I had problems falling asleep last night, so I slept in a little bit this morning. Hunger woke me up before my alarm did. This constant hunger is fine, better than the nausea or heartburn anyway, but when it starts interfering with sleep- my most favorite thing ever- it's not cool anymore!
@iheartichi Fortunately, the lab I go to only schedules those tests first thing in the morning. I can't imagine doing it another time. Regardless, I'm not going to lie. The idea of going that long without food is definitely making me cry already. I'm always hungry. I'm going to get so cranky that day.
@bridge-and-wall that's good it's first thing. And unfortunately that drink tastes worse on an empty stomach. But, you should treat yourself to your favorite thing afterwards and just think about that while you're there! You will have deserved it!
@mrs_tacos +1 on hunger jacking up sleep. dh came home at 230a from work and dog woke me up i could not go back to sleep due to hunger. I ate a poptart in bed and it took the edge off, but i woke up this morning starving.
Since I've been pregnant sweets make me slightly nauseated. I did a stupid thing and googled, now I'm freaking out that I'll have GD. My sugar was great at 14 weeks when they checked it at my physical for work, but I know it can change.
@HollyGolightly09 I have been quietly freaking out about GD as well. Sweets also make me ill ( but I have HG so a lot of things do that) but I started to really get worried when I got the " unquenchable thirst" symptom. My husband is a Type 1 diabetic so periodically Ive been using his glucometer to check my sugar levels and every time they are exactly where they are supposed to be but getting that inner voice to shut the hell up is next to impossible.

I had not been worried about GD until now. I have been dying of thirst almost since the moment I got pregnant. I already passed a one hour glucose test, but the margin was slim. My inner hypochondriac has been awakened.
@mrs_tacos I second that! I was like wait I've had a huge aversion to sweets lately and they leave a horrible taste in my mouth. And I just told DH that I've been so thirsty lately! Hypochondria or GB signs?
@mrs_tacos@Souptin@LosAngelesMama I keep telling myself that GD is not the end of the world, and that it can be easily managed. I KNOW that. But the hypochondria laden, white coat syndrome, generalized anxiety part of me is kind of freaking...
If you look hard enough, you can find where the post was removed. Can't remember what it used to say, though. I don't remember her saying anything bad, but whatever.
Not all the time, but on my worst days, this is me:
Yes.... I am the same way. Not all the time, but it does happen. My big thing is a heart attack... any pain remotely near my chest is a heart attack. It's always amusing to people who haven't had to actually deal with me during those times. My parents, on the other hand, don't really see the humor... they had to block the CDC website and WebMD on all our computers. They also had to take me to the ER once because an infected injection site from a steroid shot and swollen lymph nodes coincidentally happened at the same time and I could not be convinced it was anything other than leukemia.
@HollyGolightly09 my mom and grandmother are legit hypochondriacs/ exaggerators of symptoms. I fight the urge to self diagnose but growing up around them makes it a battle to not be an alarmist over errytang!
@HollyGolightly09 You are not alone! In high school I had a skin biopsy because I was convinced I had melanoma. It was an acne scar. I have fibromyalgia, and I have worried for years that some day one of my aches or pains will be something really serious that the doctors will miss because they're write it off as my normal stuff. Then, two years ago, my aunt died of liver cancer that they originally missed because it was written off as worsening fibromyalgia pain. There were other factors too- her husband was very neglectful and they lived in a small town with limited resources- but it did not help my fears! DH is a saint, because he talks me down from every ledge I talk myself onto. And, thankfully, it usually only gets bad when my anxiety is already high anyway. (God bless my therapist!)
TW Ok I am going to put this in a spoiler in case people don't want bummed out.
DS's cousin (from his bio-mom's side) was in a 4 wheeler accident yesterday afternoon. He had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital. He has facial fractures, a skull fracture, a brain bleed and had to have surgery on abdominal injuries. e's been breathing on his own, but has been non-responsive since the accident. He is only 12/13 years old. He was of course not wearing a helmet. I am so sad for him and his parents. Please if you ever get your kids 4 wheelers, pleas make sure they wear helmets and not just a bike helmet, but a DOT rated helmet.
@DPandMB Spoiler box because it relates to the above spoiler box.
My paralegal's husband was in a bad 4 wheeler accident several months ago. Sounds like similar injuries. No helmet. I don't recall when he came to, but it did take a while (probably a few days). He still has a lot of issues with his memory and seems to have permanently lost his filter, but he's doing okay. Back at work and everything. I'm hoping for the best possible result for this young boy. Those things are so much more dangerous than people realize.
@DPandMB How sad! No matter what the cause, it's always awful to see a child in a situation like that. I'm always amazed how many people don't take helmets seriously. We have no natural cushioning in our skulls, and brain injuries are no joke! I really hope this kid recovers with minimal damage done! He and his family will be in my prayers.
Heads up to anyone who likes Dunkin. Not sure if this is local or national, but Dunkin has free medium iced coffees on every Friday, from now til May 26. Got one this morning, and now my little peep is kicking up a storm!
