What brings you to BOTB? I'm ready to try, especially given my age. My husband is trying to get through a hard time at work and would like to wait a couple more months, given the fact he may be job-hunting soon.
When will you start TTC? Hoping for June. July for sure.
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) I'm a librarian who works from home and keep our kitties company all day. We have two, Bella and Callie, and they're both loving the extra attention and company. I read a ton when I'm not working and rock out to country music at the gym 5 days a week to get more in shape. H and I bake a lot and recently made devils food peanut butter cupcakes and french vanilla cupcakes. we're not pie people, because we don't like pie dough, but love on all the cakes and cupcakes there could be! also like baking bread, but i don't do much of it.
I think this is the best place for me, since we're not TTC yet, but i've done the crazy things and bought some sleepers and socks, but have no baby! (insert shameful face) Definitely babies on the brain.
What brings you to BOTB? Stopped BCP but TTA until July/August. Looking for similar community. I was on here when I was pregnant/had my son a couple years ago and loved the friends I made.
When will you start TTC? July/August
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) Hi everyone, glad to meet you. You all seem like a chill little group and I look forward to getting to know you all. Just as an FYI don't be afraid of TTGP They rules are there just to prevent drive byes, and d/t some history here, and none of you are that. ANYWAY....I have two teenage step children, one who is off to college and the other that is a moody unpredictable teenage girl LOL. My husband and I have a 2.5y.o. son. We were originally going to try to two under two, however I decided when my son was one that I wanted to change careers so we decided to wait until I finish the first degree in my journey this May. I'm a pretty big chatter so I should hopefully get to know all of you all soon.
Welcome, @kindbytealikat! What are you doing for your career change, if you don't mind my asking? I hope the stepkid going to college has a good time! Honestly, as far as the TTGP board, it seems like a nice place, I'm just cautious. Like a few of us said, I don't want to post in the wrong place with the wrong thing and get the ban hammer.
@kindbytealikat - welcome! I have been on TTGP when I was previously TTC (different screen name) I enjoyed my time there. I don't really feel like I fit there right now so I hang around here. I do think I will eventually post on both but after getting to know the ladies here I don't want to leave
@dreamscapes_ I've been in healthcare, CNA then LPN, since my junior year high school. I'm now studying to become an elementary teacher, second is my preference. The step kid has been 6 hours away all year but will be home in a couple weeks for the summer.
@catlady2015 I love kitties and I love cookies lol
@kindbytealikat I used to be a CNA! I wanted to go to nursing school, but over time I realized I couldn't deal with my patients passing away (I mainly worked at nursing homes). I went to pastry school instead!
@dreamscapes_ I was in nursing homes for 5ish years, both as CNA and LPN. After my grandmother died I couldn't handle it anymore. I loved it but needed a break from the heartache, so I went into clinic nursing after that. That is where I learned doctors can be some of the hardest people to work "with/under" and I got sick of the "God" complex
dreamscapes_ I mostly just decorate cakes for friends. Here are a few I have done. I took a beginners class 2 years ago and I am just going with what I know.
This is pretty much the only "creative" thing I can do. My dad draws, my sister does tattoos and paints, and my brother is in three different bands and used to run a haunted house. My dad is always going on about "their art", and I'm like "Yeah, well, mine is edible. So there. :P "
@kindbytealikat Welcome!! I'm not afraid of TTGP, I spent many years on that board in years past. Just not my scene. Congrats on finishing your degree.
What brings you to BOTB? I've been lurking on the TTGP board for a few months now but don't feel like I can participate there yet, so I was looking for somewhere I can participate more actively while I'm waiting to start TTC. I've seen some of the posts on here but definitely feel like I have some more lurking to do to catch up on what the community feel is and what the posting guidelines are, so I apologize in advance if I do anything wrong - feel free to correct me!
When will you start TTC? As soon as I'm able to, which depends on when I get my first post-partum AF. DS is 13.5 months old and is only nursing in the morning and in the evenings, but still no AF. My OB-GYN said that my body just might be very sensitive to BF, that it doesn't take much to suppress my fertility hormones (or something along those lines). But, we are weaning him from the morning nursing sessions (well, mostly he weaned himself from it) this week, so I'm hoping that maybe in the next few weeks the factory will slowly start to come back to life and I'll have AF within the next month. But, who knows, could still be a while.
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) As mentioned, DS is 13.5 months old (born March 2016), and no pets, though I'd love to have a dog later on when we have more time to take care of one. I work in health care, on the legal and compliance side. We're currently in the DC metro area but are looking to move further west to be closer to family. We're both job hunting now, and have some prospects, just need everything to work out in terms of timing (that we both have job offers, and then can figure out a good time for the move). It's a bit stressful thinking about TTC and a possible job change, but we've accepted that we'll just roll with it, whatever happens. I like to cook, go hiking on the weekends, watch shows on Netflix/Amazon/Hulu (at this point I feel like I have so many that I can't really name favorites - just depends on the time of year), and read. I like to read both easy/fun "chick lit" and mysteries, and fantasy books.
@happyhiccup Welcome! We're a pretty laid back group and I don't think we have that many board-specific guidelines (I actually can't even think of any that aren't just general Bump guidelines, but it might be brain fog). Good luck with the job interview and getting the factory back in order!
What brings you to BOTB? I'm not sure if anyone else here is in the same boat, it seems like most people are planning to try in the next few months -- I am probably not trying for about a year, but babies are most definitely on the brain! This (and other boards) seems like a good place to get all the real-deal info about trying, pregnancy, etc.
When will you start TTC? Hoping for next year, sooner would be wonderful. We're basically waiting because of job/financial reasons.I've been working freelance for a year and want to find a stable full-time job again hopefully, get a bigger apartment and build up some more savings.
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) I work in TV production, SO teaches and works in theater. We live in Brooklyn, no kids yet. I love yoga, cooking and reading!
@Knottiee1aa539a431c4299 - Welcome! Sounds like you will fit right in here Might I suggest changing your username though? The Knottiee with a million numbers and letters is hard to tag for responses and they kind of blend in with all the other Knottiees.
ETA: I saw your post above we must have been typing at the same time lol
@happyhiccup Hope you get AF soon. I was in a similar boat after LO#1, I was down to nursing only once a day and no AF. Literally 2 days after I dropped that last session at 12m I got AF.
@whitealbum29 This sounds like the perfect board for you to hang, and we are happy to have you. Hope this next year goes quick and you'll be ready to go when it's time. If you haven't already the link at the top of the TTGP board is super informative. Reading up on charting and fertility (Taking Charge of your Fertility) really helped me while we were new to TTGP.
What brings you to BOTB? The babies on the brain-ness is driving me INSANE! Everyone tells me to just be patient and I do need a lot of patience, but also I'm just feeling super ready to be able to try!!
When will you start TTC? Most likely late summer/early fall. I'm getting a laparoscopy done on Tuesday to look for endometriosis, and my husband is waiting to hear if he gets his promotion at the end of June. If the promotion gives him the salary increase we're expecting, we'll be okay! And then I'll do my best to not pressure him all summer he's still feeling really young but also excited to expand our family!
Tell us about yourself (kids, pets, job, interests, etc.) I'm a social worker at a nonprofit in Philly which has me placed at a children's hospital--talk about being surrounded by babies! I love kickboxing and recently started doing/loving yoga, and I just discovered that I have a love for cooking! Other than that, we spend our time taking care of our new 100 year old house which keeps us suuuuper busy!
