There was talk of starting a knitter/crocheter/sewers check in...so I am going to get it going. We will see how much interest there is and decide if we want to continue.

I noticed a similar check-in on another BMB that was closed because posters were using it as advertising.

Re: Knitting/Crocheting/Crafting Check-in
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? I bought the yarn to make a rainbow blanket for my rainbow baby! Haven't started it yet though.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? Currently working on an owl sleep sack for a friend that she requested. I also have a few hats to get done for another friend.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? A super soft, teal, hooded baby blanket. I made it for a future baby before I got pregnant.
Add pics of any projects you would like to share. No pics with me but this is the pattern I'm going to use for my rainbow blanket: https://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/cosy-stripe-blanket.html
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what?
I bought a ton of pink yarn but haven't starting anything yet.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)?
I finished a Malinese lace hat for my mom and am working on a stocking hat for my dad with matching yarn. I am using a beautiful gray Alpaca yarn. They are going to love them!! They usually go to Mexico for the winters but do to their health they sold their house there and will be staying here. This will be the first winter they have experience in 14 years. They really need these hats.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed?
My favorite project is a basic scarf. It is my favorite because it is the first project I ever actually finished.
Add pics of any projects you would like to share.
I will add pictures later. I am at work and do not have any picture with me.

Youtube is great to learn from! I learned to finger crochet and arm knit on youtube. I made my Mom and MIL really pretty infinity scarves using just my arms. There's some good how-to videos for crocheting, but for some reason I'm just not too good at it lol. I want to try to make something for the baby, but I don't know what.
@catherinekate I agree with @Diesel615 Youtube is amazing. I tried to take a class at a local yarn store and although they helped me learn to cast on and the basic knit stitch I was on my own for the rest. A friend recommended Youtube and it has been so helpful. I was so confused by the cast on method they taught us at the class but found a extremely simple way on Youtube, 5 years later and that is still the method I use. The other thing I would recommend is get chunky yarn and big needles, sit down and make a scarf. Just knit 20 stitches, turn it around and knit 20 more, just go back and forth until you have a scarf. This is how I finally learned. I kept trying to knit a square like they wanted me to and kept getting frustrated. One day I decided I need a project not a square and I've been knitting every since. Give a shot and if you get stuck or need some pointers message me.

17 weeks!
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what?
I'm not really starting anything until I find out the sex in 2 weeks but I have a Pinterest board filling up with project ideas and I'd like to start making one thing a week at least through April. I found a really cute maternity dress I want to make, I just need to pick out fabric and order it!
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)?
I'll go ahead and say the dress since it's probably the first think I'll make
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed?
I made a nursing dress for Easter last year. It was pretty adorable!

This is the dress I'm going to make

Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? Nothing for LO yet, I've been working on getting some Christmas projects finished up this past month
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? Just finished two cowls for Christmas. Need to make myself a floppy sock hat because I have a big head and all of the hats I have gotten from other people just end up slipping off
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? I made DH a light blanket back when he was still the boyfriend 3 years ago for Valentines day. He one-uped me though because the day I gave him that he gave me my engagement ring.
Married: 11/2013
M: 6/2016 E: 5/2018
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? I am doing samples of different patterns for a baby blanket and if I get adventurous matching hat and take home outfit.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? Within the above, I'm starting a vertical stripe blanket pattern tonight to compare to my square pattern. Both very easy (I'm a newb!) but very pretty.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? I've never completed anything! I used to knit with my grandma while she crocheted towel tops and other things but I'd just sit with her for hours making nothing. This is my first attempt at an actual item of use!
Add pics of any projects you would like to share. None yet!
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? Not yet, but I have started looking at fabric and once we decide on colors/theme for the nursery, I plan to make a quilt. I also have some patterns for cute crocheted stuffed animals, but I think they are above my skill level, so we'll see about that. I'm not much of a knitter or crocheter, but my grandma taught be both and i knitted a lot of Christmas presents in college, so I'm hoping to get back into these.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? I'm making a quilt for our guest room. Almost half way done! Then I can move on to baby things.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? The first scarf I knitted, because I actually finished something. Also a chevron quilt in my college colors that turned out really great and was my first large quilt.
Add pics of any projects you would like to share. This is the guest room quilt I'm working to finish. Hopefully soon!
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what?
Finished an antique white crocheted 6-12 mo beanie (Idk if it'll fit since it looks a little big, but hey--it'll fit at some point!).
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)?
Currently working on a crocheted grey and white baby blanket. Super simple, all double stitch.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed?
I made a friend a baby blanket last year for her LO--my first crochet project ever. Took forever, but I was happy to make something for a friend.
Also love my hat I just made because it's something I made to give to my baby, even if it's a touch wonky.
Add pics of any projects you would like to share.
Will add later!
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? No... I will probably start one once I learn the gender. Just one more week!
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? I am taking a bit of a hiatus... I know whatever I start right now won't be finished because I will want to start on something new within a week
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? I love the Array scarf from Shibui, but was BLOWN AWAY at how long this took to knit. It took about 26 hours to do 1 inch of width, and you are supposed to have a width of 10.5". Go ahead and do the math. I call it my million dollar scarf.
It was a free pattern: https://www.shibuiknits.com/Patterns/Detail.php?Pattern=+Array

Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? I have a few things started in teal and white. I've done as much of them as I can until we find out the sex and then I'll make the third color either purple or green.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? An adult sized blanket for me!
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? Probably the blanket I made for my niece, it was a super simple huge granny square but ended up looking really pretty. I'll probably make one for this baby too but I'll need more concrete colors first....
Add pics of any projects you would like to share.
The only thing I've completed so far is a car seat sized blanket in white with a teal border. Here it is:
@HBamama2B I love vertical stripe blankets! I would love to do a vertical stripe blanket in different shades of pink for this LO. You first completed project will be for your LO, how special will that be!
@MrsAllikat That quilt is amazing!
@NicknShan I looked at the Array pattern. I love how they started with talking about it being a simple pattern and then cast on 320...how about no! lol
@sgolberg247 I love your carseat blanket. What a great pattern.

@MrsAlliKat That quilt is gorgeous!!! I'm so envious of your quilting- homemade quilts are so beautiful and special!

Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what?
I made 2 rag-doll style stuffed animals so far. A blue plaid whale and Thor (cut out from an old comic book t-shirt). I say rag-doll because I make and stuff them with fabric scraps instead of fluff for instant toys made from what's on hand for free.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)?
Currently I'm drawing up sketches for the woodland creature paintings (3 small 4x4 paintings) I want to paint and hang in the nursery.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed?
I am a weirdo and use 100% homemade cloth menstrual pads. I made a huge set about 4 years ago using wild bright fabrics and haven't bought feminine products since then. Thinking of making some nursing pads and postpartum pads using similar patterns and fabric, but haven't decided yet if they'd be worth the time investment.
Add pics of any projects you would like to share.
I also don't have pics, but will take some of all new projects if this thread is going to be a regular thing! I want to make burp cloths too, possibly cloth diaper inserts/covers depending on my abilities, and currently trying to figure out a way to stretch my very limited knitting abilities into something that could be useful for baby/nursery (I can only knit simple scarves/rectangles).
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? Not yet but this thread is awesome and hopefully will keep me motivated! Excited to start a blanket, I really like this pattern and might want to add a hood: https://www.craftpassion.com/2010/11/crochet-basket-weave-afghan-baby-blanket-pattern-tutorial.html/2
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? Not crochet but I just made this for my husband... he's from SC and I'm from NY, and we are hanging some new art and making our apartment feel homey, so I surprised him with this last night to add to our wall :-)
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? I think my favorite is a chevron blanket I made a few years ago for my parents.

Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? No. Just finished a teddy bear hat for my niece. Forgot to take pics though.

Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? Nothing yet. I've pinned a few ideas for small hats.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? I'm working on a scarf for my niece. Finished the first one but need to finish the second one for my other niece.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? A baby blanket for my good friend. It was my first completed project.

I'm 18 weeks today
I haven't started anything for this LO yet. I have some projects saved but I'm waiting until our anatomy scan in 3 weeks.
Currently working on a crochet scarf for myself. Pic below. I'm about halfway done now (the pic was only about 10-12 rows in but you can see what the pattern looks like).
I also just bought fabric to make my own grocery bags. Just this past weekend I figured out how to use my antique sewing machine from the 50s that I bought at a garage sale for $10. Super stoked about that. I have a modern sewing machine but it's a very basic one (I can only do straight or zigzag stitch). The old machine has about 12 different stitches and 10 different presser feet. It's runs so much smoother and quieter. I absolutely love it and can't wait to start using it more.
I have to say my favorite thing I ever made was this crochet newborn hat that I made for DD. It wasn't perfect but I loved the fact that it fit her and she wore it on her first day of being born.

Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? Not yet, but I'm looking at quilts to make for baby #2.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? Nothing. (hangs head in shame) We just got home on Sunday from a two week trip to see family.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? I'm most proud of the wall decal I made for DD's room in our old house. $5 roll of ConTact paper and a bit of my time = way cheaper than buying one!
@MillerMama13 Piecing a quilt is actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I took my first class about a year ago, and have been able to make some neat quilts since then. I'm sure you can do it! Classes are very helpful if there are any around and you want to learn.
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? I haven't started anything yet, but I'd really like to make some burp cloths if nothing else.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? I've been working on a cross stitch afghan for my grandma for a while now. It's nowhere near done, partially because I usually have more than one project going at a time.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? I helped to make a really gorgeous headboard bench for my grandmother for Christmas that turned out really nice. I also made my mother a really pretty cross stitch of some roses and morning glories a few years ago that hangs in her living room.
Add pics of any projects you would like to share. This is the Afghan I've been working on but its nowhere near done.
I haven't started anything for baby yet. I would love to make a baptism gown but we are team green. Do boys still wear gowns for their baptisms?
I am going to start a temperature blanket as soon as my yarn gets here!
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? I started the blanket (pictured below) before we got pregnant. Some day I hope to do more than just blankets and hats. But right now that's as far as my skill set goes.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? See above...
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? I have this really soft but heavy blue stripe throw blanket I made in college. It's awesome.

On youtube if you create an account you can create 'playlists', like I have one that has all the stitches I've learned if I ever need a refresher. I basically have a tutor!
Have you started any projects for your LO? If so, what? I've made several burp cloths for friends as shower gifts that they've really loved, and as I was going I set aside one of each pattern for myself so I have about 5 for me. I also made a cute little ribbon stuffy dinosaur and a small crinkle sheet.
What project are you currently working on (If different from above)? I bought fabric to make a 2-sided hoody blanket out of flannel but haven't started putting it together yet.
GTKY...What is your favorite project you have completed? The little dinosaur is adorable, but the project we use most so far are the flannel pillowcases I made. So soft!
