

Tell us about yourself: I'm 37 and have been married for 12 years. I have twin boys who are 5 who were born through an iui cycle. I have a Lhasa Apso female dog and a hamster plus three fish. I'm a supply teacher. I enjoy watching DVD box sets and reality tv. Right now,  watching the Melrose box set.

I have my first fertility appointment on May 30. My husband and I have decided to do gender selection Ivf to have a daughter. We also want to do the optimal intervention so we don't have another set of twins. We are really excited. I look forward to getting to know everyone here and making new friends!!
  • Welcome @mommyoftwinsons ! How exciting, good luck!

    Hi!

Ages (you and SO): I'm 35, DH is 34

What brings you to BOTB?  Weeellllll, like others on this thread I was originally in the J16 birth month (Hi everyone!)  and I've had baby fever big time since LO was about 6 months old.  Instead of lurking in other birth months I figured I would park it here for now :).  The biggest obstacle right now is that I started a new job at the end of Feb and we have to wait 12 months for FMLA to be available.  The second biggest obstacle is figuring out how to afford child care for another baby!  I'm definitely feeling a bit rushed for #2 at 35.

When will you start TTC?  We will probably not officially start to TTC, but not prevent in July.

Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) I have a 17 month old daughter, and a 4 year old step daughter, two cats: Ellie and Lexi, and at risk of sounding cheesy, an amazing husband/best friend.  I work in health insurance compensation. The hobbies are pretty limited at this point but I'm really into genealogy, baking, and when I can I work out and run.

    Edit for typo

  • Whoops! Jumped into a thread without doing the sticky. I know better, I promise!

    Ages (you and SO):

    Me 28, SO 43

    What brings you to BOTB?

I'm trying to tell my ovaries to simmer down while I really want to TFAS.

    When will you start TTC?
Hopefully in 6 months to a year. My SO is one and done and I've always imagined 2 so we agreed to table the conversation until DS is at least 18 months (as per the WHO recommended length of time between full term pregnancies)

Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.)
Mama to a little munchkin who turns one next week.
    No pets at the moment.
Going back to work mid July to a promotion (yay!) but I'm nervous because I've been gone a year and it's all new responsibilities and it's shift work so I'll miss bedtime and morning wakeup half the time.
Interests? What interests? I'd post stuff other than hanging out with my kid but all I do is hang out with my kid. :)
  • @Jennyleigh16 - it's all good we are pretty chill here :) Welcome! I hope that your DH comes around soon. That is a tough spot to be in.
    Congratulations on the promotion!
  • Hi fellow Jennifer @jennyleigh16! Hopefully we can help you with your baby fever (either by fulfilling it or making it worse lmao). Looking forward to seeing you around!
  • Ha! Probably by making it worse! Thanks for the welcome @JennyColada @glitzandglitter

Ages (you and SO): Both 26 until my birthday next month.

What brings you to BOTB? I'm an information sponge.

When will you start TTC? Have to discuss with SO first. Hopefully in the next few months to year. I haven't been on BC for 7 years, we don't use protection either but I avoid sex during the fertile part of the month. I take Vitex sporadically (when my period is late), but need to start taking it regularly.

Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) I'm divorced, no kids from that. Been with SO for just over a year, we moved in together 2 months ago. SO has 2 kids from previous relationship that we have full-time, 2 yo DSD and 4 yo DSS (almost birthday time!) who I adore, treat as my own etc. Their mom hardly sees them (her choice) and they don't call me mom, and despite what she tells everyone I'm not trying to steal them. By chance I've known them since birth so it isn't a huge change for them.
I love animals but the house we're renting does not allow pets. I plan to find and buy a nice piece of land in a rural setting where I can have a garden and raise my own food along with pets. I very much believe in self-sufficiency.
I was previously a store manager but I'm trying a lower stress job to help lose weight and balance my new family life. I also write articles, papers, and website content, and try to manage our household in my spare time. I don't have a degree but I'm great with computers and work on them from time to time.
Previous 4 yr marriage was to a sterile/low-fertility man(boy) who constantly bullied me over not becoming pregnant so it's still a sore spot. SO couldn't care less if he had more kids but I do want one of my own. I have fibroids? Or I did when I was younger due to trauma. Looking for a new doc because my old one refused to look at anything fertility related. Told me that if God wanted me to have a child I would and she was doing me a favor.
Also trying to lose 40 pounds.
  • @Seea - Welcome to BOTB!
  • @Seea Welcome aboard! And wow, your old doctor was certainly a treat. I hope you get some better answers from your new one!

What brings you to BOTB? I was here on TTGP in 2010-2011, a member of the October 2011 BMB, a lurker on the July 2013 BMB, and then after deciding I was done with babies, have gotten mega Baby Fever for #3 (and #4!). I had my IUD removed on 6/6 and this has been our first cycle trying. It took us 6 months the first time and 1 cycle the second time, so who knows what will happen. I'd rather hang out here than TTGP for now, if that's okay with y'all. And just so you guys know, I'm nuts. We decided to not temp or use OPK's this cycle just to see what happened, and I had crazy cramping on CD15 and CD16 and I POAS on CYCLE DAY 16. Then I realized I was crazy and needed some Bump support. So keep me off the pee sticks until CD27, mmmk?
When will you start TTC? Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) Two cycles of not trying, not preventing, and then will actively try in August. If it doesn't happen by October we'll have to wait a year. We have two awesome girls (5 and 4), two dogs, a horse, and love everything outdoors - hiking, camping, climbing, kayaking, etc.
    Waiting for #3!
