Been prepping the hospital bag, nursery, and long term sub plans during all my free time. Hence my non-activity/mad lurking skills lately... sorry ladies! I'm on TB after being woken up by THUNDERSTORMS a full hour before my alarm was set to go off. So much for sleeping in, blah.
What's been goin' down in Dubtown - I'm going to be amazed if LO makes it to my EDD of March 16. At 37 weeks, she's dropped, so I don't have the breathlessness and palpitations that plagued me for literally months (seriously - ALL of 2nd tri and half of 3rd tri). However, she's a taaalllll baby, and I'm very petite (not quite 5'1with a nonexistent torso), so it's crowded in there. She'll often have her butt squished right up to one side of my rib cage, while her head smushes my bladder. I'd complain, but I think she might be just as uncomfortable as I am!!
Basically, I don't blame LO at all if she chooses to make an early exit. And the period-like cramping, as well as the loss of at least some of my mucus plug several days ago, has me on high alert!
@mcdonald-bailey I totally thought I'd posted before but realized I hadn't. So sorry, hon. I'm beyond elated for you that your gorgeous rainbow (with an equally gorgeous name) has arrived safe and sound in your arms. You deserve all the happy mama + newborn moments in the world.
@Cbeanz yes ma'am - 40+1 and still kicking! Dont worry... I'm so bump addicted to ya'll pretty ladies that I'm probably going to tell you guys I'm in labor before I call my DH or childcare. Bahahah.
Had some loose bowel stuff this morning--but I think that's more relaxed to anxiety than labor. Heading to my DDs 18mo appt this morning, and I've been up since 5am dreading it! I get so anxious about leaving the comfort of my home and the "what ifs" of what if I don't feel good, what if I go into labor... but I guess it's good to get this appointment out of the way before baby 2 arrives!
@npaulie looks like @kjd291 and @longliveregina got you covered - I'd think it was prep as well. But working until 8pm tonight?!?! I absolutely hope your lo waits until after this pamper pkg you deserve it!!! Try to take it easy today!
@kjd291 good luck at the appointment this morning - let it be uneventful and your back home soonest.
I'm with you though probably best to get it out of the way now. I'm thinking we will have DS's 18mo appt at the same time as #2's first appt (1 or 2 weeks if she's late I suppose!) That I'm sure will be a intense eye opening "welcome to being a mom of 2" event lol.
@vino831 thank you! I thought the same thing when they scheduled this one afew mo ago--I figured I'd either be bringing a newborn along or reschedule to do both together in another week or something! Guess this kid had different plans! So just gonna get DDs done now and I'll try to go by myself for the first one with baby 2.
Major back and leg pain from walking! But no real contractions or anything! Slept like a log. Woke up pregnant again like groundhog's day. 38+3 today hanging out at 5cm!

Hahaha!
Used to be my fav movie since my birthday is on groundhog's day. My birthday everyday!
@disneybaby84, I don't know what the back pain is, but I had sharp spasms in my lower back that took my breath away on and off for about a week around 35 weeks. Still pregnant at 38+4, and the spasms are gone. I wondered if my baby just positioned herself in a way that triggered the pain and has since moved.
Sorta Labor Related... Anyone else thinking of putting off Hep B post birth?? Not at all anti-vax, but I'm thinking of skipping the Hep B till Pedi Office later in the week because from the info I've found on it=its pushed in the hospital more because they dont trust you'll actually follow through and get the vax later, and to cover for the ppl who arent honest about having the virus already. And the hospital wants the money from the state for giving it. Anyone have different information??
Also skipping the eye drops. I read a couple articles by nurses that say there isn't any research showing that it helps prevents any infection like some ppl claim..., just for moms that have chlamydia or gonorrhea. ?? Anyone else have better info??

It is an antibiotic ointment used to prevent a pink eye infection that may cause blindness in a very small of percententage (something like 3% of those infected) of babies. The infection itself is specific to babies delivered by mothers that are infected with chlamydia or gonorrhea.
@kjd291 when I was in the hospital one of the nurses recommended I wait to have tyler get the hepatitis b vax until I went to the peds office. She said that since he was preemie and on antibiotics for possible group b strep ( I wasn't able to be tested before I had him) we could wait. When we had our first appt the peds office thought that was really weird and said those things shouldn't have made a difference. The nurse was so upset to give him his shot because he was so little. So not sure what benefits there are in waiting/not waiting. We only waited because I thought the nurse made sense in the hospital
Also Hep B is contracted the same way HIV is. If you are worried about your baby coming into contact with someone that has it or you yourself has it; I would absolutely recommend getting the vaccine. Outside of that I think it's one of the safer ones to delay.
Thanks @DizzyMom & @korpisar - I didn't do any research about them last go around-I just let them do all of it without looking into it. So I'm surprised to find it's really not necessary and feel more comfortable skipping and/delaying them.
@kjd291 ... I'm so glad you brought this up! I am not foregoing the hep B shot because my FIL is our pediatrician and don't feel like hearing it. I do request that it be administered while I'm holding the baby, as well as the vitamin K shot.
I didn't get the eye ointment with my son and everything was fine and I'm wondering what to do this round. My only hesitation to get it is because I posted months back about it and being aware of your options at birth and someone wrote a nasty response saying it is necessary and she didn't have it administered on one of her children and s/he got a bad infection etc. It made me double think my options... but I am 100% confident I don't have the STDs...

Hi, ladies! Not a super active contributor, but wanted to check in since my WATER broke this morning at 4am! Gotta love it, day 1 of my vacation. My original due date was 3/1/17, and I'm 39 weeks tomorrow, so not too early, but it's looking like a February baby after all.
No contractions, so there going to start me on misoprosol after I eat lunch. Kind of a lot nervous. I want to avoid a c section because I keloid. Happy, contracting thoughts are appreciated!!
Goodluck @jomarma ! Don't worry about the CS yet, your docs know what they're doing to get things rolling-sending happy contracting thoughts! How exciting you get to meet your little one soon!
@disneybaby84 I have heard anything about this but I really hope that it isn't true!! My mom went a week over with both me and my brother! Someone please say this is BS!
@disneybaby84 only thing I'd seen about that recently was that there is no good research on it because precise ultrasound dating wasn't around for them like it was for us... so their dates could have been off much more than ours are.
I sincerely hope there's no correlation @disneybaby84! My mom was 2 weeks late with me and in labor for about 30 hours....keeping my fingers crossed this LO is not as stubborn of a baby as I was!
@disneybaby84 I know you asked this yesterday, but I'm just seeing this now. I was getting sharp pains in my back that reminded me of pre period back pain while I was in the hospital on bed rest. I asked the nurses/doctors about it because it was irritating and they said that one of the babies probably moved into a position where he was occasionally pressing on a nerve.
As for correlation to my mom's labor and mine... I went 6 weeks early and she was late with all 3 of us, so I'm not sure that it is correlated.

1. I did the hep B shot at the first pediatrician appt...I felt like I wanted the first two days as peaceful as possible, and so many other uncomfortable things were happening to my guy.
2. I didn't think the eye ointment was worth the fight tbh. I just asked them to wait until after an hour of skin to skin. (actually I asked them to wait on everything until after an hour skin to skin)
Kind of labour related.. but is anyone delaying cord clamping? My midwife asked me and I told her I haven't had the chance to think about my plans yet but seems like a beneficial thing to do. I didn't with my DD, I was never asked nor did I have as much knowledge as I do now about making these choices. Curious what everyone else's plans are regarding cord clamping!

What about length of labor, anyone know any relationship with your mom's length of labor with you versus with your baby?
