@lovelee85@busyzee I feel like it shouldn't be painful, especially this early (maybe later on when baby's bones are stronger and their kicking you in the ribs). If it's pain I would say it's probably something else. What does it feel like?

It feels like baby is kicking/jabbing my cervix(?!) or a nerve that is low, and painful. It makes me wince and make faces. This baby is just so low down there. I had sciatica last pregnancy so it's not that, or anything as harsh as that.

Hmm. I haven't experienced that but I'm sure it's possible! You'd think if you can feel that though, you would feel other, non-painful movement as well (since baby is likely moving and changing positions frequently). Have you asked your doctor if it could be something else?

Oh i do feel some non-painful movement, but I still don't like it. And 70% of it is the wincing nerve feeling one.

ooh gotcha. Sorry it was BusyZee who said she felt painful movements but no non-painful ones.
To each their own - I probably wouldn't' like it either if it was painful most of the time!! Hang in there!
@Rae1 I basically feel like an internal bruise kind of pain...if that makes sense? It comes and goes but the pain is very blunt I wouldn't really call it pain but it's not pleasant.
+1 for the cervical punch/kick group! Those are not fun, plus they give me the irrational concern that she's going to cause my membranes to rupture or kick her way through my cervix... (I did say it was irrational lol). Plus they are uncomfortable already! What am I going to do when she gets stronger?

@lovelee85 I had cervix punches for a week or two before feeling anything else--it literally felt like the kid was flicking my cervix from the inside and gave me a slight feeling of "lightning crotch" that people refer to...now I'm feeling more movement on the front of my belly (not outside much yet but inside). But I started with the cervix punches and I didn't like them either haha.
@Cait32 This must be the 'lightning crotch'?! Sounds just like it. My son carried a lot higher, and this baby girl feels like she's going to fall out half the time because she is so low!! @manillabar I also know she won't, but sometimes I'm like omg here she comes!? AHHHH! I actually had a pep talk with her last week just saying 'you are freaking mommy out, you need to cook for a lot longer, baby girl!'
Last night I was in the hot tub and felt the strongest outside kicks yet! I was so bummed DH wasn't around - he hasn't felt it yet!
Man I can't believe you feel outside kicks already! I barely feel light flutters and hubs runs over and tries to feel and I have to tell him, I can barely feel it inside haha, there's no way you'll be able to feel it outside yet. He's more excited than me I think!
Am I the only one who's husband gets wierded out if he feel kicks? Like he is freaked out by it, was with DS too. So I decided I would be the big spoon and make him feel it when we were snuggling haha

I was thinking about why this might be, and the best I can think is maybe because I had no abs at all to start with?? Mostly it's more like squirmy or taps while I'm laying in bed, it just that once was really solid kicks/punches and I was sitting up. DH is having a hard time distinguishing between the squirms and me moving/breathing - I feel like he should have been able to feel it by now! This morning he said he could "maybe" tell... Highly monitored internet and no cell service in the office, so I'm postin' and ghostin' while I'm workin'

Yea, I can usually tell based on the strength I feel if he will be able to feel them on the outside or not. He can probably only feel them on the outside ~25% of the time right now. So I try not to say anything if I know he won't be able to feel.
I am 19w today and nothing. Sometimes I feel a tiny pressure. With DD I felt at 16w a lot. This is my second and I thought for sure I'd feel by now. But it's still early, right?
I'm trying not to get frustrated that DH can't feel her yet since I know it will happen soon enough. I can feel some of the kicks/punches from the outside, but I'm guessing that's because I feel them internally too.
Everything I feel is really low...like closer to my pelvis than my belly button. For some reason, she almost always moves after I empty my bladder. Maybe I'm taking her pillow away and she has to readjust?
I am finally starting to feel some movement! I'm so happy, especially since this is my last baby, I am trying to savor each little thing. I'm going to miss feeling these little karate chops from the inside!
I wish I could see what the baby is doing in there when I feel him consistently moving. Like I wish I had a better picture in my mind...is he transverse? Is that his arm or foot poking me? Is he stretching out or just wailing his arms? Is he like swimming around or is it already tight in there for him?
@kat0607 I've had similar thoughts. Like, what is she thinking in there? Especially when she makes the really big movements that I can feel, or when she's flipping all over during the ultrasounds. Is she upset, trying to get comfortable, or just playing? Supposedly their movements are more purposeful now, too, which makes me wonder even more!

I *think* I finally felt the baby move in the middle of the night last night. However, I had restless sleep, so I'm not entirely sure if I felt it or if I dreamed it.
@PurplePumpernickel same here! I think last night I tried to pay attention to what's going on and I think I felt movement. I'm not sure. It's mostly jabs and bubbles so I don't know if it's baby or just my muscles stretching or my stomach. I have no idea what to expect.

Agreed! I was sad because my lunch plans fell through so I was texting DH that I was alone in my office eating a chicken tender and then Thump Thump! Someone didn't want to be forgotten. Two little jabs and I'm reminded I'm never alone.
Usually when I start eating, it's little taps that become bigger thumps. I've been shocked every day this week because I've consistently felt movement for the last four or five days. It was very sparse starting at week 16 on the dot and only happened about once every 8 days or so. I love those little reminders!
@maybeitsmadeline - I am jealous you started it at 16 weeks lol. I think mine were around mid 19 week lol. It's definitely strange to feel the movements (in my case fluttery / flippy feeling) when I am watching Criminal Mind. I just tell myself the baby likes the show too

@SaphireSweetie88 It's really interesting what they respond to! I was so unsure those first few times that that was even it, but it was unlike anything I'd ever felt, so I just decided that that was baby like you did up above for PurplePumpernickel lol! I had to be sitting super still or standing like a statue in a quiet room and it was like teeny, tiny, itsy bitsy fish flops and pops like bubbles. I know that was a lot of small words, but I want to get across that I was laser focused on the feeling and I wouldn't move and barely breathed so I could pay close attention. Now it's definitely the same feeling, but more pronounced and sometimes I kind of yell out because it surprises me and I never see it coming.
I think our babies have to be super in-tuned to what we are feeling. You were watching a kind of high thrill show and baby probably got excited. I feel my baby most when I'm eating, so I'm sure I'll have an avid food lover on my hands just like DH and myself.
The tech at my anatomy scan said I actually do have an anterior placenta again this time. I guess you really can feel movement a lot sooner as a stm. I didn't feel a thing until 22 weeks last time, but this time it was 17 weeks. I don't feel her every day, but it's getting more frequent.

For those of you who have been feeling movements for the past few weeks - how soon after you first felt them did the movements become regular? I first felt something definitive this week Tuesday (at 20wks exactly) but since then they're been pretty erratic..I realize this varies and is normal for most, but is there an average time that it takes for movements to become more regular/ predictable? Thanks!
@mj8215 I'm still not feeling anything regular this time but last pregnancy I think I was almost in third tri before I felt really regular movement. I'm pretty sure it's not necessary to count kicks until 27 weeks (someone please correct me if that's off?) so it's normal to feel movement off and on before then. Exciting that you're feeling something now- it's the best feeling!
It took me around 3.5 weeks from the first little flutters. I'm 22 weeks and now she's very regular. I'm a FTM so I don't know how normal this is, but the regularity came on really suddenly this week. It was almost like a switch was flipped from feeling occasional movement to feeling 10-15 kicks/punches every couple hours. (I downloaded one of those kick counter apps just for fun.) But like @OperaSingerMommy noted, I don't think we need to be concerned until 3rd trimester.
@mj8215 I started to feel it around 16 weeks and only since 20,3 (I'm 21,3 now) did it become a regular thing. As in at least a couple times every day. I did have an anterior placenta, but they didn't say anything at my anatomy scan and I forgot to ask so I'm not sure if I still do.
@maybeitsmadeline I sometimes make weird noises and get this surprised look on my face when the baby makes a big move in me, and everyone around me looks at me like I'm crazy. I keep havig t explain tha its just the baby

@mj8215 I started feeling occasional movement around 18 weeks. Probably around 20 it became pretty regular that'd I'd for sure feel her morning and night. This week (22) is when I started feeling her pretty consistently throughout the day.
