I'm sick, I've been sick for about 2 weeks. I went to the doctor a little over a week ago and he told me I have sinus infection to go home and rest. I'm back at the doctor another copay and probably 2 hour wait..if they tell me to go home and rest I might flip shit! I've been reading a lot on medication and risks and they need to do something I'm pretty sure I have bronchitis now and when this has happened before if they don't treat it with antibiotics and steroids then it turns into pneumonia. So worried I don't want to have to take anything but being this ill can not be good for baby either anyone have similar experience?
@kersey0208 def sounds like u need antibiotics. Don't be worried to take them, they can usually give you antibiotics that are safe to take when pregnant. I've been on them for ear infection this week. Like you said much better for baby to get you better than the risk if you having a high temp/fever with an infection. Hope they prescribe you something
I'm short of breath too @MJDsquared. It makes me feel so out of shape, but I have to remember is not my fault lol! Well, I've started having dizzy spells and vertigo, which my doctor told me would probably start happening. It's really fun. @kvacmak has yours gone away yet?
oh @jlemons-2 I'm sorry. That sucks. I know you were expecting it, but that doesn't make the news any less annoying.
@kersey0208 - while I don't have a sinus infection right now, I get them ALL THE TIME. Seriously, a couple times a year and anytime I get anywhere close to sick, it turns right into a sinus infection. I have terrible sinuses. Unfortunately, a lot of sinus infections are viral, and while it SUCKS to have the doctor tell you to go home and wait it out, the fact of the matter is no medicine is going to cure a viral sinus infection. You might be able to mask some of the symptoms, but that's all over the counter stuff (and I'm not sure if they are pregnancy safe...I just haven't looked yet). Now viral sinus infections can turn into bacterial ones - I've had that happen before. If its bacterial (or turns into the bacterial kind), then the meds should help kick it for you. Hopefully its not bronchitis, cause that would suck even more! Pending that the bacterial sinus infection stuff is pregnancy safe, hopefully that's what it is and they can give you something to help you feel better. Being pregnant makes you feel sucky on its own; being sick on top of that is really no fun.

@moonlady-2 with DD (my 1st pregnancy) I wore my regular jeans almost the entire time, some I could even button until nearly month 8. I haven't gained anything yet this time around, I'm just so nauseous that any clothing fitting somewhat snugly is a no-go. I also feel like I'm pretty bloated, but it could just be me feeling sensitive with being sick too.
@kersey0208 I had an upper respiratory infection a few weeks ago- it was horrible! It lingered for about two weeks. I didn't take antibiotics, but did take 2 Tylenol a day, chloraseptic throat spray, and saline spray. It eventually went away- I hope it does for you too! GL!
AFM- started getting headaches and heartburn today. (11w1d)
@breezybee I was actually thinking about that earlier! I was rolling around on the floor with DS and felt totally fine! I found ensuring I was getting enough salt and water helped! I still feel lightheaded when I need some water or food though, but that I can deal with and is more along normal for me.
@blueskies17 yes! The struggle is real! I often forget if I've locked the front door when I leave the house, halfway out of the driveway just to pull back in, get out of the car and go check. My kids think I'm crazy at times when I walk around the house looking like a lost puppy. Luckily it's been more routine things I'm forgetting and hasn't been a problem for work!
P.s. I think my fatigue is easing up (11wk+5)!! I got up at 6:20am for a conference call and I'm totally not a morning person. Feel like I can take on the world today. Knocking on wood it's not just a fluke and my energy is back to stay!
@kersey0208 I just got over a bad sinus infection- my doc put me on the Zpack which made me even more nauseous--but it did the trick. The only real danger to the baby when youre sick is a fever..... The zpack is safe to take when preggers
@breezybee with my twin pregnancy I was always dizzy, short of breath, etc. I even almost passed out multiple times. I found that not getting up quickly, drinking a lot of water, and eating something every 1.5 to do hours helped. My blood pressure was also extremely low and taking extra iron helped. I would get hot flashes and the ringing sensation in my ears and start seeing spots as soon as that happened I would strip down and sit down. Twice this was in an airport security line. It sucked! The dizziness eventually subsided but the shortness of breath got worse the farther I got along, because they were pushing up into my lungs!
So last week I had some pink spotting and yesterday I had a lot of brown spotting and I just felt a little weird below. It's probably nothing, but I emailed my doc and the nurse scheduled me for an ultrasound today. So we actually get to find out a week earlier if there is just one baby in there! Fingers crossed for one, healthy baby!
Also... my pants are getting tighter, but I can still wear them. I'm 10 w today. I'm thinking by 12 weeks I"ll have to get the leggings or dresses out and/or the hair band trick.
@tmk0325 Yes to all of that! Since finding out I was anemic; now on iron, my shortness of breath and dizziness have gone away. Also drinking a ton does help!
hey yall how are you coping with the fatigue? im finding myself taking multiple naps per day and not being very productive at all. I will not lie as I havent exercised since I had OHSS with my IVF cycle back in Jan/Feb. First it was due to the OHSS then it was because I was constantly either on a frozen cycle or TTW and didnt want to mess anything up since im PGAL.
now however I feel like I have a max of 2-3 productive hours a day.
@blueskies17 pregnancy brain is definitely real for me! @KathrynJ088 my fatigue had definitely let up in the last week or so! I'm 12w today and I feel amazing. I have been cleaning all morning and I'm not even tired! I even baked a cheesecake today!

@jackiesmom324 I work full time and have a 21 month old. I am sooooo jealous of your multiple naps. I honestly got to bed when DD does (7:30). I'm usually asleep by 8:00/8:30 and up by 5:30. It is soooooo hard to get up. I have been napping on the weekends and I never napped with her before. I look forward to nap time on the weekends. Mom a teacher and only have one week left, them I'll be napping daily.
@kersey0208 I was sick two weeks ago with a cold and while I was give a list of medications that were safe, I decided to just weight it out since I didn't want to potentially harm the baby during such critical growth period. If you can get away with home remedies, I'd take that route! Feel better!
@dkizz82 and @AMCsquared. yea it's hard.. I don't know how people do it.. Yea I'm working from home for a month but then I'm back to my 80 hour workweek.. I had to wake up at 530 on weds, a little my normal wake up time of 515ish and I was like

I've been having some spotting too, so I know the anxiety. Yay for early ultrasound though! Hope there is ONE beautiful baby in there!

TW....Quite a scare today. I was having a really stressful day because my DH spent most of it in the ER and I was at work with no way to get to him. He was helping a friend to get a really large broken couch out of a small apartment and they decided it would be best to just cut the couch up into 3 bits for easier carrying. He made it all the way through the parts of this process that required a power tool just fine only to slice 2 fingers clean trough to the bone he ended up being lucky and only needing a few stitches but it was a scary ordeal. He picked me up and I saw his fingers intact and felt much better but the minute we got home and I curled up on the couch a felt a giant gush of blood so we got right back in the car and went to the ER by the time we got there I was just leaving a trail of blood. I was 100% sure I knew exactly what they were going to tell me. They took my blood and vitals and I waited and waited and finely got an ultrasound. I couldn't look so I just watched DH's face and when it lit up with relief and he smiled I just cried and cried with happiness. Apparently I have a subchorionic hematoma which explains the bleeding. The doctor was so kind and positive. He did a pelvic just to be sure and everything looked just fine. A couple of days bed rest (and I already have a doctors appointment on Monday) and baby and I should be ok.
Has anyone else had this scare? Any advice or information?
@peachy13 I felt crampy this morning too. Almost like I needed poo, but I just did that. Haha. Anyway, I don't like it but I'm trying not to worry. My boobs aren't really sore either but again, just trying to stay positive.
I'm so glad someone also has mentioned feeling like they have to poo! Oh my goodness, all day today, that's how I felt but it's just a lot of gas. My Ob says that gas-x will be our BFF during pregnancy.
For those with morning sickness, or rather all day sickness, I feel you guys. Going to work miserable is the pits!
Since Thursday afternoon I've puked up about 90% of what I've eaten/drank. Nothing sounds good. Nothing tastes good. Nothing wants to stay down. I'm so miserable and my poor son doesn't understand why mommy can't play with him.
Thank you lovely ladies! I feel much better today. No new bleeding. DH just realized that on Wednesday he is supposed to accept an award on behalf of his company from the National Saftey Commity on Wednesday. He will accept this award with his hand completely bandaged which I find hilarious. He is the Maintenance and Safty Manager of a print shop.
Ugh sorry @rachswi I feel your pain. I think it was @kvacmak who gave me this advice but try to take small sips here and there of water and Gatorade. The baby will absorb some of that before it comes back up (hopefully doesn't). I hope it lets up soon. If not, def speak to your doctor as they may be able to give you something to help
@dkizz82@Marley629 I'm 9 weeks tomorrow so I'm almost certain it's MS, but this is worse than what I had with my son. I did have a night with him where I was violently ill and had to go to the ER for fluids. Thankfully this time it's taking the slow and steady pace so I've kept enough down here and there that I know baby is getting something. It's just so miserable since I can't hardly function since I've gone 3 days now on a diet of some toast (which isn't even always staying down). At least baby takes what it needs first.
ETA unfortunately my doctor's hands are tied because I'm not allowed to take Zofran due to a potential birth defect and diclegis doesn't work for me
@rachswi I was the same way last pregnancy with my DD. Zofran didn't even help. I'm not as bad this one. I'm on diclegis. It isn't really working anymore. Maybe it'll get better soon. It's so hard to function like that.
@rachswi have you asked about phenergan or reglan? The zofran birth defects scandal is still up for debate among some physicians as the original studies are not very high quality and have pretty weak associations. However I understand you and doc wanting to be better safe than sorry. I hope doc finds an alternative because it sounds like you're having a rough time
And hey no one told me diclegis would make me so tired lol.. I don't wanna be nauseous but I wish I had more functional time guhh
