Anyone have suggestions on how to go about donating cord blood? My hospital said I'd just need to bring in a kit myself, and they'd take care of it and send it back. Are there particular websites that would be good for finding a blood bank for this, or do I just kind of search, find one, and go with it?

  • You are allowed to rant on here any time @Kipperoo :) Bummer you might have a rough night with DS tonight. Sending you good vibes that DS goes down nice and easy tonight (it could happen)
  • @kipperoo fingers crossed tonight is ok for you!

Are all pregnancy belly support belts created equal? My OB recommended one to help relieve some of the pain I'm feeling around my stitches. They all look relatively close in price, but I'm not sure if I should go for the one that goes over and under the belly, or just under.

  • Well, doesn't look so good for the house we're trying to buy...guess we'll be looking for an apartment this weekend. Really wish they wouldn't have got our hopes up last week when we could have backed out and gotten some of our money back.

  • @BabyMC517 sorry about the house :(. That stinks

@CherryBananas I hope someone can chime in about the support belts!  I think I need one too.  My belly hurts after standing and walking around at work all day.

@mcvgal sending you and your precious babe all the positive thoughts and prayers.  Much internet stranger love to you and yours!!
  • @mcvgal Sending the positive vibes.  Keep us posted on you and baby!

  • Thanks @rkstro2 we're pretty bummed about it. I mean I guess there might be something else we can do but I don't think so. The loan officer hasn't returned our calls from us returning his.

  • @CherryBananas and @rkstro2  I found that a simple support belt was perfect - I wore it lower / under the belly earlier on to actually hold it "up" and then as the belly got bigger I just wrapped it at the level of my belly button more to keep it *in* so that my obliques weren't trying so hard (I got this one on Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Pregnancy-Belt-Belly-Support-Breathable/dp/B01JO6O9WA/ref=sr_1_10_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1488584927&sr=8-10&keywords=maternity+belly+support). I heard awesome things about the Belly Bandit "Upsie Belly" but I really didn't feel like I needed to spend $70 on a support belt. Glad I didn't!

  • @mcvgal good luck tonight! Hope all goes smoothly and yay for having your favorite doctor that helps with some of the stress.

@Jens_Hoes congrats on the job interview. I am glad you are ok either way and you seem real confident letting them know you are pregnant. I'm sure that helps with nerves. Good luck to you.
  • @mcvgal - prayers for you and baby!

  • @mcvgal. Thinking of you this evening.
  • @CherryBananas I have a support belt that is suppose to have the over and under the belly straps, but I got it for free from someone and they didn't give me the over strap. I don't notice any difference. I usually wear it when my sciatica is really mad and it really helps with that.
  • @mcvgal been praying for you all day!

The day I forgot mine on inpatient wards I used a 6" wide Ace wrap (gently wrapped around the belly) and it kept me sane. Haven't forgotten the real deal since then (including longer walks while I've been on antepartum)

  • I can't believe how fast pregnant me can get dehydrated. Yesterday I drank >120 oz of water, woke up this morning feeling like I had the start of a cold and sore throats so my fluid intake was lower but probably close to 60-70 oz. I am so dehydrated and having lots of BH contractions. I realize that my fluid requirements are even higher with whatever virus is invading me, but damn. As a person who lived chronically dehydrated before this pregnancy I am just astounded!
  • @mdlorenz @absbubbs thank you! I'll just get the under belly one then. I appreciate your input

@BabyMC517 that's too bad about the house.

  • I've had such a long and stressful week at work. We were delivering annual reviews and there was some drama going on. It all got figured out in the end but it was so emotionally exhausting.

On the bright side: it's my birthday tomorrow! Whee!

@mcvgal keep us posted when you can!
  • @mcvgal Hoping everything went well with you and baby. I can't wait to hear about your LO!
  • @mcvgal CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!  <3

  • @mcvgal I got really choked up reading about Lucia's arrival. Congrats, mama <3

Im at the lab for my glucose test and already nauseous. If I manage to keep this down I'm stopping at the little donut shop on the way home.
  • Congrats, @mcvgal! I'm so happy that Lucia made such a bang into this world and you're both doing well. Keep us posted!

  • Congrats @mcvgal! So happy for you and your family!

Thanks to those who commented on our house situation (can't remember and I'm mobile bumping)! Guess it just wasn't meant to be and time to move on. Little stressed to have to find something else so quickly but I'm sure we'll figure something out. Trying to stay positive and not worry too much!

  • @mcvgal aaah!!!!! I'm so happy that Lucia came out crying!! Hooray for solid lungs!!!!!!!!!
(As a former NICU mom myself, I'm hoping that she has the BEST NICU nurses (I feel like NICU nurses are usually a special sort of always awesome.) and I hope you remember to take care of yourself, as well as all your care of her :). )
  • Congrats @mcvgal! Reading about baby Lucia was the best way to start my morning today :) So happy for you!
