Hey ladies! Sorry I didnt post yesterday. I think I had the flu... I was knocked out for most of the day... Still no AF! I took a dollar store pregnancy test and it was a BFN. But I read low levels of HCG are not detectable in dollarstore test.. so Im going to take a first response tonight.. I cant take it anymore!

@funkykey LOVE your post!!! My IUI was the same day as yours.

@pawcall - holy, he told his boss and talked about time off in October?! WHAT?! Hahaha. That is extreme! Some friends of ours announced their pregnancy last week... she wasn't even 6 weeks pregnant. I was like: "WHAT?!" There is no way we are telling anyone that early.

I hear you on the dread though. I had this feeling yesterday, like: "Oh god, I'm not pregnant." And then I stayed on the couch last night and watched trashy TV - I even kicked DH out because I didn't want to hear his comments on the new "Riverdale" series on Netflix (I loved both episodes, DH not so much.) It totally helped - I shouldn't even be working right now, this last bit of the TWW is so agonizing. I should just be on the couch, eating bon bons and watching KUWTK.

That said, I really don't think you're being selfish at all for doing this, nor do I think you're being selfish when you're sad it's not working (If it was your 9th, maybe... but hardly your second). Sounds like you are a good mom to little 6. Also sounds like this next baby, when it comes, will be very, very wanted - your FI is so keen! All babies should be so wanted!

@Momifbysea Isn't it annoying when AF starts and stops? It's like, "helloo... I know you're hiding in there... just get on with it!!"
I totally get the impatience re: IVF. We live in a state with coverage but may be moving in 1.5 years... so definitely understand not wanting to push IVF off.

@pawcall Thanks. This was our second IUI. Now moving onto IVF if our insurance will permit it. I'm taking this cycle off, then March will be spent on birth control, and April on the IVF.

It might be a bit soon, but I broke down and took an HPT - 10dpo, and about the biggest negative I've ever seen. BFN - definitely not even a hint of a second while line.

Shucks. Poured myself big glass of wine after; it is a shallow consolation.

I tested this morning too, I reasoned that I wanted to take some excedrin and wouldn't do it if I were pregnant. 11dpo and glaring white BFN. I know there's still a chance, I just feel like I'm out.

@pawcall - ugh. You and me both. This is something I wish very much we weren't twins in. DH keeps being like: "there's still a chance" and I'm like: "Baby, it was so, so white."

I know you are really busy with your DS and FI and all, but I hope you have access to an evening out, or, at the very least, something you can't do pregnant. Excedrin works, but way less fun than a hot tub, alcohol, or retinol facial treatments.

Ladies its a BFN for me. AF showed her nasty face this morning. I hate this. I really felt good about this cycle. Im not sure if we are going to try IUI again or go straight to IVF. This TWW is the worse. Thanks for being there ladies. It certainly feels better knowing Im not alone.

@funkykey - yup, that looks about right. I took an absurdly hot shower, the kind that comes thisclose to scalding your skin off. That's as crazy as things get around here these days.

I have a bottle of wine in the fridge that I'll pop open as soon as AF shows up. I just hate this.

I also feel like, what if this never works? IUI doesn't work for everyone. And IUI is the end of the road for us - we have no coverage for IVF and with 6's medical stuff, really no budget for self-paid IVF.

@pawcall - Ugh. Well, let's try to remember, the success rates peak at about 3 IUIs. I kept thinking if this didn't work, we might take a break next month, because I am (first slowly, now quickly) losing my mind. But now that I have a BFN, I'm like: "how soon can we hit this again?"

I know - IVF is daunting on all levels. And when you have bills already... I hope your next IUI works, or the one after, or even this one - that it was just too early to test.

Totally. When we did the IUI, I was like, omg I don't even know if I can do this again right away. For me, it was physically painful but also it's been an emotional nightmare. Worse somehow than the previous year of BFN's. But now that I'm pretty sure I'm out, I'm like, OK let's get a move on for #2.

I'm so sorry guys. Ugh. But like you said, @pawcall, kind of amazing how we pull ourselves together and gear up to go through it (or whatever next step) yet again...

So far we have 3 BFPs out of 13 reported IUI cycles, using @funkykey 's handy spreadsheet. 23% success rate. That is actually not bad, low as it sounds. I'm honestly kind of surprised.

I'm pretty positive I'm out now. I had some spotting tonight and was like, F it, I cracked open my bottle of wine with dinner. I fully expect AF in full force by morning.

This sucks. It's early (I don't expect AF until Sunday) which just feels like it's adding insult to injury. And worse (okay maybe not WORSE), I am now just waiting for people to ask if it worked. My mom, two close friends, and little 6's nurse (he has a nurse with him about 50h a week) all know that we did the IUI. Zero percent chance that all four of them will have common sense and not question me about it. My mom already called me A WEEK AGO to ask if I "had any great news yet". Yes mom. I have great news at 5dpo.

Hi guys. I am very sorry that this month is ending with BFN s , it has started so well! I will be testing Friday evening as I don't want to test earlier and be crying at work as last time. We have already planned a trip for this weekend just me and my H so I can cry. Just in case. And get it all out before the week starts.

" with a thumbs down. He texted back with NO IDEA what i was talking about. Seriously?

Do you guys feel like your partners just... forget? It's all I can think about, all the time, no matter what else I'm doing it's on my mind. He's just *so sure* it will work, the thought of it not working isn't even a blip on his radar.

@Cinnamonn - your post made me laugh out loud. I don't smoke either, but the thought of having a cigarette - haha. Ugh. I'm so sorry about the BFN; when I had mine, I actually drank a whole bottle of wine over the course of the evening - my first big consolation glass turned into several, and DH made a big bolognese. Highly recommended!

@pawcall - damn. I've not been open IRL that we're doing this, except with my sister. A lot of people, I've found, say really (well-meaning if) insensitive things when they find out you're having problems, and I just don't want to get into any fights - I don't want to snap at someone that "relaxing is not a medical technique" or lose it when someone tells me: "how odd, we got pregnant when we just looked at each other!"

Anyway, my BIL is convinced (he told my sister) that we're just testing too early. DH too. And maybe they're right, but I've been down that road of hope before, and it took me no where.

Sounds like your FI is really, really convinced that it'd work, if he read your text like that! What?! Hahaha. Oh man. But also - if I'd been so optimistic, it might feel like a slap across the face. Ouch.

Because we live together, DH never forgets that this is on my mind. He sees me chatting on the forums, he sees my old test sticks in the garbage, he hears me weeping and sees me guzzling chardonnay. This was the first month that he's calculated possible due dates with me and made mental notes about the time of year, so I think he's in a bit of denial that I'm not KU-ed. Anyway, I hope this BFN brings you two closer together; maybe next time your FI will be a little more measured in his optimism?

Ok so the roller coaster ride continues...so yesterday mid morning was bright red blood when I used bathroom, which is when I used a tampon, called to schedule IVF bloodwork. Was swamped all day with work so removed tampon around 8pm and no red, barely any brown. And today so far, nothing, clear white liner, nothing when wiping. I'm so scared to hope again. I've always started my period day 17 past ovulation and this is that day. I'm going to go buy some more tests when I pick up the new Femara this afternoon. If it starts again then this is just a cruel back and forth mentally!

@Cinnamonn sorry to hear about your bfn. Whether you do another IUI or IVF I'm glad you'll have a plan and know you're doing everything you can.

@Londonsmom and @funkykey I was hoping maybe it was just early for you, too. I'm sorry for the bfn's but will see you over on the feb IUI thread. This month started out so great with those bfp's, still gives me hope for all of us!

@pawcall I'm sorry, DH definitely doesn't get it either. He always tells me to stop testing early but I can't help it. He doesn't understand the need to pee on everything in sight lol I'm sorry for the BFN

Hey Ladies! Can i just vent for a minute! My husband has the audacity to call me to say even though AF showed up, I read you still might be pregnant.. Listen here SIR! I have been sad, dusted myself off and I'm ready for IUI #2. I don't want to talk about the what-ifs.. As far as I'm concerned I'm not pregnant. He then went on to say but.. you had all the early signs of pregnancy.. I said but I'm not. Is anyone's DH in Denial?

@Londonsmom my husband does this all the time ugh! One month he must've asked every day of TWW if I felt pregnant. I was ready to strangle him and told him he needed to back off. Even when I say I feel PMS symptoms he's all "pms symptoms are pregnancy symptoms". I know he's just trying to be supportive but he just doesn't get it.

@Londonsmom My DH does this all the time, too. It kind of shocked me the first few months but now I laugh it off. Like you said, he has the audacity to presume he knows my body better than me. I'll be two days into AF, and he'll be like, "but maybe it's implantation bleeding?" Uh, NO, it's not implantation bleeding. I'm the one who's been menstruating for a gazillion years, not DH. You'd think he'd respect the experience

Ohhhhh, those poor DHs/partners.
