Omg you guys. I feel so loved you all are the best. Anatomy scan was awesome! On our way there DS got car sick and threw up all over himself so we had to pull over and strip him naked and clean out the car seat and change him so we were about half an hour late. It ended up working out because the doctor was running late too! Anyway, we are having a baby girl doctor really kept me updated with everything she was looking at and Emma Raine is measuring right on track, about two days behind my actual number so that's not bad. The placenta is along the back wall of the uterus which doc says she likes to see for repeat c-sections. It's out of the way, if it were anterior that could cause complications with the c-section. Baby girl is breech currently but she's got PLENTY of time to move not that it even matters really because we're c-section anyway. She's very cozy with her legs right over her head and she likes to play with her toes. She's cute already. I see a lot of my nieces in her 4D ultrasound! Definitely looks like my kid lol. DH is thrilled and also terrified that we're having a girl lol
Just had my anatomy yesterday! Looks like I'm having a boy!! 22 weeks today! The technician noticed that one of my baby's kidneys is enlarged ( 6mm compared to the other at 4 mm) and I need to have a follow up ultrasound when I'm 32 weeks. Has anybody else been told this or know what exactly that means?

Wow sitb trying to fix my comment after I hit post instead of trying to put my cursor somewhere else..... anyways several people on here have had to go back for follow up for various reasons. Did your doc sound concerned or worried? If not I wouldn't be
Just finished (sort of...) the anatomy scan. I have to back to see pictures of baby's heart. But everything looks good so far, so I'm not worried--he just wouldn't get into the right position. Baby is measuring 12 oz and is a BOY! Like @Megane15, I am adjusting because I thought for sure he was a girl, but it's not a bad adjustment at all. We love him so much already!
Finally had our anatomy scan today! We are team girl, and everything looked good as far as I know! I'm thrilled that we will complete our family with both a girl and a boy. Now my husband will finally talk names with me.
I have to go back on Wednesday for a second look for my AS. I went a few weeks ago and they couldn't get everything they were looking for, so I have to go again this week. Kind of a PITA, but I am also excited to get another peek
Just got home from my a/s and Emma looks perfect, her growth is right on target! I'm still not yet gaining weight, so I have to focus on eating more. But I'm hoping that the good test results will lessen some of the stress I've been feeling lately.
Just had my ultrasound. They said baby looks good and has all of her parts. I have a low placenta so I will get another ultrasound at 32 weeks. I am so relieved lo looks good.
I had my a/s this morning. Freddie didn't want to cooperate, but they did get images of all his parts. He was laying on his spine and refused to move, so they didn't get great views of his spine and heart. They are doing a follow up in 4 weeks. He did make sure to show off that he is, in fact, a boy.
Had mine yesterday. It took everything to stay team green! However our baby looks great and they are thinking baby will be BIG and healthy. Great news!
Had our anatomy scan today with the MFM. Baby boy looks great and is very active. Estimated size is 12oz and on track for his due date. No placenta previa this time, which is amazing as the statistics were not great.
Agreed! I think it causes way too much stress on us, information overload, especially when they have to take a second ultrasound. Keep us happy unless they for sure something is wrong. I've been praying for the last week that my 2nd scan will come back normal, all I can do until then is just pray
Had my anatomy ultrasound today (I'm 23 weeks today). Dr said baby's femur measured slightly short and neck measured slightly thick which are possible markers for Down syndrome. We did have genetic (blood) testing done early on and everything came out normal. Dr said he wouldn't worry too much about the measurements since generic tests were normal but I can't help but worry that something is wrong. Anyone have experience with this? Part of me wonders if the doctors are "over testing." I get an ultrasound at every visit (all previous ones have been normal) and the doctor I saw today was a fetal specialist my OB recommends for anatomy scans. The specialist wants me to come back in 4 weeks in addition to seeing my regular OB. Obviously if they see something concerning I want to follow up on it but what's the point in my regular OB giving me an ultrasound if the specialist will give me a more detailed one?
If I can ask, how old are you? I'll be 35 just before the baby is born, so the MFM specialist is having me come in for a scan every 4 weeks. It's pretty standard for my age, from what I understand. As for your OB giving you an US at every visit - MFM machines are usually top notch, typically much better than what the OBs have in their offices. I would probably discontinue the ultrasounds for your normal OB visits, unless they have a solid reason for doing them in addition to the MFM scans. Those costs add up quickly.
Same here, I'll be 35 next month so I know I do fall into the higher risk range and an ultrasound every month makes sense but 2 ultrasounds a month seems excessive so just doing the MFM may be the way to go. Especially if the regular US won't pick up on abnormalities that the MFM finds. So do you only see the MFM and not a separate OB or do you see both and the MFM only does the US? Thanks for your feedback!!
I see both, but only MFM does a scan. I have only had two US with my normal OB - dating scan at almost 8 weeks, and a "freaking out" scan around 10 weeks with some bleeding.
I mean, it's nice to see baby frequently, but I think I would just tell the OB that I'm already having one every 4 weeks at MFM. My MFM is in the same network as my OB, so they have access to all the same information? They also may decide you don't need them to do it (the OB) since you're getting them from MFM.
Re: Anatomy Scans
