  • Has anyone been monitoring their resting heart rate on fitbit? I know it's supposed to raise about 15 beats while you're pregnant, but mine has plateaued for a long time now, and has started going down which really freaks out my PGAL brain, and my next ultrasound isn't till Friday. Any thoughts on if this seems normal or if it should be a cause for concern?

Mine has only raised five and actually lowered one the last couple of days. I have actually considered turning of the heart rate on mine bc I over analyze it.
  • It's so easy to over analyze everything!  My heart rate overall has increased a bit, but my resting is still pretty low.

Normally my resting heart rate is 50. Since I found out I'm pregnant it's gone to about 63. I definitely notice my heart rate is easily elevated. Just walking up the stairs today I was at 110! Yikes!

I woke up this morning and my resting heart rate had fallen 2 beats overnight from 75 to 73. My PGAL brain is seriously freaking out now, and combined with my hormones I can't stop crying. I emailed my RE to see what she thinks, but I'm just really really worried.
I know I'm probably overreacting and jumping the gun, but I can't stop thinking about it.
  • I've had so few symptoms it's worrying me. With DS I had a very easy pregnancy so I'm reminding myself of that. Last night I realized it was 10:30 and I was still awake reading instead of passing out early which stressed me out. Then I couldn't sleep so now I'm tired. Dating US is today so I'm really hoping it goes well

  • @heatherwilson321 I know it is hard not to freak out but you need to stay positive. Trust in your body that it knows what to do.
  • @heatherwilson321 Just my two cents and obviously you can take them or leave them but I would stop tracking HR at this point. A decrease of 2 is literally nothing. It is merely an iota. A resting heart rate typically drops significantly when asleep. I have tachycardia so it is an extreme example but my resting HR has varied over 100bpm in the past week alone. I think you're likely getting more stressed out by seeing it and should stop tracking. I hope you are feeling more confident today.

@MyNamesTaken Good luck today! I have insomnia. It's the pits. Fx you can sneak in a nap!
  • So many losses here the past couple of days :( it's starting to shake me a little.

  • @heatherwilson321 FWIW, I've heard that the fitbit heart rate monitors are not the most sensitive things in the world. There have been concerns voice (generally, not just during pregnancy) that these might be cause for more unnecessary concerns and misdiagnoses than benefits of their use. Just a word of caution not to worry too much about it.

My PGAL brain is rough this week. With my last pregnancy, I had some light cramping from about weeks 4-6, when everything was still looking OK (MC at 8w missed until symptoms at 12w). Now I have cramping, but it's less than I recall the last time. So part of me is all "It's a good sign, this was one of my only symptoms last time, everything's going OK." And the other part of me is all "Well it's not like things worked out last time, maybe it isn't a good sign this time either, and they're weaker this time too!." Ugh, brain! Just chill! I know I'm still really early, but like the rest of you, I want ALL THE SYMPTOMS! I'm just trying to remind myself that each pregnancy is different and keeping hope that this one is different for all the right reasons.

  • I actually ran into the bathroom, dry heaved for five minutes, walked back into the kitchen the the concerned faces of my fiancé and DD and said "Is dinner ready? Oh look! You got me pudding!" Looks went from concern for my wellbeing to concern for my mental state.

I'm thinking all of that is a good sign.

  • Also having nerves with all the losses and my heart goes out to everyone.

U/s in the late afternoon. It's going to be a long day.
  • Well my doc just called and told me I had to be tested by the high risk doctors for the Zika virus and if it's positive I have to be monitored with ultrasounds every 3-4 weeks for microcephaly and other neurological abnormalities. No big deal just even more to worry about  :(
  • @lahearn18 so excited for you! I hope you are really able to enjoy this time. It goes by so fast! Positive thoughts only!!!

@lap018 where do you live? Why are they monitoring you for Zika? FX it will be a non issue for you!!!

So I am a STM and suffered a loss in Sept '15. I have to say, it's definitely stressful these first few months after a loss, but I'll also let you all know that with my first DD I had similar fears. Waiting for every appointment, hoping the baby had grown, seeing a heartbeat, no abnormalities, etc. I think the point I'm trying to get at is, I know it's so hard to stay positive when you're constantly wondering and worrying, but try and remain calm! Stressing and worrying will do no one any good. Try to enjoy each day. Thinking of all of you ladies and paying for all of us to have H&H 9 months.

Right, wouldn't it be better to test him? That way you find out if YOU need you be tested, and if you can have unprotected sex?

  • Im going to ask them about him getting tested but right now it is already established that we are having sex with condoms and right now their major concern is if I have it does the baby have it, if I'm positive I'll have to go in for ultrasounds every 3-4 weeks and maybe have to do an amniocentesis but I am going let them know that my husband will be getting tested as well whether I'm positive or not so that it will help with my mental distress!
  • @lap018 definitely understand the precautions! I'd want the peace of mind too!

  • @lap018 ugh...what a pain in the arse and added stress! I can only imagine...I got bit by a fuggin mosquito here in Houston last week and that was enough to make me spaz. Thankfully no mosquito cases here (yet) but still freaks me out!!
    Hope y'all are both negative!

  • @lap018  I hope all is with yall! That has to be scary! I live in Florida, but no longer in south florida (where the Zika risk is) but I am going to be covered in mosquito spray all spring/summer.
  • @lahearn18 We're heading to Orlando in a couple weeks. From what I could tell, that's out of the danger zone but I'm still packing soooo much big spray! Are there many mosquitoes this time of year? I've never been there
    Lilypie Maternity tickers
  • @MyNamesTaken  Orlando is in the clear. It is in the Miami Dade County area where the Zika virus is, and that is about 4hrs south of Orlando. The mosquitoes are always around honestly, if we get rain and the weather warms up, boom mosquitoes, but then the temps will drop back down & they die. They aren't really that many this time of year comparatively, but I would still wear the family friendly (not as pungent) variety of bug spray just to ease your worries. I live on the Panhandle now.
  • @MyNamesTaken I'm betting that Florida is like Texas on the skeeter front. We've had up and down temps...pretty warm here this week...and I've gotten bit once in the past few days. I also had a few bites this time last year too...but generally I think it's more Spring.

  • @Texafornian you are absolutely right! i was in the yard a few weeks ago puling up some dead plants and i came back inside with 6 bites, but it was randomly almost 80 degrees that day and had rained a few days before. But i havent seen any lately as the temps came back down.
  • Thanks @lahearn18 and @Texafornian! I was hoping to get to Miami but we nixed that idea quickly. I'm staring at the snow piling up outside my window so I'll just be happy to be by a pool and see the sun. It feels like it's been weeks since it's been sunny up here!
