Re: symptoms, questions and concerns week of 5/15

  • I think my uterus is stretching a good deal lately. I feel crampy but nothing has been painful or sharp.. it's just been a little more noticeable than normal. Yesterday I was a little worried because alongside the cramping, I had some brownish discharge when I wiped. The discharge (TMI warning) ranged from little light brown chunks to a bit of dark brown stringy stuff, and then two big mucus globs tinted light brown. Everything lasted for a few hours and then disappeared -- I haven't seen it since yesterday afternoon. Of course I visited Dr. Google (ugh) and from what I read there can be some blood from uterus stretching especially for FTMs, and the brown discharge was more than likely old blood. Hoping this is the case... anyone else dealing with this?

@peachy13 I felt crampy this morning too. Almost like I needed poo, but I just did that. Haha. Anyway, I don't like it but I'm trying not to worry. My boobs aren't really sore either but again, just trying to stay positive.

@peachy13 I've had some slight cramping (I don't know if I can call it that)--more like pinching, which started yesterday.  I'm 10w3d and I had an ultrasound at 9w6d so I am trying to remember that everything was perfect then.  I honestly think it's my uterus doing some more stretching to accommodate the twins.

  • @peachy13 I had the same thing over the weekend!  All day Saturday I felt that pinchy discomfort, but not painful.  I'm 10w5d today so maybe it's around the 10w mark your uterus starts getting bigger and expanding?  The feeling is disconcerting but comforting at the same time.  My SIL is PG too (26w) we are both FTM and she said she remembers that crampy feeling for most of the 1st trimester.

Last night was a doozy. Woke up in the middle of the night with terrible cramps, because apparently my digestive system just doesn't work anymore. After that, woke up blazing hot and threw all of my covers off, just to wake up later drenched in sweat and freezing. Then when DH's alarm went off, my legs were unbearably itchy (yes, this is a pregnancy thing for me) and I had to get up and scratch them with a hairbrush (Bc my stubby nails weren't cutting it.) I finally was comfortable and happy at 5:30...when I had to get up for the day.  :|

also, yesterday I got VERY dizzy, but I think I was dehydrated.
  • dkizz82dkizz82 member
@NME44 I was sooooo itchy last pregnancy. I had my doctor test me for colstasis (sp?). I didn't have it but I was convinced I did. I hated that symptom.

  • Oh man I can't wait till we all cross the 12 week finish line!!! Not that we will be finished but I'm hoping to be able to relax and REALLY enjoy this pregnancy!

AFM I'm at 11w1d today and I'm feeling pretty darn good. Yesterday was my first day off my progesterone suppositories so, so far so good. Yesterday I was having period like cramps and was tired but I was also up cooking since 530 am for a big family Mother's Day brunch I hosted. Boobs haven't been sore for a few weeks. Every once and a while pinchy feelings in my nipples and tender here and there but nothing consistent. as long as I keep snacking and hydrated my nausea has pretty much subsided except some towards later on in the day. I'm just grateful I never puked.

I definetly feel 6-8 1/2 weeks were the most uncomfortable for me with the exhaustion and nausea, but I'm hoping to be in the clear and to hear lil babes HB on Friday! It's been a long month! And I'll try not to drive you guys crazy till then!  <3

@peachy13 I'm loving that everyone's saying that cramping/fullness feeling is common right now! I'm at 10+4 and have been feeling more of that the last 3-4 days. More at night... I'm really hoping it's my uterus stretching and that means LO is growing and doing great in there :grimace: Because it's not just cramps, it's like a fullness and stretching and pressure feeling and totally different from pre-af.  I get some relief if I drink a lot of water, and then also immediately after emptying my bladder.   *TW *- I think I'm past the biggest my ute got with the last pg.

ETA - Just wanted to echo I think weeks 6-9 were toughest for me, and those were with mild symptoms.  Gah, I'm so ready to feel pregnant!

  • I called my ob office about this already, but I want to see if this is normal. My right breast only seems to be slightly discolored on part of it and the skin seems thicker. They said it should be normal, but I'm going to have them double check Thursday at my appt. Dr google convinced me I have a rare form of breast cancer  :s. I'm 11w3d and I know my breasts are changing, but this seems weird.

  • @dkizz82 ugh I've gotten cholestasis in both of my previous pregnancies and I am so hoping I don't get it this time. Unfortunately, if you have it in one pregnancy it's more likely with each new one. Each time I get an itch I get paranoid about it. It's horrible!
  • blb27blb27 member
@ktcakes87 I had something very similar happen during my first pregnancy. All ended up being normal--but it freaked me out too. Fx that it's just one of the weird things pregnancy does to us. Don't listen to dr. Google  ;)
  • @blb27 I'm glad to hear that! Was there a name for it? I REALLY need to stay off Google  :|

@ktcakes87 I don't remember there being a name. They kinda brushed it off like it was totally normal after they checked it out. They pretty much said it's just a part of your boobs growing and changing with pregnancy and blamed crazy hormone levels lol
  • NME44NME44 member
@dkizz82, I think I worried slightly about cholestasis the first time, but it's only my legs that itch and I'm pretty sure cholestasis starts later in pregnancy. (Not positive.) But anyway, this is my 3rd pregnancy to go this far and it's been the same in each one. Basically I'm just resigned to it (although it seems like things keep starting earlier and earlier....)
  • dkizz82dkizz82 member
@NME44 yuck! That's something I don't want to start back. Mine was later in pregnancy though.

@speach13 I just had a conference with one of my parents. She had her 1.5 week old in the room with her. She said she got colestatis and had to have him early. Weird we were just talking about this.

  • @ktcakes87 my boobs did all kinds of weird and scary stuff last time! I don't think you should be concerned since you are pregnant. And they can always take a quick look too. Don't google anything cancer related!
  • @jlemons-2 I wasn't purposely googling cancer! All the things I was googling came back as cancer  :(

  • I'm 10w4d. Definitely feeling pinching here and there.  Exhausted all of the time, especially after doing anything that's semi-physical.  :/  Once school is out, I definitely plan on taking regular walks, and getting back in cardio shape.  Just no energy and definitely no time right now.  I don't feel crazy nauseous like I was a couple weeks ago, but have been throwing up every other day or so.  Food aversions continue.  :|  Really hoping week 12 calms all this down!  ;)
  • @ktcakes87 I know, I was just trying to make light of a scary thing.
  • @peachy13 on Friday I have the worst sharp pains in my lower abdomen all day and night they would come for a minute or so then go away. Lasted all night and day. When I woke up Saturday they were gone and I just felt dull cramps. Im 11 weeks today. Im wondering if it's round ligament pain? Sounds similar to what you were experiencing. I didn't have any discharge, yet but I heard that can be normal as well. Hope things get better for you this week!

@ktcakes87 my last pregnancy I had this red blush mark on my boobs that spread over a few weeks and I freaked out because dr.google also convinced me it was a rare and deadly form of breast cancer. I ended up going in for an ultrasound and testing and it came back completely normal and by the middle of my second trimester it was gone. I have not had it happen again this time around but my doctor explained that your hormones do crazy things to your body and while it's definitely safe to get checked out stay away from dr.google because it can scare you silly.

Other than morning sickness from hell, I now how what feels like a pulled muscle every time I sneeze! Ouch!  I didn't have RLP with DS but from some of your previous* descriptions and conferring with dr Google, (I don't recommend this), it seems that's what it is

  • I'm 9w1d, have occasionally felt nauseous but just threw up today for the first time... on the train (thankfully I had a bag with me). Besides that my lower back has been in some pain and my bathroom schedule is no longer regular so I feel pretty crappy sometimes.
  • @ashtynmo oh no! I carry a water bottle and a little snack with me on the morning commute now just in case I feel queasy.

  • 11.5 weeks and still vomiting. I was hoping because I stopped the progesterone it would get better, but nope.

@jlemons-2 I hate the 3 hour! I failed hardcore with DS. This time I'm having it next week but she's starting with the 3 hour so I don't have to go twice .

@ktcakes87 I had these weird bumps and redness with DS on my right breast. I had a biopsy after I had DS and all was fine. The breast center said they see the weirdest things from hormones and pregnancy.

@Marley629 omg if I'm sitting in the car and sneeze it hurts so bad!  The first few times I was like, "it feels like I just popped my ovary!"  I think it's something about the way I'm positioned while sitting, so when I'm at home or work now I try to stand up to sneeze

I'm also not sure it's RLP, but it seems to happen then and when I twist too much so that's what I'm assuming for now.

  • @dkizz82 oh wow that is a coincidence! I had to be induced at 37 weeks with both of my kids. I want to experience going into labor on my own. I hate pitocin!
  • I've started the throwing up phase along with extreme nausea and stomach pain. I'm supposed to fly tomorrow...really looking forward to throwing up in the plane bathroom again!!  Really worried about how I'm going to handle regular workdays now. I've been on vacation so haven't been in the office, there's no way I'm going to survive. I have an open office so everyone I work with is within a few feet of me with zero privacy.

You are not alone nauseous ladies. I've lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks from throwing up :( hoping it isn't HG. This is brutal.
  • nz113nz113 member
I've been pretty absent from this board recently because HG has reared its ugly head. I am absolutely miserable every second of everyday
  • nz113nz113 member
@blb27 you are not alone! It sounds like HG though. I'm sorry you're going through it too

@nz113 I'm so sorry you're going through it too. It's brutal. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Well, maybe ;)
  • Update since this morning: around noon while at work I had sudden moderate to severe back pain with cramping/ tightening. Called my OB practically in tears bc my mind instantly jumped to worst case scenario. Got in the office about an hour later and had a quick scan. Babies are just fine (phew!) and she could see I was having contractions on the ultrasound. Did a quick cervix check and all was good there too. Basically got sent home diagnosed with Braxton Hicks and was told to rest, drink plenty of water and to relax.

So glad everything is fine! Has anyone else experienced this so early?
  • Halfway through 10 weeks and my nausea has improved but exhaustion is still rocking hard.  I'm having a hard time showering because I get dizzy with standing up and the warm water.  I've found sucking a peppermint while I'm showering helps but I'd love any other helpful hints.
