@mamatowildones, good luck with him staying put! How are you feeling about everything? Did you have any signs that you might go into labor early before today?
Thank you! Paranoid! Haha the boy is doing what he wants when he wants already. I just want to get to 37 as the OB said he'll go to NICU if it's before then. I'm happy I went in and listened to my body and got him the shot he needs. I had some intense back throbbing this morning. Then pure exhaustion this morning. At lunchtime I had one painful contraction and something in me told me to put the boys down for an early nap. Then my body sent me to the bathroom cleaning itself out. Since I've been home dinner went right through me too which isn't the norm.

  • Sonic's diet cherry limeades are my beloved even when not pregnant.  Now I want one, but the closest one is 30 min away.  Chick-fil-A ice is pretty good too.

My latest fixation has been chocolate ice cream sodas, which appear to not be a west coast thing.  I miss Friendly's.

@WombThereItIs thanks for pointing out that phrase. I honestly never knew the origin so I just took the time to google it. I don't think I really ever used it as it was, but I definetly won't going forward.

Re:ice I now want a big shaved ice with grape flavoring!!! I'm gonna have to search for a place tomorrow to get one! Only good thing about a tourist town, you can normally find the odd things that may not be readily available in other non touristy cities.

@jayandaplus I am so sorry you tested positive for flu! I had to take tamiflu this pregnancy and I was bummed, but I'm glad I did take it.

@clebl24 I drink between 80-100oz between water/fun drinks (apple juice, slushie, etc) I bought this awesome water bottle from Walmart that is 40oz so I try to drink 2 a day plus other drinks.

For those of you who can't get sonic/slushie you can go to your local movie theater and just get the goods!

I hope everyone has had a good day! I went to Busch Gardens today and man, it's tough walking through a theme park 35 weeks pregnant haha.
  • Thanks everybody. Not looking good. Will most likely put my boys to bed and then head to L&D.

@mamatowildones: I really hoped you could make it to 37! Good luck tonight if you end up in L&D.

    @clebl24: same here, 80 to 100 ounces/day (either 5x a 20 oz pint glass or 3x this huge 32 oz cup w/lid from a sporting event).

I looked over the Spinning Babies site for tips for my little breech boy, and chatted with my doc today about trying the stretches/positions. She green-lighted me, and it looks like seriously less than 5 mins per day. I can find the time!

We also discussed an external version. Anyone have that done before?
  • I am also very interested to find out if anyone has had an external version. I feel like I remember hearing that it hurts.

Man you all are motivating me to me to drink more water. I do not get even half the amount of liquids, let alone water, that you all drink. Time to step up my game!

  • Funny you ladies are on the slushy topic. The past two days I've HAD to have a slushy from the gas station down the street. Blue raspberry with mountain dew mixed in.
  • I haven't had a 7-11 slurpee in like 20 years but now I want one!

@mamatowildones - ahhh! I hope everything is ok tonight and that baby stays put!

    @clebl24 - I drink about 100 oz per.day.

@Louise_Belcher - I also have heard that they are painful. A couple of weeks ago my ob went to determine baby's position and he was really grabbing head, butt, and limbs from the outside and it hurt so much! He wasn't even trying to move baby around though so I can only imagine how much more painful it would have been if he had been.

  • @mamatowildones I'm so sorry you're having contractions. I hope they can keep baby in there a bit longer. But if he comes I hope he's healthy and happy. Thinking of you!
  • @Louise_Belcher I recall some moms here talking about it and that there are risks that come with doing an external? Something about forcing a baby to switch position doesn't appeal to me, like what if they're that way in the first place for a reason? Plus I have also heard that its pretty painful!

  • Speaking of water I'm starting to think I am probably a little borderline anemic. I was just above the low end of normal on my 28 week labs. I have suddenly started looking forward to eating the ice in my glass once it gets nice and soft. Good thing is that it's making me drink more water! I guess I'm due for a steak!
Is this a thing??? I've had anemia for years and had no idea that ice crunching was a thing. I'm not a fan of ice but apparently need to try Sonic's!

@mamatowildones sending positive vibes your way!!! Hope everything calms down soon and baby continues to cook!

A craving for ice is a common symtom of anemia!

@ShadeofGreen816 My OB told me my numbers were trending towards anemic as well but because an iron supplement would just add to the already wonderful constipation issues from pregnancy she said to just try to up my iron intake in my diet and if I started feeling more tired or weak we would recheck my levels. I was anemic with DD1 and not a fan of the iron supplements! I'm trying to up my protein levels too so I think I'm going to start adding smoothies with fruit, Greek yogurt (for my protein) and spinach (for the iron).

  • @mamatowildones hope all is going well!
  • Whew... had to catch up on 150+ posts as well. Here's what I remember...

@jayandaplus Sucks you're dealing with the flu and still working your crazy ER shifts. I just started modified duty this week and plan to do it for the rest of April. My EDD is May 9 and I've decided to take off after the last shift of the pay period which is April 29. We're allotted 4 weeks off prior to EDD so I'm giving in to at least 1. If you need to work and they'll accommodate you, go for modified duty.

@nda_roxybabe I say take it one day at a time so you don't feel so ancy. That's what I had to do when working full time this past month just to qualify for FMLA.

Which is a perfect segway to @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot, that parental leave policy you wrote sounds amazing! Also, not with you on non-purified water. I've been spoiled by my boss this whole pregnancy as she brings in gallons of alkalinized water to work with her. I can't even drink the regular filtered water in our breakroom, lol. Although, the ice we have is the same as Sonic's and we are told ALL THE TIME how awesome our I've is.

@mamatowildones Sending lots of positive vibes to you and your LO hoping in whatever direction tonight goes, it'll be uneventful. I'll be on the lookout for your update.

As for me, I received a very interesting call that many of our attorney bumpers may be able to weigh in on. If you remember, I posted that I was offered a position at a hospital closer to where I currently live and will be living when our house is completed. This was over 2 weeks ago. I was told by my "new" manager that the position is no longer mine as HR made a mistake with the list of candidates that was sent to her to offer the position to. Apparently, I have the most seniority BUT since I am in a different facility, the person at the same facility gets first dibs. Well, I was totally caught off guard with the phone call. I inquired if there was anything I could do as my family and I already made plans surrounding the acceptance of the position. I was simply told "no" since I haven't actually started in the position yet  (start date April 16). Ugh! I emailed the main union Rep to see what options I may have at the urging of my current manager who said I can force the issue of I really want to.

@nda_roxybabe omg when did clearly canadian come back!
@mamatowildones hoping things slow down tor you! If not safe and speedy delivery
  • @mrsrep123 Thank you for the support!

I can't believe they did that to you!! Are you going g to push the issue? Did you already give notice at your current position?
  • Thanks @yiggle09 and @jayandaplus. Luckily, I would keep my current job if this all falls through. If it was just about principal, I would be raising hell. BUT, I would have to work with these people eventually and I don't know if I want to start off this way. For now, I am gathering all of the necessary information.

It is something worthwhile to spend some time researching. It is apparently painful.  Some places do it under epidural anesthesia others do not.  I have not had one but my doctor has already discussed it with me and I may be willing to attempt it if everything but baby position looks ok.  But it of course im really hoping that baby turns with all my "exercises".

I second this. My OB told me there are risks involved in forcing the baby to flip, and she mentioned the cord could get wrapped around their neck. Made me nervous enough that I don't think I would try it. Take it with a grain of salt, though, because I'm not an expert.

  • @mrsrep123 that stinks about thr retracted job offer.  Was it a verbal offer and acceptance or did you sign an employment contract, paperwork, etc?
  • mrsrep123, I'm not a lawyer, but do they know you're pregnant? If so, that sounds like a lawsuit to me. I know it's really hard to prove that that's why they withdrew the job, though, so I'd be interested to hear what attorneys think as well. Not that you'd have a ton of time to read a blog, but I like this blog called askamanager.org. She answers a lot of HR and work-related questions, and there's a search function so you could look for pregnancy.

I was told I'm a little anemic at my GTT and to take a supplement. I hate it! Pretty sure that's why I keep getting constipated and having stomach issues in general. I add spinach when I can, but I should add more! I don't think I was that off in my count. And oh my gosh I want all the ice haha but that was at the beginning and just started up again. All of my drinks have to be super cold! I want a slurpee but maybe not all the sugar haha
