@jena333-2 Your post actually made me laugh out loud. DH suggested Butch and Ethel (SUPPOSEDLY he was joking but he definitely seemed serious to me at the time). And since then he's stopped offering up suggestions of his own. He has plenty of opinions on the names I like of course. Like Claire, which according to him is "old fashioned."
Me & DH: 31 | Married: 5.4.13 | TTC: April 2016 | BFP: 1.8.17 | EDD: 9.13.17
@Swazzle My DH vetoed Claire because it sounds like eclair, and always reminds him of donuts. In his words, "I can't afford to get hungry every time I say my daughter's name!"
So yesterday was a complete whirlwind. We had the anatomy scan at 10 & by the end I was balling my eyes out because of the DNA/anatomical mismatch. Spent the 5 hours between scan and appointment researching like crazy why it was that way and what it means. Nothing good was coming up. Met with the OB at 3:30 who informed us the idiots in the lab had run the wrong DNA test and ended up testing my DNA and not the baby's. Did a redraw of labs yesterday after the appointment, but expecting that it will all come back good since baby looked great in the scan. Scariest and most stressful 5 hours of our lives. Thanks ladies for all your kind words, positive thoughts, & prayers.
@jutondreau Ugh, I'm so sorry you had to go through all that unnecessarily. But I'm so, so glad that baby is most likely fine! Congratulations on your boy!
@mrs_tacos And now I'll forever think of eclair when I hear the name Claire too
@jutondreau ONG how stupid of them! I'm so glad it was human error and not something actually wrong though. I can't even imagine what you guys must have been feeling over those 5 hours.
Me & DH: 31 | Married: 5.4.13 | TTC: April 2016 | BFP: 1.8.17 | EDD: 9.13.17
@jutondreau I'm so glad it ended up just being human error! I'm sorry you had to go through that stress and now have a wait a little longer to know that everything is ok with your son.
So I accidentally posted in the symptoms thread about my A/S before I got to actually see my OB... so it turns out the cord is attached to the edge of my placenta making it more fragile. The doctor isn't super concerned. She's restricting my activities- no exercising or strenuous activities, and I'll have an ultrasound at each appointment from here on out to make sure the cord doesn't get damaged. Bonus: my placenta is anterior, so I have to be extra careful with my kids in my lap, too. Lame, but baby boy is healthy, active, and measuring 6 days ahead!

@awildrose That sucks, but I'm glad the doctor isn't super concerned. FX everything stays healthy! And at least you'll get to see your little guy a whole lot more!
@awildrose yuck! I'm sorry you're on restrictions, but happy the little guy looks good. Glad your OB is being extra cautious and doing more scans.
@mrs_tacos@Becky012016 & @Swazzle yes! Very scary, but we're so thankful he looks good in the scan so far. I actually plan to meet with the Quality manager this week to discuss how this can be avoided in the future. The OB blames it on the techs in the lab who are 'new' (hello, give them the necessary training) and the fact that a regular DNA test and a fetal DNA test are labeled similarly in the orders (DNA chromosome anal vs DNA chromosome analysis)...as with any type of near miss or error, there are many places in the process where the error could've been fixed or avoided. I'm expecting our DNA testing to come back a-ok. Now to get used to calling this little guy Cannon instead of Nora...
@jutondreau UGH! How annoying!!! But it does make a lot more sense that they made the gender error if they were basing it off of your DNA and not baby's. I'm sure that doesn't make it any less frustrating though.
@jutrondeau Omgsh.. wow.. I'm so glad they found an explanation but wow such a shock still. I'm glad you will be meeting with the quality manager about this. All the hugs and maybe the name can be Cory instead of Cora? I'm sorry you both have to go through such an adjustment.

Is anyone watching Dancing with the Stars? Nancy Kerrigan's story just made me ball my eyes out. *TW* She had 6 miscarriages in 8 years. And yet she is so strong and courageous to keep working for her dream.
@jutondreau wow, I'm glad there was actually an explanation for what happened.. but they should be more careful!! That's not the kind of stress you should have to deal with. And quite an adjustment!! But congratulations on your sweet, healthy boy! I'm glad everything turned out ok!!
@jutondreau I'm so glad to hear it was just a stupid error. How annoying and relieving.
@awildrose that sounds annoying and stressful but at least you get to see your sweet baby each appointment.
The shooting made me super sad too. I asked DH if we have to keep sending the kids to school. It's terrifying.
My random is how many here have Gestational diabetes? I was thinking of maybe starting a thread to chat/support, but wasn't really sure how useful it would be. I think I'm still pretty obsessed since it's still a recent diagnosis for me.
Did y'all see what happened on the United flight were the man was literally dragged off the flight because they overbooked/needed room for a flight crew? Wow, just wow.
Just logged onto TB from the computer (avoiding lesson plan writing) and y'all's siggys are straight terrifying.
There should be a warning banner or something.

@HollyGolightly09 My OB's calmness is what has kept me from freaking out. Apparently, the placenta can still grow out around and past where the cord is, which would be ideal. She just wants to keep monitoring it. It's functioning perfectly, at least!

@DPandMB Since gestational diabetes makes you high-risk, most all of our gestationals here participate on the High-risk thread. That way I can talk to other people about blood sugar issues and not be by myself because I'm not gestational.

@jutondreau I'm glad it was just an error, but that also makes the situation extra annoying to deal with.
@Msashley2010@mrs_tacos I'm still struggling with who I want to be there when I deliver. This is the first grandchild for both of our parents. I'm close with my mom and she's in the medical field, so part of me thinks that would be nice, since she's knows more of what to expect. But I also don't want her to overstep and drive me nuts. MIL will be too nervous/emotional through the whole thing, and I think it'll make me uncomfortable. I'm not willing to start drama over it if they both want to be there, but I also think it'd be nice to just have my DH for things to be more calm and intimate.
Can I just say that I LOVE all the posts about feeling your LOs move around!! It really is incredible what we're all doing/creating and now is like when it really becomes real, at least for me.
Our A/S is coming up on Friday, so I've been watching YouTube videos on week 18 US. And tearing up listening to complete strangers get so excited to see their LOs. I'm going to be a blubbering mess during ours. The little feet! The little fingers!
I felt Baby move yesterday! I thought I felt him/her a couple times during the day but then I felt the exact same type of "pop" a few more times and then kind of a lot when I was just laying on the couch in silence after I got home from work. It is SO WEIRD to think there's a leg or arm or something tapping me from the inside lol
Me & DH: 31 | Married: 5.4.13 | TTC: April 2016 | BFP: 1.8.17 | EDD: 9.13.17
hi hi hi hi hi hi. So I apparently am 1 of those people who when I am not at work I have a life? When did this happen? Oh yeah, my husband is home. It's so strange, we usually are home bodies and now that we're gonna have a baby it's like go go go go go.
Either way, I'm back to work, which means, I'm in front of a computer pretending to work and catching up on what I've missed.
So my cousin and her friend skipped school today. Like idiots they go back to my aunts house. Guess who came home early today? My aunt! And guess who got in huge trouble? My cousin. Kids these days!

Of course! Doesn't that always happen? I always told my parents when I was skipping school. That probably makes me a loser, lol.

@labby18 I loved The Crown! I thought Megan Foy and Matt Smith were both brilliant, and John Lithgow as Winston Churchill was a thing I didn't know I needed in my life until I had it.
@labby18 The Crown is so good! Also did anyone else watch Big little Lies (or little big lies lol, can't keep it straight) It was so good! I love that author but hadn't read the book yet.
So I had my anatomy scan on Friday! I was a little upset that my ultrasound tech wouldn't tell me anything at all. She said we would have to wait for the radiologist to review and they would call me sometime this week if anything is wrong. Of course I was on pins and needles and ended up calling today but they were at lunch and I finally got a call back saying that baby boy is perfectly healthy and normal and measuring right on schedule! Yay!!!!
