FTM question. Do most restaurants/public places have baby changing stations in men's restrooms? If/When you are somewhere that doesn't have one at all, do you just go to your car?

Most do not, in my experience, but I think that most family restrooms do. I either do it in the car or I carry a cheap, washable changing mat and just crouch on the floor in the handicap stall. Thankfully I've only had to do that twice.
I hate it when changing stations are out in the open in a bathroom and not in a stall. I don't change baby in public.

I finally spilled the beans on the babies sex to
my Team Green in-laws. Even though I've been super irritated that they don't want to know, it was an honest accident. We were at dinner and I was musing to my husband that we should tell the other James' in the family that that's what we're naming the baby. He just sort of stared at me and it took me a few seconds to realize what I did.

I started crying, and then my MIL told me that my SILs friend had already told her. So she already knew and was just going to be in denial so that we had to keep up the charade? Awesome.

Anyway, it's kind of a relief. I still feel resentful, but at least I can use the babies name and pronouns around them.
My parents apparently already knew I was pregnant before I announced it to them... because my best friends mother has a big mouth  :|. They still acted surprised though.
I'm glad you don't have to tip toe around them anymore though!

  • I know everyone is different, but what does a typical day of eating look like for you? I feel like I keep it healthy and together during the day. But after work I'm starving and it's a free for all of snacks.

I eat like 6 small meals throughout the day so that I don't get too hungry. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all at the normal time, just small portions. I usually have a healthy snack about 2 hours after each meal (though sometimes the after dinner snack isn't as healthy, popcorn or ice cream if we have it in the house).
  • @emeraldNC, I'm late to the game, but I would be SEETHING if someone told me that another teacher had such an attitude about her/your/whoever's students.  I don't care if someone is having a bad day, we all have bad days, and sometimes we vent about those bad days at inappropriate times.  Regardless, actions have consequences (except hers, apparently), and just saying "I had a bad day" is absolutely no excuse for referring to children with special needs as "retarded."   I'm sorry that your administration did nothing with the information either, because that's equally reprehensible in my eyes.

Just to update you guys on this teacher/principal situation....  I have a meeting with her and my principal this afternoon to discuss "her concerns."  I am going to make it a point to also discuss MY concerns.  And because our principal did nothing, I have rallied the other 3 special education teachers, along with our 6 paraprofessionals and some of them have connections to higher ups....... I wasn't going to let this go.
Good for you!  I hope the meeting goes well and there is some resolution!

  • @lmmama I just eat when I'm hungry.  Not really on any kind of schedule.  I try to have Greek yogurt every morning for protein and usually some fruit just whatever is on hand at home.  I keep pistachios in my desk and snack on those when I need something to get me through until meal time.  I go out to lunch everyday, simply because it gets me out of my office and the break of scenery is just a part of my day.  If I'm home and randomly hungry sometimes I'll just have a glass of milk and wait 10-15 min to see if I'm still hungry.  Sometimes I just need some protein.  I also have a bowl of cereal for dinner if I've had something less than healthy for lunch.  I call it balance :-)
  • Is the bump app working for everyone today? I'm having issues! And it's annoying.
  • @MKRLTX, Almost everywhere by me has changing tables in the ladies room and very few places have them in the men's room (We should all be complaining about this!). My biggest tip is to carry the large disposable changing pads from BRU in your diaper bag and put those down on the changing table (instead of a reusable changing pad) because those tables are often dirty and who wants to put a pad down on one and then put it back in their clean diaper bag? The car's a great place to do changes if the weather is mild and you're in a safe location. If you're desperate, you could ask the staff where they suggest you change a diaper, it should be their problem as much as yours if they don't have a changing table. I would not put my baby on a bathroom floor, but I also would not change her in the middle of a restaurant or anything like that.
  • @loton01 I'm so very sorry to see you lost your little ones.  My heart breaks for you.  Wishing you nothing but peace as you try to move forward with your loss.  Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
  • @JessyKV I haven't been able to login to the "community" portion of the app for like a week. It's annoying.

@LMMama I also pretty much eat what I want, when I want it. If I start gaining weight too fast then I'll re-evaluate.

This is what I need to do, but I end up just grazing all day instead. I do try to make sure everything in our house is healthy so I can't choose anything too bad.

  • @loton01 not to pick an open sore and you don't need to answer if you don't want to.  Were you able to have some time with them? For memories and for grieving and closure?  I just really hope you were given that time.  It just breaks my heart.
  • @LOTON01 so sorry for your loss. Hugs.

  • @Wearmi1 no worries I'm happy to answer any questions or tell the complete story.

We were not given time with them however that was a choice we made. Both babies actually passed before I delievered. My blood pressure was extremely high and extremely dangerous for me. There were points that I wasn't even lucid. Because of this the doctors didn't want me to go through labor and the babies were surgically removed. H and I decided that for us it would be best if we didn't see them. I am sure many people have many opinions on this but for us it's what seemed best.

I don't even remember the 24 hours after surgery. It was touch and go with my health for awhile. So everything that happened was very emergent for my health.
  • @LOTON01 I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your babies. I will be praying for you and your family and am wishing you good health.
  • @LOTON01 i'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Will be thinking of you, sending hugs.
