Hi everyone! I'm a 33 year old FTM and i got my BFP last Sunday.  My EDD is January 11th based on LMP but more likely January 14th by ovulation.  This is all really new to me, I've never been pregnant before but I'm super excited! Looking forward to chatting with everyone

  • Welcome to all the new moms!
  • I was on the Aug 14 board as well! I was mostly a lurker but I've actually made some friends that live in my state from that board. My son was born 2 weeks early so he's a July baby.

    Hello!

My name is Caitlin. I just got my bfp (x2) today. My due date is either 1/16 (based on LMP) or 1/17 ( based on when I'm nearly positive I O'd). I am a STM; my DD will be 3 in August. @missblaze and I are friends from having Aug14 babies together. Glad to be here with you all!
    Yay! So glad you're here!

  • @mamakassie2 thanks so much. Glad to know I'm not the only. I am nervous about the 2 under 2 I won't lie.

@ecolton01 I was not in June 16. I was actually a pretty good lurker/occasional poster in July 16. I was induced at 37 so I ended up with a June baby. I want to be a more active member of this community this time. Wow my DD  is only 2 days older than yours. Are you freaking out?!?
  • @kgtradd It's normal here as well -- the office I'm going to this time around doesn't see people until 8 weeks, and the one I went to for my son didn't start until 13 weeks.

It's such a long wait, but I assume it's because there's not much they can do until the baby is a bit bigger and easier to see/hear.
  • @burnsmommy27 a little bit :) lol I'm more worried about the pregnancy with a little one then actually having a baby with a little one since I was so sick with her ... hopefully this one is better

@remindmeofthebabe I have hashimotos also and have been trying to handle it since I was in middle school. *TW .. my sis also has the same disorder and she lost 6, before they figured it out . End TW.. as soon as I found out I was pregnant with both I got tested right away 3weeks ish , and I get tested once every 3 weeks for the entire 9 months it soooo important due to the correlation it has with loss if it's not spot on .. I am now on naturthyroid ... it's INCREADIBLE!! My levels have virtually stayed the same for over a year which is nuts . When I was pregnant with DD I noticed my thyroid levels dropped so I had to up my dose at 6 weeks and then again about at 3 months and 6 months so make sure you stay on top of it. Then it slowly went back to normal after she was born . I would not switch medicine right now though in fear that it would screw something up , but after baby is born I would look into it . Let me know what questions you may have of any because I have been around the horn 10 different times , my entire family on the female side struggles with it
  • Thanks @ecolton01! My endo has been on top of it, which is reassuring. I retested my TSH when I went for beta #1 and he upped my levo dosage slightly. He wants me to repeat the labs basically every 4 weeks all pregnancy.

When I was diagnosed, my TSH levels were and always had been normal - it was just the antibodies that were high. But my RE and endo recommended I go on levo anyway because some research indicates it reduces mc risk for people like me with high TPO levels but normal TSH.

I also read that eating a gluten free diet can reduce the antibodies and put the hashimotos in remission, so I've been doing that since I was diagnosed too.

  • Welcome to all the new ladies!!! Glad to have you all join us!! I'm a FTM mom and am especially glad to see other FTM's join so I have other people to freak out with, ha!
  • @mcrosie welcome! I read that article too and listened to the story about it on the radio... statistically speaking any of those situations are beyond unlikely, but I think it is a reminder that we know our bodies best and to speak up even if we are consumed with all those initial newborn snuggles!

Happy Mother's Day @WildMagelet and all the mommies!

@mcrosie, freakin out over here too! FTM and "older" so there are supposed risks and I don't know what to expect and that's tough just to wait.

  • Hi & congrats everyone! I am Shannon, I am a STM, my DD is just 15 months old and the light of my life. DD was born via an emergency c-section due to her heart rate crashing during my contractions.  After the c-section my hemoglobin levels were extremely low and I needed two units of blood. After that bit of drama we have not had any further issues and we are both thankfully happy and healthy.

I'm excited and nervous to add a second munchkin to our house. I got my BFP today (Mother's Day) and will be calling to arrange my first prenatal appointment sometime this week. My EDD is currently Jan 13, but I think based on my ovulation I will be a bit later than that. I'm looking forward to this journey and joining all of you on yours!

  • @mcrosie Best of luck finding a doctor who will take your care seriously and jives with your needs. :)

I don't know if that's normal, but it may be liability related? Which isn't a good reason for poor care, but the medical system is what it is.
