Yes, my doctor initially prescribed Zofran, but my future SIL is a labor and delivery nurse and told me that the docs she works with will not prescribe Zofran in the first trimester. I had them switch me to Diclegis, but it doesn't work as well and makes me sleepy. My SIL suggested Reglan , Phenergan or vitamin B and a protonix. For now, I'm just going to see if I can get by with Diclegis. Good luck @rachswi!
@breezybee and @cait5413 Everything was fine! Just one baby and it was measuring right on track. Heartbeat was 161! I have my first OB appointment on Friday. They were supposed to do a bedside ultrasound then, but since I had one this last Friday i'm not sure if he will or not. It's going to be so hard to wait so long in between ultrasounds this pregnancy. Being high risk with the twins, i saw them every few weeks!
For those who aren't having luck with Zofran, ask your doc about Kytril. It is the same class (B) as Zofran but more effective. Not too many people are familiar with it, but I've been taking it this time and it works wonders. The dosing is a lot lower than Zofran - 1mg every 12 hours - but I've found it to work when Zofran did nothing. Also if you are unable to keep fluids down, you would probably benefit from IV hydration. My OB sends me twice a week to an infusion center which is also working wonders. I get two liters over two hours and feel amazing after! I'm 11+5 today and starting to wean off the Kytril and I'm only taking diclegis and pepcid to see how that works.
@tmk0325 my friend is pregnant with twins and said she's having scans every 2 weeks. I'm so jealous, kinda. It's so hard to wait. We get a 6 weeks and 20 week. I had an emergency one last week so I got an extra one.
@brittabatwhite I had the same thing happen to me just over 2 weeks ago. It was terrifying but just like you the Dr. saw the little bean in there and the heartbeat. On the ultrasound they were able to see that I had another bleed but said that it would either pass eventually, or just get absorbed. I had a bit of brown spotting last week but other than that no other 'episodes'. From what I've researched it's not normal, but also not uncommon for this to happen. So glad it was positive, but gosh what a scare!
I'm feeling significantly better today - hallelujah! So far I've kept down small meals at breakfast and lunch which is awesome since the last few days I struggled to even keep down toast.
I will definitely talk to my doctor about some of the alternatives you ladies mentioned! I thought Zofran and Diclegis were it so I'm glad to potentially have more options!
@brittabatwhite man. i was nearly in tears reading your post, what a relief that everything is ok. and i do find it hilarious RE: your DH accepting the safety award. he should deck it out in neon medical tape for the occasion.
@rachswi so glad to hear you are doing better. i swear there is no torture on earth like overwhelming nausea and vomiting.
