We love our NoseFrida! Damien isn't as much of a fan but it does a lot of good. I have a small stockpile of breastmilk and colostrum that I plan to use as well. I don't know if they will help but couldn't hurt, right?
My LO caught my cold last week but thank heavens it was really mild. My SIL recommended the Little Remedies cold kit with both the saline and the aspirator but I didn't end up needing it (maybe it helped that I'm still breastfeeding?)
This morning as I was feeding Abby I noticed her ear felt wet. I turned on the light and her right ear was covered in clear water like liquid. She had been pulling on that ear for the last two days but otherwise has been very happy. I'm going to try to get into her pediatrician today, but does this sound like an ear infection? We are flying around Christmas so I'm really hoping this won't be something that could bother her then.
Our LO had an ear infection and one day I noticed crusty stuff in her ear. I was hoping this was a good sign, but the ped said her ear drum ruptured and the infectious fluid was draining. He prescribed ear drops for 5 days. By the time we went to the ped the ear drum had already repaired itself (seems pretty common after talking to ped).
LO has had a fever of 100.8 since Monday night. It broke Tuesday morning, but the doc said to keep him home and monitor. He has phlegm and a bit of nose congestion, is sleepy often but not cranky. Doesnt seem interested in play. Last night, he woke up crying around 10pm with the fever of 100.8. Tylenol again and it went down, but this morning, the temp is creeping up to 99.4 again! The doc saw no ear infection signs or throat infection. WTH??

Sounds like his body is fighting something off, I wouldn't get to worried. Did he tell you if it got to a certain temp to bring him in?
He just said to call him if the fever comes back (it did). He just prescribed an antibiotic just in case it is a bacterial infection. Gotta pick those up after work. I went to visit him at the daycare and he'd just woken up from his nap and had a heaping bowl of cereal (I didn't realize they were feeding him so much!). He was smiling and grunting "MMM!!!" He loves his oatmeal.
Preston has his second cold and it suuuuuucks. He was so clogged up last night that he woke up right as I was going to bed. After trying a steam shower, suction and a rub, we had to go for a drive cause it's the only place he can fall asleep without wanting to suck his thumb and I was hoping the cold air would dry is nose up. It took a while for him to fall asleep but when he did we out the carseat in the guest room and I slept on the futon with the carseat next to my head so I can hear him breathing. Certainly wasn't an issue cause he sniffled all night and woke up at 4:30 miserable. Idk how I'm gonna get him to sleep today cause he can't even nurse right and rarely falls asleep while nursing anyway.

Yeah and I've already sucked out so much but it just keeps coming.

Hope he feels better soon! Bennett just got over another cold (his third so far). It sucks so bad especially when they start having trouble with nursing. One thing that I found really helps him is to to put saline solution in a nebulizer and let him breathe that in for 8-10 mins. We bought a nebulizer for about $50 when he got sick about 2 months ago when he needed an albuterol treatment. This last time he got sick, we just put the saline solution in it, and it seemed to really help open everything up. Since it's just saline solution, we did it a few times a day.

Aww, poor guy. Sorry to hear that he's suffering. We're just getting over S's first cold here. The nose frida has been a lifesaver, along with the boogie mist saline spray. But it sounds like ours wasn't quite as bad as what you're dealing with. Hope he feels better soon!
This cold is so bad. He is so stuffy and his eyes are swollen. I feel horrible for him cause nothing seems to be helping. The only thing that seemed to help last night was when he dozed off on my shoulder we went in the bathroom with the shower running for 15 min before laying him down. That doesn't always work but we are happy it did last night. Also my mom is a bitch cause I asked for some help at the house cause I got very little sleep, and she texted me back saying that she's busy and doesn't wanna get sick, she doesn't want to come over if it's just company that I need. I'm super over this shit with her and with Preston sick I have a short fuse. I have been trying to get him to sleep for his nap but he is so uncomfortable that if I actively try to make him sleep he just cries which makes things worse. I got him calm enough to just hang out in his crib so I'm hoping he will be chill enough to just doze off to sleep since I am clearly useless to him

Sorry mama! Sick babies are no fun. And that's terrible that your mom doesn't want to help you. Hoping you are able to get some rest today!

Thanks loves. My mom actually called today to offer some chicken broth but I was already in a state so I kinda yelled at her and hung up. I called back 5 min later to apologize for losing my cook but turns out she was on her way to my house with the broth. Maybe she just needed to be yelled at.
This is only Prestons second cold and the first one was complicated by his sleep issues and an ear infection plus reaction to antibiotics. This cold seems more like a "normal" cold. He was really runny a few days and since yesterday he's gotten thicker greener mucus and a wet cough. Does this mean it will be clearing up soon? About how long did your LOs colds last? I really want him feeling better by Saturday since we won't be home.

I would think he should be better by Saturday. Once you have school age kids the colds can last longer because they can keep getting different strains. My 4 yr old was sick for 3 weeks and they were clearly 3 different colds. Charlotte's having a hard time kicking this cold but I'm hoping it's almost over. And just so know a cough can last for 2 weeks but that doesn't mean they are still sick. The first time one of my boys had a cough for that long I got really worried. I remember that I called my ped so many times with my first baby it was crazy. I hope he gets to feeling better sooner rather then later.
My poor baby has a sinus infection She has had a cold for the past 2.5 weeks and just isn't getting better. DH took her to the doctor today and she said that's Savannah has a bacterial sinus infection and put her on antibiotics.
Hopefully she stars to feel better (and sleep better) soon!

Oh no! I hope the medicine can at least help her get better faster. Somehow none of my kids have ever needed antibiotics, so I still dread the idea of an infection of any kind. Hang in there!
Damien has eczema under his chin, neck, and on his upper chest due to excessive drooling. The ped noted it on Tuesday and recommended we use Aquaphor 3-4 times a day. When we give him a bath, we should make sure to use lukewarm water since hot water can irritate it. She also recommended he wear a bib during the day to catch most of it. I noticed that on the days he wears a sweater, it is much worse so I think I will forgo sweaters until it is healed. Anyway, he has had a tough time falling asleep and staying asleep in the evenings. He eventually does pass out for good but I couldn't figure out why he was waking so often initially. My husband noticed tonight on the monitor that he is scratching his neck and chin. He wondered if the eczema could be bothering him enough to disrupt his sleep and I think he is right! I obviously hadn't thought of it and feel bad that Damien has been dealing with this every night for days.
So tonight I went in and applied a fresh layer of Aquaphor and while it did calm him down instantly as I rubbed it on, which confirmed to me that eczema was the problem, it didn't help. It makes sense though since it doesn't effect itching. I then applied Sudocrem and it worked like a charm. He was asleep within minutes.
My DD got her booster flu shot on Wednesday and it went well. Then when I picked her up for my mom Friday afternoon my mom mentioned she has started to get a rash on her forehead. Later that evening we noticed that she felt a touch warm so we took her temperature and it was about a degree above normal. She also started to get a rash on her cheeks and was pretty red. That night she was super fussy and cried in the night for a couple of hours and I ended up having to nurse her. She normally sleeps through the night with no problem. Elevated temp continued Saturday morning and then leveled out. The rash went away on her face yesterday as well. But yesterday evening she started to get congested and again struggle to the night last night because of the congestion. Now today she super stuffy and has a runny nose. I also noticed on her leg where the injection was for the flu shot she had a slight rash and now it's dry almost like eczema. Anyone else had a similar experience after the flu shot? I'm wondering if it's related or if she just happened to pick something up while she was at the doctor's office that day. Lucky us!

My LO had a fever for about 2 days after getting her flu shot. She also had a runny nose and a bit of a cough for a few days later. I didn't notice any rash though. She also received two other vaccines at that checkup but they were the same ones she had gotten at her 4 month checkup and she had no reaction that time so I think it was related to the flu vaccine. She gets the second dose of the flu shot next week so I'm hoping she doesn't react the same way.

Jackie ran a 99* fever for less than 24 hours and she wasn't feeling well. No rash, cough, or runny nose. Just rosy fever cheeks.

Since she had redness at the site of injection I would say call the office tomorrow and let them know. My son had a reaction a few weeks ago, most likely food related, and when I talked to a NP from children's hospital Denver (on call service for our office) one of the questions she asked was if he had had any shots that week, he had, but she wasn't concerned about the injections for us because his injection site was normal.
LO had a fever of 101.4 and was moody/congested yesterday. He's still congested today but no fever. I'm guessing his flu booster shot wont be done today since he's not well.
LO had a fever for three days, creeping up each day to a max of 104. Tylenol helped bring it down. The morning I was going to call the PED, her fever broke and she broke out in a very fine rash. Turns out she had roseola. What a week. And poor baby obviously felt terrible.

Poor baby! It is so hard when little ones are sick : (
Levi is working through day 3 of his second bilateral ear infection. His appetite for food is basically non-existent although thankfully his formula intake is about the same. He won't break this fever that likes to stay anywhere from 100.6-101.7 as soon as the Motrin or Tylenol wears off. He's also congested with a wet cough but the urgent care Dr said his lungs sounded clear Saturday night. Poor baby feels so terrible.
So now he also has RSV... Poor little guy is miserable!
No fun! Hope he is better soon! I am so paranoid about RSV with my son, my daughters had the synagis prevention shots but he doesn't qualify being a term baby.
The antibiotics give him a little bit of diarrhea so we are trying to get ahead of this butt rash too. I think we might be turning a corner, at least fever wise.
Poor little guy seems to be playing more and has been fever free almost two days, but still no appetite for food, only bottles. He was eating a 5 oz container, 3 times a day before all his and he's probably only had enough to make up one container all week total. I know he's getting nutrition bc he's drinking normal.amount of bottles and I'm trying to get him to sip Pedialyte in between if he will. I just thought that with feeling a little better he'd want to eat too.
When my daughter was 1 1/2 she had to have it done. She had to have all three doses, three days in a row, but the doctor saw improvements after each dose. It was a last resort since she had been through all the other antibiotics but it worked well. It must be really painful though because she cried every time we went to the doctor for the next few months. Good luck! Hope your LO feels better soon!
