@haha I love when that happens! We also cheer for different pro teams but luckily they're not in the same league. Tailgating can not get here soon enough. Pregnant and eating all the food at the tailgate, yes pleaseee!
@flyingfall@natleilynn I've actually never been to Boone as I don't live in NC, But I've heard it's beautiful. And running camp doesn't sound nerdy....it sounds exhausting! I've never been much of a runner, but I wish I was one! It's just not in my blood.
@acnd08 Same Technically I was born in TN, since that was the nearest hospital to our hometown. But I was raised in VA and then moved to NC for college/after college.

This. I always wonder "what if I had signed up for track and field when I was in middle school?" Would I have "learned" to run? I ran (barely jogged, really) a 5K in my mid-20s and did terribly. I almost stopped, but the girl behind me, who I didn't know was there and had never met before, yelled that I had to finish because I was setting the pace for her and if I stopped, she would. I'm glad that she was there or it would have gotten even more embarrassing. Unfortunately, the race stats were posted online and for a while, if you googled my name, that was one of the top results.

@curlyq423 I was going to post a picture, but nothing does it justice. It's just an awesome town too. Very much stuck in the 70s, hippie-esque, folk music, and everyone is beyond nice.
@curlyq423@aprilsarahjune it was my life for about 8 years. I only got into it because of a memorial race for a family friend who was killed and ended up winning my age group in middle school. I've said before I grew up in a poor, rural area and when I realized I was actually decent at it, it became my ticket to college and out of the area I grew up in (where very few leave or ever go to college).
And as soon as I left college, I pretty much quit. haha. My body just needed a break and I haven't found a good balance of learning to run for fun instead of "running to be the best".
These days, I enjoy nice peaceful walks and staring into oblivion while trying not to trip over cracks in the sidewalk.

I feel like this might get me kicked off the board, and I'm pretty sure it's a geographical thing buuuut....
I really don't get the appeal of college sport. I went to the occasional hockey or football game in university, but there might have been a couple hundred people there. Tens of thousands? No. And, if I'm in town, I might go to a game now. Maybe. If there isn't anything else going on, but I'm not making any special trips for it.
@PizzaMonster3. When I moved from Louisiana to Virginia, one of our neighbors said "welcome to the south!" I Remember laughing out loud and my mom elbowing me. They are different kinds of south.
@JessDG I interned in Indiana after sophomore year and encountered a West Virginian and Tennessean who kept trying to lump me into their "South" discussions vs the Detroit guys and I was like - nah. Y'all both buy snow ties sooooo you're both northerners to me.
Hmm what if I come up with my UO on the Saturday after the thread starts?? I'm still learning how to be a part of a community like this so it might be against the rules??? But listen. It just dawned on me how much I hate this and I might not remember on Thursday, so here goes. I hate the Easter Bunny. He's a creep and kids dont like him and I dont think they want to sit on his lap and pictures of terrified/ distraught children sitting with a creepy ass bunny are not cute! There I said it.

my big UO : there should be two "South"
colonial south and real south. I don't understand how Louisiana/Tx are grouped with Virginia/NC.
Then again I'm from Texas and nothing else matters except how WE do things... so there's that lololololol
edit because my app sucks and won't let me quote.
