You ladies make a good point, a daily would probably spill over. That might make it even tougher to catch up. I think the best solution is just to not be afraid to post if it's something many can weigh in on.

We also have a labor thread plus all of our daily threads like UO and FFFC. If we use those for some things that might go in random, that could help too.

If it becomes something much larger or that everyone agrees it deserves its own thread, then we can certainly do that. I know that happened when I asked about circumcision awhile back and it was suggested that I make a separate thread for it. I don't think it is bad to start it off here because well its a question and its probably random haha doesn't mean it can't become its own monster thread! :)

  • I can't remember hearing this mentioned yet as a symptom, so I figured I'd ask. Anyone's sternum sore? Mine has been for a few weeks now. If I cough or sneeze, I get a sharper pain, and then there's just a dull soreness otherwise. It's just right in the middle, not to the sides where my ribs are. I assume this is just pressure pushing up on my sternum now?
  • @starphish18 your ribcage will actually expand, and being that your sternum is bone with cartilage connecting your ribs, it will be expanding at the cartilage putting pressure on your sternum, which is why it hurts there. It's normal, it sucks, but it's normal

  • Not sure how much this would solve or take away from the long randoms thread, but maybe we could revive the weekly symptoms thread from long ago? Just a thought!

We had a weekly symptoms thread? I don't remember it, but we very well could have! I know its in the ticker change...

On a more positive note, I had an appt today where my OB checked the baby's positioning with US. Until now, I didn't know any weight guestimates... was just always told he's right on track. Since this was my last US, she did the measurements and LO is "average sized" at ~5lb 5oz. She said if I don't gain a whole lot of weight these next few weeks, he should be around the same size as my first (7lb 8 oz) at birth. Oh, he's also head down (woohoo).

Oh, that reminded me of you @kayemjay2! Glad yours is also head down and a VBAC may be in your near future! :D
Thanks for the well wishes, but I think I was accidentally tagged and you meant someone else? I have no idea what this little guy's position is, and no VBACs for me!

I thought we did, but maybe I'm mis-remembering! (Or it's a memory from lurking another BMB, haha.) If so, it was early on. I haven't had time to read through all the randoms pages over the past couple of weeks since I've been traveling, so I'm not sure how many posts are related to symptoms...
  • @l1c4gal my memory is shot for the most part haha I think some symptoms are asked about in randoms every now and then. I know I've asked in the past. It may warrant its own thread and then again it may not occur often enough!

  • @mrsrep123 and @kayemjay I think it's @KMD1106 attempting the VBAC now that baby flipped?

@mrsrep123 I'm glad you have someone trying to get things worked out, but it's still a really terrible situation. I think the person who "correctly" got offered the position so be the one it's rescinded on-- not the first person offered (you), qualified and pregnant. It's just mean.

Enough people have weighed in, but I'll go ahead anyway. I think a daily randoms is too much clutter. I like the idea of posting more individual threads as people see fit, maybe bringing back the symptoms thread, but also just reading what posts you can. On days I work, I might not be able to log on at all, let alone keep up with the randoms thread.
  • @starphish18 I had a sore sternum when baby girl was breech and she had her head and appendages all up in there.  It was a horrible feeling and she popped a rib out at one point.  I hope it feels better soon!

    May 2014:  DS2 born 40w3d, 10 lb, 23"

    Due May 2017 with DD1!
  • @starphish18 I don't have a constant soreness there, but she was kicking or punching my sternum last night and I thought I was going to keel over!
  • Question: Any good suggestions for where to get a maternity swimsuit? I've tried two from Amazon and had to return them because they do not fit the bump. WalMart has nothing, Target has terrible designs in my opinion, and everywhere else is too expensive. I'll probably wear it once in April, so I don't want to spend a lot. I'm about to go hunt on craigslist. :/
  • @jayandaplus. I got one from Macy's.

@jayandaplus thanks for remembering it is @KMD1106. Sorry @kayemjay2.

  • @Kipperoo that sounds horrifying, I'm so sorry! Does this change your induction plans at all?

@jayandaplus depending on the purpose/company of your swimming and how body-conscious you're feeling you also don't have to adhere to the "maternity" swimwear designation, especially if you're only going to use it once--anything labeled maternity (or wedding-related) tends to have a markup. You may be able to size up in a regular bikini and do fine! Or (what I did) cobble together an outfit combining a non-maternity plus-sized top (I actually got a full bathing suit and cut the bottom part away) to cover the belly, and regular bottoms. Both of those options would probably look a little weird so they're more utilitarian. There are certainly circumstances where you DO want to look cutely pregnant in swimwear so you may want to continue your maternity search, though.

I think I'm going to start washing some baby clothes today. I need to go buy a bin to put them in first. This poor kid doesn't even have a dresser. I'm waiting until I get to Texas and hope to score off FB Marketplace/yard sale. In fact this kid may or may not have a crib because we may have misplaced the screws in the move.
    Sorry second kid.
I bet you score a great deal with PCS season! We lost the screws for our crib in our second move before DD2 (or the MOVERS lost it) but somehow I still had the instruction manual so I took that to Home Depot and someone was able to get me all new screws based on that.

  • @jayandaplus is simply rocking a bikini an option? Because if you will swim only once then thats what I would suggest! I bought a tankini with my first from target with a regular bottom that I already had, but only wore it late second trimester.

  • @jayandaplus  Depending on how cute you need to be I opted to use a bikini with a fitted wicking maternity workout shirt over it.

  • @cato99 @pshaortao @Louise_Belcher
Thanks for the responses. I might try a plus-size tankini, but so far those are still too small for my bump.
  • @jayandaplus What about a regular bikini with a maternity tank top over it?  I'm thinking specifically of the tanks people unfortunately call "wife beaters".  It's an awful term and I really won't use it.  But you know what I mean?

  • @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot  I know what you mean  :| I'm pretty sure "ribbed tank" is what they were called when I worked retail.
  • @jayandaplus - I bought a suit from Motherhood Maternity last time. It wasn't that expensive as far as suits go ($40?) and got the job done. My big complaint was that none of their suits had underwire, so I didn't feel as supported up top. My Target has a limited selection of maternity suits, which may be another good option.
  • How about a stupid questions thread? We had one on my last BMB. It was just a giant thread of questions.

If not here is my stupid question, I bought a bulb snot sucker (I know most hospitals have them, I like the one I bought because the bulb twist off and can be cleaned!) should I sterilize it with the pacifiers and bottles?
  • @bacorrea i have no idea but I say get a nose frida if you dont have one already. We had gotten a bulb snot sucker from the hospital and felt the frida did the job better.

I'm not a fan of the nose frida. I feel like I can never get the tube clean enough.
  • So my future SIL bridal shower is May 21st. I'm due May 12th. If I go over I could go and be very pregnant, or I could go with a brand new baby. WWBD? It's only about 30min away and my sister and mom would be with me. I feel so bad missing it, I am supposed to RSVP by May 3rd. Would you go?
  • @bacorrea I went to my god sons birthday 2 weeks after baby came I sat a lot you may be fine

@bacorrea I'd plan on going and just babywear the whole time petty much! Andddd if your like only a few days from having the baby and just not comfortable with going I'm sure everyone would understand.

DD1 was born 4 days before Christmas and I showed up to families big Christmas dinner one day after being discharged. I pretty much just sat the whole time!

I think it mostly depends on how comfortable you feel about having the baby around others at that age and how laid back the event will be. DS was 6 days old when we went to his cousin's birthday party and we just kept him in his carrier or away from people as much as possible. I think that if you have extra help in the form of your mom and sister and are comfortable with it, you can probably attend without a problem.
