So we haven't really bought anything yet, don't get me wrong I am always looking but we've decided not to buy anything till we know gender. Or till after the first trimester is through and the NT scan. (Which is tmor) Well this afternoon I opened the door to see what was delivered and it was a HUGE box! My mom went ahead and bought us the crib we wanted! I knew she was going to just not this soon! Lol so we officially have our first baby purchase! Hehe I haven't told DH yet, waiting for him to come home from work and be surprised! Is it too soon to put it together?! Lol
I bought some clothes this weekend for baby now that we know we're having a boy and that we're on the threshold of the second tri.
We also got my crib (from when I was a baby) down out of storage at my mom's house, built it back up and decided it is fit for the next generation. This isn't a purchase, but it feels like a momentous decision. Most of our "for the nursery" furniture is hand me downs from one or more previous generations. I love having the family history, and saving a significant chunk of change does not hurt either.
We've been buying $10 gift cards every time we go to Target. Someone here made the suggestion and I think it's fucking genius! It'll be a big help when it comes to diapers. I'm hoping DD is potty trained by thr time LO comes, but we shall see!
Since we found out yesterday we are being blessed with a baby girl, the gloves are OFF and let the fun begin! I been eyeing these up at target and purchased them today! In time when we reveal on FB these will be used in the picture my SIL will be taking of DH, the pups and I.
I haven't bought anything yet. We still had the big stuff from DD and my best friend has one year old twins so a lot of her stuff is coming out way. One suggestion- I have started a private Amazon Wish List. It's just so I can keep track of stuff that you all suggest or things that I think of. It's been helpful and it feels like I'm 'doing something' which helps my anxiety levels.
@dkizz82 I keep joking with DH , how on earth are we going to make it to the baby shower without buying everything ourselves!? Lol he is just as excited!
@andipandicWed121369 DH started one of those for himself. He's super excited about the Halo Bassinet, The Owlet and The Mission Critical Baby Carrier. So funny. He just loves getting those Amazon points.
So o got an email today reminding me my $10 carters rewards was about to expire. I may or may not of went and bought boy clothes. I'll exchange if it's a girl.
Reviving this old thread because I made my first baby purchase! I've been working on a registry to get organized and noticed that one of my dream strollers was selling at $199 instead of the usual $550-750. All the reviews are from the last few weeks, so I didn't trust the deal to last and bit the bullet...
We live on a dirt road, with a dirt driveway, and I walk my dog for miles every day, so I was probably going to splurge on a premium off-roading stroller anyway, but I'm so psyched to get an amazing stroller at a heavy discount! And with the carry cot, too!
@Amber_Waves nice score!! I got my stroller with an awesome discount before DS2 was born and I never regretted it.
i just made my first big purchase as well. I bought a new infant car seat. It was the brand and model I wanted on sale so I ordered it. I don't need a whole lot for this baby as it's number 3 (although my want/needs list mysteriously is growing haha), but our infant car seat we had for DS1 was purchased 6 years ago so it's now expired.
DS picked out a lovey for LO today. That's our first purchase so far. We are waiting for almost everything until we find out the sex, which isn't until the end of July.
We have a ton of stuff from DD that we'll be using, even tho we don't know the sex of baby #2 yet. With DD we had a ton of white onsies and neutral pants so I'll be diving into those first.
But the first thing I'm eager to buy is a 'milk snob' cover! I've been green with envy at the ones I've seen. Yay!
Us too! They were on sale on Amazon so I bought 2 boxes. I was sitting watching TV with the (still-unopened) boxes across the room from me and they were all I could smell! Funny how certain smells have become SO pronounced. DH says seeing those diapers in our house is making this feel so much more real.
@Kirss does she sit in a stroller now? We are getting a double because DD will only be 28 months old and will need to be contained. And she'll be with me all the time. I'm guessing yours will be in school? Maybe you could get a sit stand stroller.
@dkizz82 she will use a stroller if we go somewhere with a lot of walking, like the zoo or amusement park, it won't be all.the.time, so I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on something that might get used a dozen times. Also I've been looking at some S&S's, however they say it's better for children closer in age.
@Kirss i thought it was the opposite, that most sit and stands are better if your one child is older because they will primarily stand or have a small space for occasional riding but not a full, comfortable seat
i'm torn on this because my DS will be just past his third birthday. if he was a year older or younger we would fall more clearly on one side or the other of the full double vs. sit and stand debate

@anewadventure The way I was understanding was that it'd be more comfy for say a NB and 2 year old to bc the 2 year old was smaller, and with the baby carrier less room? I need to get to BRU and test drive them. Also that is a tough one! Maybe find a nice one at a Mom 2 Mom and get both
As part of my "trying to stay hopeful" campaign, I started working on our registries yesterday! I know that a lot of stuff will probably change between now and baby time, but right now it feels more like planning than pinning and that makes me feel better
My question is - BuyBuyBaby just sent me a 20% off coupon. Do they ever get better or bigger than this? Is it likely they'll keep sending me these kinds of coupons (the 20% off range), or is it probably a discount specifically because I started the registry? I'm asking because 20% would go a long way on the big items, but I'm also on a lot of other retailer email lists and they're constantly sending out coupons and discounts, sometimes up to 40% off. Thanks!!
ETA - same question for BRU. Do they send a lot of coupon and discount emails?

@whiska 20% is as good as it gets at BBB, but they send them all of the time so don't feel like you need to run out and use that one. Every now and then I might get a $10 off 30 as well I think? You can also use Bed Bath and Beyond coups there.
We just got a glider and ottoman at a garage sale for $20! It retails for $330 on Amazon. I'm not crazy about the upholstery so we may replace the cushions which is probably $100+ but still!
Does anyone know what an Aiden and Anais Musy is? It's 70 cm x 70 cm, which is close to only half the size of the swaddles so I'm trying to figure out what they're used for. I found a print I really like but I've already bought a blanket for the baby, so I'm trying to decide what I should grab...
@whiska - I've heard that Buy Buy Baby is a bit stricter than Bed Bath and Beyond on the expiration dates of the coupons, but takes both. I've never had Bed Bath and Beyond turn down an expired coupon.
I went to Buy Buy Baby today to start my registry. Something was wrong with the gun and the only thing that saved was the first 3 items I scanned...muslin blankets....

I went today (well, dragged H so I could show him the stroller I really wanted lol) and we ended up walking all over the store. There's a scanner function in the app, so I scanned a few things with my phone while we were browsing. Super easy way to add to the registry right there.
I made the mistake of taking him to the strollers first, and he's all like, "what about this one? Or this one? It's cheaper. What about this cheaper model???" I was finally like, "This is the one thing where there is no room for negotiation. I've been researching and looking forward to this purchase for a few years. Fight me on cloth diapers, painting the nursery, or whatever else. Just not this." He can be such a buzzkill!

Didn't want to start a new thread so dug back and found this one... I made my first purchase last night for this baby. Since we have everything we really need I don't need to purchase much, but I got myself a wildbird sling. They come highly recommended and had a flash sale last night, which I guess doesn't happen to often. I'll have to practice with one of my boys since I didn't babywear much the first time around (mainly because it was hard with two).
oh, belatedly noticing the buy buy baby coupon question. i agree that 20% is what you'll get, you'll get it often, and you can use BBB coupons that are unexpired. however, the list of exclusions in the fine print is like MILES long so pay attention to this before you make plans on where to buy what. sometimes i think they should abbreviate the fine print to "this coupon is valid for 10 items in our entire store. good luck."

@anewadventure I'm thinking they aren't too strict with the coupons. The bottom says it can't be used on Babyletto brand, but they let my mom use one when she ordered our Babyletto crib!
