This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say, and treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Any questions? So when I was doing my testing cycle, she counted 12 antral follicles on my left and 8 on my right. For last week's monitoring g appointment to, the other doctor marked four on each ovary on the ultrasound. I am hoping she just cared about the four biggest but I intermittently worry about it. Is this common practice at other clinics?

I went to the beach all summer as a child (my parents still have a house and we do long weekends there) and it's a small and safe beach town vs the urban area I lived in so we had so much more freedom... riding bikes, going to the beach on our own. It's where I got into all my teenage mischief and it was awesome.

@WillRunForWine21 Your first AFC number seems impossible with your amh...I have no idea how it would be possible to change that much between counts, and I also don't think you could have an amh under 1 and that many antral follicles. The four and four sounds much more realistic. My first amh (before lifestyle changes) was 1.7 and I had 12 antral follicles, which the RE told me is typical. They should correlate closely. But who knows -- maybe you have really good ovaries hiding under that amh?
Afm -- scheduled for a repeat d&c on Wednesday unless I get a period so I'm reeeeeeeeally hoping for AF to come today or tomorrow! I have seriously eaten more parsley and papaya in the last few days than in my entire life.

As a kid it was the excitement and anticipation of the end of school (mid-end of May), when my mom's tulips were coming up it would mean the end of school was fast approaching. Now living on the west coast I don't feel like our summers start until the end of July, it is always disappointing to have to wait so long for summer to start.
@WillRunForWine21 Happy to hear you are already doing treatments for this cycle, hope that your check-in tomorrow is all good news! I haven't had my antral follies counted either.
@antoto Happy to hear everything this morning was looking good. FX for more good news on your estrogen levels!

On top of the TTC stress - my dog has severe separation anxiety and nothing has worked to help her. She at a wall in our new apartment a couple of weeks ago in the 90 minutes that she was alone one day. So this weekend I had to move her to my parents house. For some reason she doesn't have the same problems there. I'm sad but its the best thing for her.
Any questions?

Any questions? Those of you that did IUI, did you wait at the RE while they did the sperm washing and all that? They told us it could take up to two hours to get that done so I'm trying to figure out if we'll go home in between or if they expect us to sit there.
GTKY: In honor of the first unofficial weekend of summer... What is a great summer memory you have? It can be childhood or adulthood, just the first happy memory that you associate with the summer season
Pool parties! My parents had a pool put in when I was in 4th grade and at the end of the school year we always had a pool party with our friends to kick off the summer. That and going to the beach since we lived about fifteen minutes from the water.

Well RE office called back with e2 levels. Still low, but they aren't going to increase my dosage of anything, probably because they don't want any additional follicles. It's really hard not to feel anxious. To me it feels like there are probably some follicles that do not have eggs in them, or maybe they are low quality.
I have to keep reminding myself that I cannot possibly control any of this and that Googling stuff isn't going to change anything. I just have to trust the process.
@antoto Glad things are looking good so far! Hang in there.
@adirat Wishing for AF for you so hard. And continuing to send you a million hugs, any way. I'm really sorry things are not going well for you.
@ramzlau I'm so glad you were able to get in touch with your RE. She sounds awesome. FX for you this cycle! Don't Google; meditate. :-)
@LoveinDC I'm excited for you and your first medicated cycle. I hope Clomid does wonders for you. Since I'm anovulatory too, I'm the same way with thinking even if I just ovulate, it's still a little win. Here's to ovulation but hopefully more! Shoot questions off any time you have them.
@laurad75 Let us know how your RE appt goes tomorrow. I'm sorry you had to re-home your dog. That must be hard, but it's good to see she is doing better at your parents.
@shortstack930 FX for your IUI!
Cycle/CD: 8 (month 16)/CD 8
Any questions? Did your IUI hurt? My HSG was very painful, which I know usually it isn't, and I am afraid the IUI will hurt too. I've looked this up online, but I want to hear firsthand from some of you ladies I trust.
GTKY: In honor of the first unofficial weekend of summer... What is a great summer memory you have? It can be childhood or adulthood, just the first happy memory that you associate with the summer season
My neighbors had a pool, and a lot of my summer memories involve playing in the pool all day long with the neighbor kids.
@laurad75 I'm sorry to hear about your pup. It's so hard to grapple with knowing something is the right decision but wanting to do something different because you'll be so sad about it. I hope you'll be able to see your doggie regularly though!
@WillRunForWine21 So the AMH egg quantity vs. quality issue is up for debate in the literature. From reading extensively about my specific condition and talking to my RE, it seems that there is some link but it isn't a guarantee. More likely it depends on what caused your low AMH, which of course for the vast majority of women we don't know. Plenty of women with low AMH have no egg quality issues -- they don't have many left but what they have are still good. Other women with low AMH have exhausted their best eggs early and do have higher rates of poor egg quality. Even women with extremely low AMH do still find good eggs, though -- the chances are just worse in any individual cycle. Have you looked into egg quality lifestyle changes? My AMH went from 1.7 to 2.9 with doing what's in It Starts with the Egg. (That said, my low AMH is caused by the fragile x premutation, a condition that causes follicle recruitment problems, so YMMV. But my RE was impressed.) My original AMH of 1.7 at age 27 is in the bottom 10% for my age, but now 2.9 at age 28 is "low-normal." (Small victories are king in IF I suppose.)
@adirat fx so hard for AF, I know it's not something we typically say but I'm really hoping along with you that AF shows before Wednesday!
@antoto yay glad to hear things are progressing well! Any idea when your RE thinks you're ER will be around?
@ramzlau glad that your doc responded and was ontop of everything to get your IUI done today!!
@vflux33 gif game was strong on that one!
@safire3 I hope that you have a great vacation and come back feeling refreshed from from TTC related things!!
@LoveInDC woohoo for WTO, sorry for the miserable AF! Fx so hard that you ovulate!!!
@shortstack930 my RE staggers the IUI appointments each hour so they only process one sperm sample at a time. DH produced the sample gave it to the tech who had it washed and ready to go in 20 minutes with a printout of the count of his sperm morph and motility. That seems like a long time just to wash it especially since the sample needs to stay warm and is only good for a certain amount of time without being frozen. But we did just wait there. I was also scared about the trigger shot I gave it myself and it wasn't bad at all. Good luck let us know how it goes!
@madspunk I also had pain during my hsg and got a bladder infection from it so I was worried about IUI. It didn't hurt at all, was quick and painless. They had me lay on the table for 15 minutes after just for good measure. I felt perfectly fine when I left. Good luck!!!!

letrozole trigger IUI prayer
Tested out my trigger yesterday because it's still too early to test and so that if I broke down to test this week that I wouldn't be fooled by it. Trigger is already out of my system. This TWW has felt like forever. Not sure how long I'll be able to wait before legit testing but I'm just taking it one day at a time
Any questions?
None
GTKY: In honor of the first unofficial weekend of summer... What is a great summer memory you have? It can be childhood or adulthood, just the first happy memory that you associate with the summer season
we would go on vacation to the boardwalk every year and even though I grew up by the beach we still always really enjoyed it!
@madspunk my IUIs were not painful at all. I know sometimes if there isn't a clear "roadmap" it can be uncomfortable. The only thing that was painful during my HSG was the cramping I experienced when the dye was being pushed through.
@shortstack930 we always went and grabbed breakfast while we waited for the washing to be completed. It took about an hour.
@adirat thank you so much for all of that and for always being patient with those (like myself) who have not done a good job at researching through the crazy amounts out there. I am on chapter 3 of "it starts with the egg" and I have included some of the supplement questions on my list of questions for the RE tomorrow. As far as general lifestyle I can definitely tighten up but starting with DH diagnoses of celiac disease and diabetes a couple years ago, refined sugar decreases and increased antioxidant dietary changes have been rampant. We only use glass food storage and for drinking ando i switched out all my beauty products for GF ones which are also typically free of parabens and phthalates. If I wear makeup or put on perfume once a month, that's a lot. I know there is a lot more to be done and always can be better but goodness I shudder to think what that number was 2 years ago! I'm definitely on board with the book though and want to look into ubiquinol, alpha lipoic (DH takes it regularly for nerve health) and DHEA. I hope the doctor booked me for a long appointment!

@madspunk Thank you for the reminder to meditate! I will be doing that! My HSG hurt because I had a tube spasm, but the IUI today was actually less painful than a pap smear. I did spot a bit after, which I have already googled is totally normal, but just FYI. Will have my fx for you! When is your follie check?
@antoto fx that you have many healthy beauts in all those follies! You are so strong and rocking this process!
@beachbunnyxo123 was just thinking about you today wondering what day you were on now. Sending calm vibes to stay away from POAS!
@shortstack930 I gave myself the trigger shot as well, it is a really fine needle and if you sit down the belly fat bunches better, I barely feel it. Our RE office said 45 min for the wash, and suggested we go out to breakfast while we wait for the procedure appointment that was schedule 2.5 hours later, then called us back early saying it was all ready after just an hour. Once we got into the room the whole process took 15 min including lay down for 10 min following procedure.
@laurad75 Sorry to hear you had to move your pup to your parents. That is hard, even if you still get to see them, just not the same. Good for you for making the hard decision for what was best for the pup though. Hope your week gets better! Let us know how your RE appointment goes!
@LadyMillil Everything crossed for you girl. I am so excited for you!!!
@antoto Good luck this week!
@adirat I'm thinking about you. C'mon AF!
@LadyMillil I'm so crossing everything for you!!!
@antoto It's sooo hard not to turn to Google. It really is. It's easy to tell everyone else not to because we know the dangers but hard to follow that advice!
@madspunk You sound like me before our break. We also took a break due to travel and for mental health. A year ago I would never have imagined that I'd be taking a break, but this IF crap and treatment really does take such a toll. Being on the other side of the break now... It was so worth it. I feel like myself again and it was soo nice to have that time to travel without worry and just have sex when we wanted. Once you're in the midst of the break you might feel better about it.
@antoto can't wait to hear about your egg retrieval!!
@adirat hoping so hard you get AF before Wednesday!
@LadyMillil everything is crossed for you girl!
@LoveInDC good luck with your first medicated cycle!
Tell me if I am being crazy. I'm thinking of delaying the surgery a week to see if my period will come. I'm cd32 post d&e. After a dip yesterday my temp is back up so I'm thinking I'm between 6 and 8dpo. If it's normal to see a period 4-6 weeks after d&e, this would be totally normal too and I could just wait and get a period. I'm taking the prophylactic antibiotics the doc gave me to prevent infection. Is it really so risky to wait one more week (I wouldn't wait longer) to give my body a chance to have a period? I left the doctor a message this morning to ask, but what would you do?

@madspunk We are also likely taking a couple of cycles off from treatment because of travel and life. It’s what makes sense but I agree that its hard to not feel like you are being productive. Also, my IUI did not hurt. While I know some have painful HSG’s and some don’t, I think the IUI is generally not painful. You’ll be fine. J
@adirat I don’t know anything about this but I agree with the girls. It makes sense to request to wait since it seems like AF will come on its own soon.

On the plus side, I did have a nice, relaxing weekend and got to spend some nice time with DH just hanging out.
Any questions?
GTKY: I would say my favorite summer memory would be just hanging out at the local pool. I would go down there when it opened for the day and stay until it closed. It was so much fun and me and my friends always had a blast. We would also usually grab one of the lunches offered by the rec center that the pool was in and although it wasn’t the best of lunches, it seemed pretty good to us at the time!
