Re: Introduce yourself here :)

  • Thank you everyone!

@notthefather how long did you eventually wait? My sister and I are 5 years apart and although we are close now, it was a big difference growing up. I'm struggling with that.

I don't have kids yet, but I have babysat a lot. So, coming from that standpoint I think I would like our kids closer together (about 2 years). I just recently watched 3 siblings: 5, 4, and 2 year old. The 5 year old and 2 year old weren't on the same page when playing together. I felt like the 5 year old could be trusted on the swing or slide (in the backyard) but the 2 year old, I felt, needed to be watched constantly to assure she didn't fall off the slide or something similar. Now, I'm not saying I just left he 5 year old alone by herself or anything!

Granted, I am sure as a mom you learn how to juggle things like that, of course.

  • @notthefather, it can actually be a really good thing sometimes.  The older one gets to feel really proud of how grown-up she is when she helps with an infant sibling, and as they grow up they will definitely still get that special sibling bond.  Especially if you really try to encourage it.  My 3.5-year-old son is probably closer with our 10-year-old daughter than with any of his other sibs, including our 1.5-year-old son.

  • My siblings and I are all within five years of each other (brother in 81, me in 84, sister in 86) and I have no kids yet, so I can't speak from experience, but my husband and his brother are about seven or eight years apart. They were very distant growing up and it hasn't changed much. My sister has a ten year old and is currently pregnant with her second, so her kids will be about eleven years apart. Hopefully it won't be too difficult for them.

Ages (you and SO): 29 (30 in june) and 33 (i think, haha)
What brings you to BOTB? I'm ready to TTGP, but DH isn't quite there yet, so we are in this weird NTNP place where we aren't using protection, but we aren't really trying either. This leaves me in a weird spot because I don't feel like i really fit in with TTGP (and the culture of that board seems really strict about what is TTGP and who can post and where. I feel like you have to qualify in a way to post there now?), but there isn't a NTNP board. You guys seem laid back and cool, so maybe I fit in here? And I'd like some ladies to talk to regarding how this inbetween - ready but not ready - situation. I feel a little batty waiting to actually TTGP.
When will you start TTC? DH says after my birthday at the latest (late June). He mentioned he wanted to do a little pre-TTGP getaway just the two of us. I haven't been away overnight from our son since he was born in September so we haven't really had any time to really let loose. He wants an opportunity to re-connect a bit before adding more to the crazy. Also, I'm weaning from exclusively pumping breastmilk for my 7 month old, so I was in part waiting for my period to return. Well it just came back so I'm like "let's goooooo" but DH is still hesitant.
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.)
I work at a small nonprofit and it is okay. Ideally, I'll have a new one before I get KU again, but I also don't want to wait to KU based on a getting a new job. I  have one dog, a standard poodle, and he is the best. I talk about him a lot because he is so important to me. I have one son who is 7 months old and he is the happiest baby. I'd like my children to be close in age, so I'd rather start TTGP sooner rather than later.

If I don't fit in here, just tell me to go away. I won't take it personally i swear.

  • @denimjeans - Welcome! It sounds like this board is a good fit for you. I was planning on starting a WTO/TWW thread this Sunday for the ladies that are ready to NTNP/TTGP.
  • @denimjeans - You are totally welcome! You actually sound like a perfect fit for our board. Right now we are made up of NTNP and ladies who are waiting and will be trying soon. Several of the women here voiced that they would like to remain here when they start trying so we will have a TWW and a WTO once a week for them. Feel free to post whereever you would like here :)

    @notthefather - you are correct :)

@chloandcoco - Squee!!!! I am so excited that we are getting to the point that we will have ladies posting on a TWW/WTO post :)
  • @denimjeans you're totally welcome and we're glad to have you!!!

  • Hi all, figure I might hang out here for awhile. I was active in TTGP and my birth month boards for my 2 children, and as DD approaches her first birthday, I'm considering whether or not to have a 3rd. In the meantime, I will stick around here!

Hi guys. I've been lurking, so I'll introduce myself so I'm not a random poster.

Ages (you and SO): we are both 25
What brings you to BOTB? I have an adorable 9 month old ds (July 2016) and I'm starting to consider baby number 2. I'm not actively ttc so I don't think I belong on the ttc board yet. I lurk around a lot, and I happened across this board so figured I might see if I fit in better here.
When will you start TTC? Around ds's first birthday. I want them close, and I also want to be done with pregnancy. *Tw* I had a late term loss followed by a really rough pregnancy and birth and have had pretty bad ppa/ppd so I just want to be done *end tw*. I'm still periodless so that might cause some issues.
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) I'm a science assistant at a high school. I'm a trained teacher, but when I got sick the first pregnancy I dropped back and have just stayed at the easier job. DH is an engineer, working on housing developments. We have 2 dogs (Samwell and Tarly). DH is a board game nerd, and I'm very bookish. I love Harry Potter, Twilight, Vampire Academy, Miss Peregrine, and other series of a similar genre.

Hopefully you don't mind having me here :)

Little boy due July 31st 2016

  • Welcome @LilLambie! Sorry for your loss. We are glad to have you here! I'm also a big HP fan and you will find many more on this board!

@LilLambie fellow j16 here too and I totally feel ya with the "just be done with pregnancy." ETA I am so sorry for your loss and having to deal with PPA/PPD <3

i hope it's okay I join in on the fun too. I don't quite know where I fit either.

Ages: me 27 (28 soon) and DH is 39

BOTB: I'm here because I don't feel like it fit on the TTGP board and it seems like there are a lot of awesome ladies here that are in the same boat.

TTC: so, this is tough because technically we aren't playing with a goalie and I'm tracking in FF, but I keep going back and forth between being one and done and giving my DD a sibling. Our plan right now is to officially start in June (I'll miss May because my cycles are ~40 days) and re-evaluate in Nov.

Me: I'm a high school math teacher, and DH is a high school dean of discipline. We have a 9mo old daughter and an almost 2 year old ADHD dog.  I love everything from summer days to the walking dead to real housewives. I'm excited to be a part of a community again, and really look forward to getting to know you ladies!

What brings you to BOTB? We are planning to TTC in two weeks and I want to read if I'm the only woman that does craaaazy BOTB stuff pre-TTC! :-p
When will you start TTC? TWO WEEKS!
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) We do not have any kids or pets - we had a dog for six years that passed away two years ago. She was the love of our lives. We've since moved, gotten new jobs and bought and furnished our first home, as well as saved money. So now we are ready for baby and SOOOOO excited!!!

What brings you to BOTB? We are getting ready to start the whole TTC thing.  I have been ready for a few years, but we kept pushing is back for this reason or another. I have been on here a few times, but every time we put it off I drift away from the pregnancy websites.

When will you start TTC? The beginning of June.  I am off my cholesterol medication and I have been taking vitamins for over a year now.

Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) We don't have any kids yet, but we do have a dog (Dobie mix).  We are both engineers, I am mechanical and DH is electrical. I have found my dream job and have loved every minute of it.  I am semi big into running.  I also do cake decorating on the side.
