I need to rant it out. DH's best friend just became a dad. His GF got KU in one of those "Oh, you're breaking up with me? Well I'm pregnant!" kind of situations. Like she skipped one pill and got KU. She's godawful- she was so nasty and rude to me the first time I met her. My husband's friend is a really nice guy, though. My husband wants me to call to congratulate them and he's not understanding that I just don't want to. A) She's the worst. B.) She used her pregnancy to trap him. C) I don't want to have to answer any questions about when we'll be joining them (DH is the only non-dad in his little group... also the only married one, but that's a story for another day). I'm sure if he puts her on the phone there will be plenty of snide remarks about how she has two kids and I don't even have one. I know I'll have to be a grown up and do it, but I really just don't want to.

@jsnakehole wow. What an incredibly messed up thing to do. I don't know if this is something that would help you, but it would definitely help me...I wouldn't want to be KU the way she was. It would not make me happy or feel good to use a baby as a trap. As badly as I want my own BFP, I'd still rather not be in her situation.
I totally get how frustrating it is though. Someone using a baby against another person gets KU immediately and others who want children for the right reasons have to wait and do so much. The world is unfair sometimes. But at least you're not her, that's so...insane.

"Yep! And that means I get twice as much sleep and wine as you do, "
@jsnakehole like @antoto said just brag about all the sleep you're getting. Kidding, I agree that you need to protect yourself, don't talk to that crazy, your husband can call.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@BertieMeetsGertie They are leggings with a built in skirt! I just saw them on Zulily and Amazon.

Thanks, everyone. It's nice to know that I'm not just being super selfish by not wanting to call. I might text the guy to say congrats and throw in that I know how busy they must be so I don't want to take up their time with a call. I know it's important to my husband that I extend olive branches to his friends, so I feel like this is a good compromise. And my husband can send a gift (she's one of those 'my daughter will never wear pink!' types...which makes me so tempted to send some frilly pink dresses).
@NYTino24 I don't know how I feel about that. I love the comfort of leggings, and a skirt to make them dressier? That kind of sounds like something I would be into, but I'm not sure.

@jsnakehole He can send a card himself! No need to associate with people like that, even if it's DH's friend's GF.

Usually when I do something like this I go all out. Lots and lots of options and everything made from scratch. Like last year I even made the BBQ sauce from scratch.
Today I'm all pre-purchased and throwing stuff in crock pot.

@jsnakehole I am late to the party but I agree with PP, protect your heart and sanity. DH can call and say congrats for both of you or you can just send a text. That's probably what I would do. Also, go for it, send the most girly pink frilly dress you can find!
@NYTino24 I need a picture of these skirted leggings...
You know how I said I'm phoning in my Super Bowl party. Good thing. I just found one:
we just got a text from someone saying that they were bringing 2 trays of chicken parm to "contribute". Note that the invite said if you felt compelled to bring something, bring booze.
we just go a text from another couple saying "we're really in the mood for tacos, so we're going to go to the taco place down the street. Count us out for food".
one couple just backed out
If I made all this stuff from scratch and then these people backed out/decided to eat elsewhere, I would have been really annoyed. We're also going to have way too much food. We had plenty of food before the 2 trays of chicken parm. But whatever, I'm so glad I spent $200 at the grocery store for a bunch of stuff that won't get eaten.

@jsnakehole Ugh, that is the worst! Sorry you have to deal with that.
I agree with PPs though -- you aren't obligated to do stuff like this if you know it's going to end this way. You'll get there eventually, but if it's too hard in the meantime...
Oh my goodness, my DH just made a great point...and it was pretty adorable. I am not a fan of the Super Bowl because I don't like football. But I do watch the commercials.
The Super Bowl babies commercial came on (they started doing it a few years ago) and DH said..."hey, we could have a Super Bowl baby"
I am 99% certain I will O today or tomorrow. Crossing my fingers so bad right now for a Super Bowl baby!!!!!
Random and sorry to be vague about this but I'm so upset right now, MILs can be the worst and so selfish!! I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful relationship with your MIL and zero percent like the one I have with mine.
