I slept like garbage last night. My poor husband is sick and was coughing all night. My girls were up and down all night. I called in sick to work because I just don't have the energy today.
I hate pumping. I would rather never leave my child then have to pump. Obviously that isn't realistic. I just had a super hard time getting DD to latch last time and I am not looking forward to pumping at all.
I am pretending I am too tired to toddler wrangle solo next week but actually I am really excited my husband is going to be out of town. I get to do things my way on my time and without having to ask someone 4,678,921 times for help. This has guilted my husband (without me saying anything) into doing all the laundry before he goes, he is doing dishes nightly, and picking up extra bedtime shifts, Yay!

@WombThereItIs Ugh this hadn't even occurred to me! Getting myself to finish my salad (when I have one) is like pulling teeth. And one day I'm going to have to be a role model?
Although I will say that I'll try to avoid my parents' take on giving me "salads" when I was little--I demanded them without any lettuce, so really just the dressing, crutons, egg, and bacon bits. Gross (but maybe secretly delicious)...
I can't help it! I can pee in the toilet and walk straight over to the shower (like 2.5 seconds away) and still that warm water makes me have to go again. During pregnancy it is particularly unavoidable.
One of my coworkers purchased a pump that is covered by our insurance. I TOLD her she didn't have to buy one but I feel like she felt like the insurance options would be cheap or crappy. She got a Spectra S2. And it makes me so annoyed! You pay for health insurance so you shouldn't have to pay for that! I dont know why I care!!
This is more of a pregnancy brain thing, but someone at work just asked how many months I am and I just stared at them. Then I was like oh, how many months have I worked here. Oh. Nope. You're pregnant dummy. They want to know how pregnant. Helllllloooo Friday

#2 I don't eat enough veggies throughout the day...I'm a horrible person and keep thinking baby isn't getting enough nutrients!
#3 When my stomach is messed up, like last week, I stop taking my prenatal because I think it irritates it more. I'm usually pretty good about it, but I've had to stop a couple of times.
#4 I woke up in the middle of the night to pee, couldn't get back to sleep and now I'm crabby and don't want to be at work. Plus, its the last day before spring break and we are dead...can I go home now????

I've been holding this one back- I do not wear deodorant unless im going to a fancy function or something. I'm not a crunchy granola person or anything I just don't wear it.
@Hansolosparka My cousin's wife didn't know that the insurance covered a free pump, so I let her know the process. I heard from my aunt yesterday that she thinks I'm a smart ass and she doesn't want a cheap breast pump. I was pretty annoyed and hurt by the comment.
I've been horrible about taking my prenatals this pregnancy. I even set them on top of my phone charger so that I have to see them when I plug my phone in at night. Somehow I still forget them 50% of the time.
My 1.5 year old still drinks a bottle of milk before bed..... I know I need to get rid of the bottles but he's just too cute when he says bottle please! Every night when I watch him drink it, I think about how he is too old. He drinks it down so fast and he palms it with one hand....
Lets just say the one provided by insurance IS crappy - what's the downfall of having a crappy one for free plus a good one that you buy on your own? I legit see no downside.
@lrwardrop my son is 1.5 as well and gets a morning bottle because he drinks it so fast. He just doesn't down it from the sippy so for the mornings and expedience I keep the bottles. The days I try to give the sippy he will drink it but then we have to take it with us on our way to daycare because he doesn't guzzle from the sippy like he does the bottle.
Am I missing something about the pumps through insurance? Aren't they the same as if you were to buy it yourself except you're getting it either free or significantly discounted?

Ohhh. I have one. I hate Wonder Weeks. People are like "omg I know that xyz is about to happen because the app told me." Maybe, maybe not. I mean there are Moms that LIVE and BREATHE that app and I am just like, sometimes the answer is that your baby is just a baby. They are literally always in a developmental stage of some sort.
I mean if it keeps you sane, great. Not for me though.
Oh also another one, I don't like baby sign language. I know that it can be very beneficial, however all of my friends that have gone that route never encourage their kids to actually speak! It drives me mad. I just think too many parents don't use it properly and it ends up being a crutch for a kid and then everyone freaks out about delayed speach, when really you just never talked to your kid.
I love it when dd likes sweets. I know people normally try to keep young kids away from them... But she cant eat out bc if her food is cooked on the same surface as chicken then shed get sick (we tried once and it didnt go well) and she typically hates sweet tasting things so when i get her to eat a cookie, it makes me feel like shes not really missing out as much
Just thought of another... I havent read much in to pace feeding but based on my experience it seems silly. Dd was just shy of 9 lbs at birth and guzzled down 4 ozs shortly after (a few days or weeks idr) and eventually had huge bottles every 3 hours but without it she was sooooo upset. She still has a huge appetite but now at 19 months only weighs 25 lbs. Why would i limit her when she obviously needed the nutrition? A friend of mine never let her baby have more than 5 ozs at the time and i just cant imagine how dd would have been if id limited her so much.
@bacorrea I KNOW you don't mean baby sign in the same way that I use it with younger daughter, but it still made me hardcore cringe to see that. Sign is actually really really helpful for kids with a speech and language delay. We are working so hard in therapy and at home to get her to sign or say anything! (Uh oh started this week!!!! We are over the moon excited!!!) I honestly don't see how you could possibly be using sign with your kids and not speaking (unless you are deaf or unable to talk and ASL is your primary language, in which case you're still talking to your kid.) But, I don't know the people you are talking about, so maybe you're totally right about them!
Right! @Squirtgun I don't mean baby sign for kids who are delayed, deaf, etc. I mean parents who are using sign to help their kids communicate "more" "milk" etc that are perfectly capable of speaking. Maybe I just know a bunch of people that do baby sign improperly.
My FFFC- I'm super pissed about the Beauty and the Beast oh my goodness there's a gay character thing. *sarcasm voice activated* I mean, clearly it is entirely wholesome and realistic that it's totally fine for a girl to fall in love with a huge monster. Like, that's a totally rational and real love story that we should hope our daughters use as a perfect example of love in their lives. So, having a secondary character who is a man fall in love with another secondary character who is a man will clearly corrupt and distort the perfect and beautiful love story that is falling in love with a scary monster! *sarcasm voice off*
(so... My college roomie and I had vastly different views on many topics, and we were able to calmly and rationally discuss all of these issues. The only time we truly got into a fight was when I said that while I love Beauty and the beast, it is a seriously disturbing story. Haha. I am so excited for the new movie, and will definitely go see it... But still seriously disturbing storyline!)
@squirtgun that confused me too. We did baby sign with DS and every sign was accompanied by the word said orally. We also talked to him a bunch without signing because there's only so much you can communicate with Baby Signing Time's vocabulary list. I think it really helped him develop speech because he could communicate basic needs earlier than he would have normally been able to which was exciting for us and for him.
Maybe this is a FFFC but I never bothered with baby sign. I know they used it some at daycare but I only ever picked up on one sign and even then I had to ask his room what it meant.

I've always been creeped out by Beauty and the Beast. It never seemed right that she fell in love with her angry captor. I'm not one to censor kids' programming, so DD knows and likes Belle but she is also creeped out by Beast and usually won't watch the movie.
The worst is parents whose children are deaf, but because they wear cochlear implants or hearing aids the parents refuse to teach them sign language. So when the Cochlear implant or hearing aid is removed or broken or lost the child has NO way to communicate. Infuriating.

Right, what gets me about the whole issue is that I thought it was quite obvious in the original as a child that he had a crush on Gaston. All I can do is laugh at all these parents that say they won't let their children watch the new version because of it, but will allow them to watch the cartoon. Sorry, but you've clearly never seen the movie then!

I mean, come on, with all those girls falling down at Gaston's feet and he is too? Or the way he responds to be right there at his beck and call? Now I want to watch Beauty and the Beast.
I think the Beauty and the Beast thing is overblown for a different reason. Why are we so pumped there is another closeted gay character? That isn't really much progress.
Yesterday I concealed my pregnancy with a coat to get an ear piercing that I've been wanting for years. I feel slightly guilty, but none of the shops in town want the liability of piercing someone who is pregnant even though I am stuck with needles more in this 9 month span than any other time in my life and this was the same sterile process. There, I said it. I did something bad.
I've got nothing original (common theme for the week) because I'm having a crap day at work and I just want to quit. So, forgive me for not tagging people...
I have always thought Gaston was gay, and I'm not really sure why people are getting so huffy about it. I think the story line of Beauty and the Beast is creepy, as is The Little Mermaid...what with the 16 year old and the older man and him being totally ok with her not talking and her father being totally ok with her marrying this older man? It's just too much.
I'm "meh" about baby sign language. I took sign language for 4 years in high school and still remember quite a bit, but I never taught DS any of it. Daycare taught him some, but the only work he ever really signed was/is "please". And he's been talking NON STOP since like 1 year, so I now reflect fondly on a period of relative silence, haha...
I, too, despise Wonder Weeks. Babies are a huge pain a lot of the time because they are new humans learning new things with very little mobility or ability to communicate...validating that with a week to week guide book seems unnecessary and just opens the door for more needless worry. "Oh no, my kid isn't hitting xyz Wonder Week! I hope they aren't developmentally behind?!" Don't you fret...it you kid hasn't had the 5 week sleep regression, chances are it will slap you upside the head at week 6.

DD is speech delayed, and it has nothing to do with me not talking to her because I talk to her all day yet she is still speech delayed. There is not necessarily a correlation between the two either, so that generalization or assumption is insulting.
So the handful of signs we used became a lifesaver. DD could finally tell me she wanted milk instead of water, or needed help, or was hungry instead of thirsty.
