So many of you will be pulling out the pitchforks, but I eat my steak well done. With ketchup. And dipped in seasoning salt. FLAME AWAY but it's delicious!
I guess I'm the resident pothead, and I'm a-okay with that I've vaped a few times this pregnancy to deal with the morning sickness - it got to the point where DH and I were deciding between weed and pharmaceutical drugs and we both felt more comfortable with weed. I guess we're more hippy-ish than we thought. I understand why people are anti so bring on the judgments and happy 4/20 from Colorado!
I never really smoked pot, but the times I tried it when I was younger, I was so tired and hungry, and would feel depressed for days after. I know it doesn't do that to everyone, but it just isn't for me. When I first met DH, he smoked occasionally, and he could function and focus like I have never seen. It was pretty amazing actually. I have wondered if it had something to do with his ADHD, like maybe it slowed him down enough for him to be able to focus his energy on one task at a time.

@sjohns08 I mean, at least you don't have to worry about changing up your order while pregnant. haha. We're going to an amazing steakhouse on Saturday and I'm contemplating if I'm going to roll the dice and order it medium again or just order something different. The struggle is real. My first meal post-delivery might be a medium filet mignon.

I'm so ignorant to weed, never smoked it the smell is just so unappealing or done any other form of it. I had a few friends in college that did but that's it. That being said, someone tell me why 4/20 is weed day?
Also, give me all the wine! Because red wine is good for your heart!!
@natleilynn true, it is nice although I did consume a decent amount of brownie batter the other night, so I can't say I'm really one to change up my eating habits while pregnant
@natleilynn DH called me just now chowing down on some Arby's. I immediately thought of you and how everyone in my life seems to rub it in my face when I'm an hour away from one.
Sonic is the craving of the hour! I need all the chili cheese tots!
@sjohns08 that's the only way I'm ok with red meat. I joke that I want beef jerky when people ask me how I want it cooked.
DH likes to make various red meats cooked medium rare and I discreetly gag my way through eating it sometimes because marriage. He knows I'm not a fan but keeps hoping to convert me. I love being pregnant because he doesn't even try!
I really feel like I should try to eat healthy. But I went to the dr Monday and I've lost weight since getting pregnant. So until I gain a little in going to indulge, like right now. Arby's with allllll the Arby's sauce
@TallMomma29 i had such high hopes (see what i did there. high. 4/20. you are tall. double whammy) for our blossoming friendship. and then you go and hate on steak.
@carries2018 I'm about to admit a shameful thing. I didn't know who Aaron Hernandez was. DH was telling me about it yesterday as if this was breaking news (which I guess it was, haha) and I just looked at him. "And who is Aaron Hernandez?" He just looked at me. And I was LOL'ing at you saying you were an expert because of HTGAWM Sounds like me. Convinced I could waltz up in a courtroom and win any case thrown at me. Long as I could have Frank as my runner. That or get away with it myself from watching Snapped, Investigation Discovery, etc. I'm great at making myself seem completely normal around here!

oh brought to you by randoms. I am all for feminism and being an independent woman and all that. but there are some stereotypical "male roles" that i am just fine knowing nothing about them. i.e. changing tires/anything related to cars, mowing the lawn/snowblowing, "handy" stuff.
@carries2018 same here. I don't even mow the grass or shovel snow. I'll put together furniture and such things, build stuff, etc. But I have zero desire to learn plumbing, fix a toilet, change the oil in my car (I actually have a vague idea since my dad did teach me when I was 16) or clean the gutters
@carries2018 feminism... I shouldn't even say anything. I'm all for women being able to do what they want. Work, vote, whatever. But I feel like the world was a happier place when women stayed home more because people weren't so busy and stressed. And that's all I'll say.. -backs out very slowly- -never returns-
@carries2018 and @sjohns08 Same. I consider myself to be a strong independent woman, and can definitely take care of myself. I can put together furniture, fix minor house repairs, etc. But I have never mowed a lawn or changed the oil in my car, and have no desire to learn either.
@dumbledoredies I think the problem isn't women not staying home more but that they can't AFFORD to stay home when sometimes they want to. Plenty of women enjoy working outside the home and are probably less stressed doing so.
Feminism means everyone should be able to make their own choices and have the same chances for success. If someone wants to stay home with their kids, great! Unfortunately even if I wanted to now, I couldn't afford to. The world has changed and it's impossible for most families to live off of one income.

"All for women being able to do what they want" well that's what feminism is:)

totes. we can vote...what more do these women want?!
but for real. i think i am understanding you saying that we live in a time where most households have to have both parents work in order to make ends meet when there was a time when cost of living didnt skyrocket and families could swing keeping one parent home (husband or wife)?
@dumbledoredies I think *some* of the world was happier when women stayed home, but I think there were a ton of women who married men they weren't actually super into because being single and supporting themselves wasn't really an option, and I think there were also a ton of women who didn't want to be stay at home wives/mothers but were forced into that role because of the lack of opportunities for them outside the home. I'd love to stay home and not work a "real" job anymore - and hopefully we're able to make that happen eventually - but I'm absolutely grateful that feminism has caused that choice to be an option rather than a mandate.
@jessafishy agree 100%. I guess times were much more simple "back in the day" and there are so many factors to consider now. The cost of living is so high. But I also think that now there is this mentality that you are supposed to work your life away and I'm just not on board with that.
I think the world was a "happier" place back when women didn't work and stayed at home because many of those women had no safety net, no option of one, no financial support if they wanted to leave (plus lots of judgement), so they grinned and pretended.
That said, I do think lots of women are happier and less stressed when they are at home, and that's fantastic and they should be able to.
Yeah. I hate working so I just don't get it. I would much rather be at home taking care of the house and my family. I feel like that right there is a UO lol.
Trying to remember what to reply to off the top of my head!
I love a good crockpot meal. Mississippi Roast is my all time favorite!
The only reason I didn't decide to have an elective ultrasound, was because I didn't want to waste the money and have them be wrong. It's so tempting, but I would have definitely waited until 16 or 17 weeks, and by that time I may as well wait until my AS. I'm definitely going to see if they will do my AS at 18 or 19 weeks though lol.
I've never tried pot. Maybe I've been sheltered, because I've never had the opportunity to haha. I don't like not feeling completely myself though. I like a glass of wine , but don't like to feel drunk. I don't even like the way cold medicine makes me feel lol. I took some NyQuil a few weeks before my BFP and I couldn't make myself quit going to sleep for a whole day (after I'd slept all night). Thankfully it was the weekend and DH was here to entertain DD. I guess I'm sensitive to things. I have a feeling me and pot would not be friends haha.
Steak is my favorite! I think this is the third time I've said this in a thread haha.
My UO -- I don't get the Unicorn Frappucinno hype. If I'm going to Starbucks, give me some coffee! Though, since moving to New England I've joined team Dunkin for my iced coffee!
@dumbledoredies I get it. I don't think I would want to stay home full time but I would love to go to part time. I feel like things regularly fall through the cracks at home and I always feel behind on things like laundry and organizing.

funny story that isnt an UO but i am already in here. prob is a fffc.
i was vacationing in PCB with H before kids. and it was the off season so we went to a bar and started talking to the bartender. the following conversation transpired. all of which was totally serious. i like couldnt stop these words from coming out of my mouth.
bartender: yea, it is getting bad here...the drug problem is really getting out of hand. me: oh really? pot? bartender: no. crystal meth. me: oh...i watch breaking bad, so i know. a lot of cookers in RVs?
Ooo I have a good UO now. @dumbledoredies this isn't what you meant I know but your post just reminded me of it, I'm not talking about you in any way, shape or form. I heart you.
I hate when older people say variations of, "things were so much better back in the day. We didn't worry about (insert issue here)."
Yes, things were great back then....if you were a white male. If you're anything else, well things are kind of a lot better now in a lot of ways

Somewhat on this topic, I got into an argument with d-bag BIL in which he tried to assert that white men haven't "always had it easy in this country". Actually yes, yes they have. Comparatively speaking they've had it super great on top of the hierarchy.

I don't like dogs. I'm such a cat lady. Dogs smell and they are a lot of work and they always want to smell my crotch when I walk in the door. They need way too much attention. There are a few dogs that I like (my friend recently got a dog and he is so sweet and funny) and I had a dog growing up that was absolutely amazing. But just give me all the cats. All of them.
