@WillRunForWine21 yayy so excited for you!! @heatherdubrow thats good to hear about the needles. A dull needle is just insult to injury. I am a little worried about the headaches since I did get those on Clomid, females and stims. No patches for me just oral estrace after I stop BCP. Although I still have patches from back when they thought I would use a lupron trigger. I plan to donate those at the end of this.
@vflux33 We did aim for a huge army. We are fortified, LOL.
Of course, maybe Stormtroopers are a bad example...they can't hit anything
There are two reasons. First, once he goes on testosterone replacement, he's pretty much infertile. Second, we've been trying for 20 cycles and haven't been successful (*TW* except we kinda were with our loss **end TW**), so we want to be able to continue trying for another year. We'll do 2 rounds each cycle, 1 IUI through a midwife (which is about $350 including sperm washing), and another "turkey baster" style insemination that I will do, to max our chances. So 2 vials a cycle X 12 cycles = 24 vials. We're nothing if not committed, haha.
Anyway, if we are blessed enough to get KU before we're through it all, we have back up. If not, we'll have given it the best try we can....plus I'll be over 44 then...
ETA: Oh! And we'll probably throw a medicated IUI with the fertility clinic in there if we go through 3 or so cycles...then back to plain un-medicated IUIs after that.

@lulu1180 & @ramzlau I just wanted to let you two know that when I talked to my acupuncturist this week about bringing the prolactin down, she was super hopeful. She said she's seen a number of times where getting that in line brought the whole system in line and she's seen success from it. It's no guarantee but it's hope!
@Aurora1973 I hope that giving up dairy pays off. It always makes me feel better to tell myself I can have it in the future, just not right now.
@leekat14 I am rooting so hard for your ovaries. I hope they can hear me cheering from here! Gooooovaries!
@TravelingCouple "...but if you ladies can do it, I can do it." That is my personal rallying cry so often. I was so freaked out about it ("I'm not in the medical profession for a reason! Why are they trusting me with this?!") but really, those needles are so tiny, it's not as bad as you think. You've got this! I'm so excited for you to take some big steps! FX for the house, too. That place looks gorgeous! What's up with the bedrooms? Is one short a closet? Egress? Septic rated for four? (Just curious. I'm always into that stuff. It's unlikely it's a real issue, just might dictate which one you make an office or something. )
@saralee797-2 Haha. TOU violation? What? I don't remember you posting anything that scandalous. I mean, I thought I might have been the one closest to the line with telling her to Google idiot proof birth control.
AFM, I was down in the dumps for a bit but I think I'm back. And it may be purely coincidental but I think it's an interesting correlation that I went into acupuncture feeling low and the next day it was like someone switched life back to full color again.
This week was a clear lesson on how it pays to advocate for yourself. I used to be much more meek and in the whole "I'll just wait here wringing my hands until they contact me" mindset. Today I emailed the RE's office to ask what, if any results we were still waiting on and what the plan is for next cycle since I expect it to start early next week. The nurse responded and told me that the most recent note from the doctor was that she would like to have H and me come in to go over test results and to discuss next steps. Needless to say, I about lost my marbles. I have no interest in twiddling my thumbs for another month. I would have been so upset if CD 1 rolled around and I was already bummed about that only to hear that there's no plan and we can't get an appointment for a week. Fortunately, she actually had an opening and I was able to get an appointment for 8:00 on Monday. Unfortunately, H can't make it. Which I hope they're okay with. We're pretty much on the same page right now anyways. All of the results I saw, save for the prolactin, looked like they were in normal range so I'm a little bit nervous that there's bad news but I think things should be okay. Frankly, I'm glad to have a meeting wth her so we can talk more about making a long term plan. I mentioned earlier that I'm starting to feel like I need to look at the longer term which may mean that doing IVF and getting some embryos frozen now might make more sense than continuing with IUIs and seeing what my body's doing come whatever age I am when we're ready to try for another (with slightly low AMH now at nearly 34, I worry about what my ovaries/eggs will be doing at 36). So I'm glad to have it and glad that they were able to get me in on Monday.

@kiki75 Haha I loved your post about idiot proof BC. I'm glad you are feeling better in general. I was really skeptical about acupuncture (and I even tried it once) but hearing how it may have changed your mood significantly and how it probably started a period for @adirat I feel like there may be something to it. I didn't really feel any different after the first one and sort of had a bad first experience with the consult (she made me cry) so it seemed like a waste of money at the time. I saw another place though recently so we'll see. Maybe I will give it another try. Anywho, can't wait to hear your update on Monday and good luck!!
@kiki75 Banking embryos was one of our main reasons for doing IVF rather than a third IUI. If the IUI had worked, then when we TFAS we'd probably have similar issues, but then I'd be 1.5-2 years older and we'd probably have to do IVF anyway, but this time with older eggs. I talked to people who wished they had banked embryos when they were younger rather than do an IUI and took their warning to heart, I guess. If it's financially feasible, it would be worth it. P.s. If we weren't insanely lucky to get the money for IVF, we wouldn't have done it, so I know money is a huge factor too.

I'm a huge fan of acupuncture...I originally started going to reduce the symptoms of nerve damage from shingles. Now I go to help me relax through this whole process. I used to spot for 3-4 days before every period and now I don't at all, I truly believe it has been the acupuncture that helped.

@saralee797 I recommend finding the right person. It's like any other doctor/therapist/etc. you might see -- you need to "click." The acupuncturist I see went through IF herself (including failed IUIs and IVF that ended in mc). She is so incredibly kind and sensitive about them, and she's extremely knowledgeable about acupuncture for period- and IF-related issues. It's worth considering, especially if your RE has a recommendation for an acupuncturist (many do).
@kiki75 I count you among the strong ladies who inspire me I'm so glad you are able to get in on Monday. I'm sure they'll be willing to meet with you without YH to talk about next steps and a longer-term plan. May I ask you what your AMH is?
@adirat Yea I just felt like she didn't get it. I told her why I was there - to relax and prepare my body before an IUI. First, she totally missed the mark saying how we would need several meetings/time to regulate my cycles with herbs and I was like uhh we're beyond that now. I'm committed to these medicated cycles. Then, she wanted me to devle into the emotional side saying I needed to confront it so of course I started crying. Meanwhile, I thought I had been in a pretty good head space going in. It wasn't a time for me to rehash my feelings on IF. Needless to say, we definitely didn't "click". I have some time before my FET so I might check out this new place I found.
@saralee797 Wow. As @businesswife said -- Yikes! That's really frustrating. I hope the other place will work for you. FWIW my acupuncturist has recommended herbs a few times, and I always decline, and she's OK with that.
Also the idea that IF ladies aren't "confronting the emotional side"??? Gag.
@kiki75 I'm not sure on the whole bedrooms situation as all 5 have closets. It does have a septic and well so maybe it has to do with that - you seem more knowledgeable haha. No news yet regarding our offer Our realtor said there are more showings today so I guess they're waiting.
I'm glad Acupuncture is working for you, I really value what it's done for me too and think it played a huge part in my getting pregnant with DS. I've gone back here and there this time around too but not as consistently. Whatever helps with mental health is worth it!
I'm sitting here getting a pedicure on my birthday DH made me eggs Benedict for breakfast. We hiked the Appalachian trail this morning and then going out to dinner tonight. Great day so far!
@saralee797-2 I second getting a recommendation from your RE. Chances are that they'll know people who are much more open & well-versed at working in conjunction with them. It's always good to have everyone working together as a team. You can also check aborm.org for acupuncturists that specialize in reproduction. Hopefully you'll have a much better experience. That one that you met with sounds like a real peach. This book is a good one about combining approaches for the best possible outcome. https://www.amazon.com/Planting-Seeds-Pregnancy-Improving-Fertility-ebook/dp/B00XPQ7RPM
@eggplantface It would/will be a bit sad to me if we go that route and have some to freeze that we'll likely be closing the door for good on trying naturally (since if we have any embabies in waiting, they would take priority) but there you go.
@adirat Thank you. Because there are days I don't feel so strong. My AMH isn't bad, it's just a little on the ow side for my age at 1.79.
@TravelingCouple HAAAAAAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sounds like an excellent day so far. FX that the house isn't what the other people are looking for and you're in! As long as the windows are all big enough (I believe the standard is that one opens wide enough for a fire fighter with full gear to get through it), my guess would be that the septic is only rated for four bedrooms which is probably fine. Ours is rated for three bedrooms but we have four and they could only list it as three. You might just have to pump it sooner than you would otherwise.

@kiki75 I'm so glad you're working on advocating for yourself. No practitioner knows your body the way you do, and sometimes they are wrong. Also, I don't think it's a coincidence that you feel better after acupuncture. I go once a week, and it's my favorite day. I call it my my re-centering. It's a lot of money, but really so worth it. I definitely agree that it takes the right person, and I hope you'll find someone who doesn't make you cry. I have a connection with my girl…I really love her.
AFM, **TW** Another BFN this morning **End TW**
But no spotting or signs of AF besides some cramps. I'm pretty darned sure that it's just the Progesterone is very much doing its job, which after all my short LPs is great in itself. So assuming no changes, I'm staying with my plan of taking it one more time tonight, 13DPO, and testing one more time tomorrow, just to be safe.
So BSC me will just be over here, looking through all the FF charts that have a negative before positive HPT, with the first positive on 14DPO. Yeah, who knew there was a new rabbit hole low?

It was an awesome day, I'm so exhausted haha. After the pedicure we went to a local arboretum which was gorgeous. It was such a beautiful day here too, 75 and sunny. Then we went out to dinner and sat outside with live music. Ending the night with Gillmore Girls binging. DH made me this beautiful necklace for my birthday too with a pic of us in Maui and he put black sand in it from Black Sand Beach in Maui, idk how he snuck that without me seeing it! It was a low key but fun day with my fam. Just in case you all wanted the play by play, haha! I'll post a pic of the necklace later, it's upstairs and I'm too sore from hiking to get it
In other news, the house got multiple offers so it's not looking good for us as we aren't willing to go for asking price. Very disappointed. It's ok though... It just means our house is still out there.
@Travelingcouple Happy birthday!! It sounds like you had an awesome day.
@laurad75 Sorry for the BFN. I'm glad that either way the progesterone seems to be doing its job but sorry all the symptoms are making you BSC. I'll still keep my fingers crossed since you're not out until you're out.
@kiki75 Props to you for getting yourself in on Monday. Give yourself a big pat on the back for pulling that off. I hope you are able to come up with a good plan with the RE. You make a good point about possibly going to IVF sooner if young know you May want to TFAS later.
Happy birthday @TravelingCouple! I hope you guys get a better house.
@saralee797-2 I'm about to start acupuncture too, and if mine pulled anything like that I'd be pissed and find a new one. Sorry you had to deal with that.
@Aurora1973 Sorry about your BFN. I feel you on the silly internet searches. I have "countdown to pregnancy 12 DPO" saved on my phone currently. DID YOU KNOW 16% of people who are KU get BFNs at 12 DPO! (Yeah, I bet you knew that too.)
@madspunk I'm guessing that was meant for me instead of @laurad75, but I'll take that slip as a huge compliment I remind myself that I'm not out, but it's hard to keep believing. Just trying to concentrate on the success of the Progesterone and so far tying my longest LP ever.
@vflux33 I did NOT know that. That's not a very high number, LOL…but glad to know it's still possible, haha! For the moment I am going to pretend you didn't just give me a new rabbit hole. FF charts are bad enough

Thank you for all the good wishes! So excited that DH count was AWESOME! 58mil after wash and 97% swimming. (This is much better than i had hoped given his SA, Though of his 3 numbers, esepecially with diabetes, morph is always the most concerning.) Everything was quick and painless but now that I'm home I'm honestly cramping quite a bit. Cue the BSC. I'm convinced the doctor missed. (It wasn't my doctor, it was a different one) so irrational. I know the catheter can just irritate the uterus and combined with extra follicle blah blah blah but Holy cow I'm not feeling great

@heatherdubrow yeah they said I will probably get it. I've stocked up on salty foods (do you guys have any idea how much sodium is in prosciutto??) and coconut water.
@antoto get some good protein powder, it really helps with all the extra fluid. And ask them to write for some zofran, I was crazy nauseous. Good luck lady!
Re: IF/Testing Weekly Check-in Thread 5/29
@heatherdubrow thats good to hear about the needles. A dull needle is just insult to injury. I am a little worried about the headaches since I did get those on Clomid, females and stims. No patches for me just oral estrace after I stop BCP. Although I still have patches from back when they thought I would use a lupron trigger. I plan to donate those at the end of this.

@WillRunForWine21 It's not at all unusual for Clomid to delay O.
@adirat YAAAAAYYYYYYY! Go ute housekeeping!
@zwink1

LOL. This tho I love bc it's hilarious and I love you. Totally sounds like something I would do and then when I realised, just say F-it let them think whatever the f they want to think. Who even cares?!??! Ughh. I am beyond caring at this point. Lol If someone asks about it specifically, I'd just tell them flat out, "yeah none of my clothes fit bc I'm fat due to all the meds I've been on andplus IF is depressing as fuck. :) "
(((hugs))) Solidarity. Maybe we can go pants-shopping together? ;) FWIW, I bought bigger pants for my new job and I am totally lookin Boss. Nobody else sees the tags :p

Also the idea that IF ladies aren't "confronting the emotional side"??? Gag.
I'm glad Acupuncture is working for you, I really value what it's done for me too and think it played a huge part in my getting pregnant with DS. I've gone back here and there this time around too but not as consistently. Whatever helps with mental health is worth it!
I'm sitting here getting a pedicure on my birthday

@WillRunForWine21 Thanks! Best of luck to you on your IUI!!!
@madspunk I'm guessing that was meant for me instead of @laurad75, but I'll take that slip as a huge compliment
@vflux33 I did NOT know that. That's not a very high number, LOL…but glad to know it's still possible, haha! For the moment I am going to pretend you didn't just give me a new rabbit hole. FF charts are bad enough
@TravelingCouple I'm sorry it doesn't look like you'll get the house, but I love your attitude about it. And I'm so glad you've enjoyed your birthday. The 30s are so great

@kiki75 thanks! That website is helpful and I'll probably download that book too. What's one more in my collection of IF books? Lol
@adirat yea exactly! I mean I'm not seeing a therapist or anything but I have definitely confronted the emotional aspect of this on a regular basis.
@kiki75 that is awesome that the acupuncturist felt like they could help with the elevated prolactin and that she has seen getting that in line is successful to getting KU! Hope is so critical to this IF process.
@BusinessWife and @laurad75 ugh the weight gain that has gone with this process! My clothes don't fit but I keep telling myself to wait to get a new wardrobe until getting KU, but running out of clothes to wear. Took my wedding ring in to get it resized yesterday and the jeweler asked if it had ever fit?! I almost snapped and said oh yes before almost a year of fertility treatments it fit like a glove! @BusinessWife love that you bought new pants, you might be my inspiration for a shopping spree next weekend!
@TravelingCouple Happy belated birthday! Sounds like it was a good one! Good luck with the house hunting, we are starting that process soon, so I am lurking and learning from you!
@WillRunForWine21 Good luck today! Sending all the vibes for good swimmers and healthy egg/s to find each other!
@Aurora1973 Sorry for your BFNs, progesterone makes me so BSC because of all the symptoms. Fx for you!
@ramzlau Thanks!! This was my first time with prescription oral Progesterone, and it was an experience!
AFM, AF did show late last night, so today is CD1. I'm definitely sad that we didn't get that Hail Mary in on our last natural try, but I'm very happy with the 13 day LP. I'm also pleased that we have our sperm army and OH started treatment day before yesterday, so hopefully he'll be back to himself soon. Thanks everyone for your kind words and support, as always
