@CCNellans - I love Evelyn! Great name My vote would be Macon for the middle. It's a cool name, and I love the family connection. I prefer when middle names are meaningful. I'm assuming it's pronounced like the city (Macon, GA)?

I'm super late to the name party. I guess bc we are team green. You ladies have some great names. I particularly like Hudson and Harrison.
I'm a big fan of family names. I like a name that has roots.
We're thinking about the following girl names: - Merritt Elise - Merritt Rose - Lillian Merritt
Merritt is MIL's maiden name. Elise is my mom's name. Rose is my grandma's middle name.
For a boy: - Parker (not sure about middle name) My grandma's maiden name. - Steven (not sure about middle name) DH's deceased uncle that FIL was very close.
@clebl24 I really like Merritt Rose and Lillian Merritt for your girl names. Love the family meaning too! for the boys, I'm partial to Steven! also, SKZW's idea of Merritt for a middle name is good! good luck with choosing
We are having a girl and the names I like weird a lot of people out.
I love Frankie, Lenny and Lou as first names. Thinking I want a two syllable first name so Lou could be a likely middle name.
Partner hates Frankie which has been a fav of mine since before I was pregnant, but we are in the seemingly common situation of partner shutting down names but has yet to suggest one. He's come around on Lenny but prefers the spelling Leni and I'm not a fan of that.
I've been a lurker on this thread and am finally able to say I want to throw DH under a bridge when it comes to naming our twin girls. Our 9mo was easy because he had to have DHs initials (which I agreed upon very early in our child naming discussions). These ladies are another story. I want family names to be incorporated. He doesn't care. He always says "oh, maybe!" When I mention a name. I've dropped the discussion lately, hoping he will bring up some he likes...but that hasn't happened yet. Thanks for hearing me out:) I'll be back, hopefully with good news!!
@joecapeles: Julian Joseph would be nice! I can't suggest any other MNs b/c I can't come up with any for my little guy either
@laurapalmier: I highly suggest you stick with what you like! Those name choices are different but they're not "weird" or "out there" or any sort of made-up names (like, you-neek!). Are you thinking of something like Louise nn Lou? Also, I'm firmly planted in the camp of Don't tell anyone the names you're considering (beyond your mate) because humans like to be contrary and have something to complain about, lol, and will always find some downside to your name options. I mean people in your real life---definitely take them for a spin here, though, and people will be honest! With our son, we introduced him after he was born, with his name, which we actually only decided after he was born, and people can't/shouldn't complain about a baby's name when they meet him.
@Bear0408: A suggestion that's been given on this thread before (that you might have already read): Give your hubbs a list of the SSA top 1000 names from last year (a printout or send him the link) and ask him to circle or write down his top 20. You can see if any of yours and his match, and go from there in narrowing the field. Or, if he picks 20 that are completely off the table for you, at least you have a starting point at which to see where he's coming from in terms of styles of names, and chat from that point forward. Good luck!
@clebl24 I love the family connections you have and would definitely use Merritt as the first name with eaither of your middle name options.
@laurapalmierI love the spelling Leni (I feel like it's a bit more feminine)
@Bear0408 I feel the exact same way about DH. He has suggested a few names that I liked when they were first suggested but for one reason or another have decided against and he is totally set on them. We've decided to stop discussing the name for a little while.
@laurapalmer stay true to what you like regardless of outside opinion. I'm partial to Lou but that's (edited) my Aunts name. I believe middle name is Jean (not sure on the middle name spelling).
@joecapeles I like Julian Joseph; might suggest Michael or Andrew. not very good with the name thing. best of luck and I really like the first name
@Bear0408 good luck!!! like PP definitely make a list for him to look at and maybe ask for one also. I love the idea of family names, so maybe make your list and put some combinations together for him to test the flow and sound.
@SKZW I thought of Louise nn Lou but realized I really prefer Lou and don't care that much for Louise. Had also thought of Frances nn Frankie but I'm not fond of Frances. My partner's grandma who passed last year was named Louise and I do think of it as a sort of homage to her
@SKZW I agree about not wanting to tell other people (in "real life") the name until the baby is born. We've actually been very secretive about our top name choice in general, but I especially don't want to share it with friends or family. It's not a common name, and I've never met someone named it, so we really don't want anyone telling us it's too weird. We absolutely love it. And like you said, if people don't find out until the baby is named, they'll likely keep their comments to themselves.
@KMD1106 I think Lewis goes well. I love Isaiah too though.
Also I think we have a name but it's not certain and I don't think we will tell family. Sloane Katherine. It was my favorite for years and I'm really surprised he is on board.

I love Sloane! I've liked it since I first heard it on Entourage!

I love Sloane. It would have been on my list if this kid were a girl. A former coworker of mine has two girls named Logan and Sloane. I love their names.
We decided way before we knew what we were having! We are having a boy, his name is Ronin James. (If we were having a girl, it was gonna be Lily Evelyn.) So we're keepin it in reserve for our first girl.
@WombThereItIs , I love Sloane! We briefly considered it but eventually decided to stay away from S names because our son's name starts with an S and I refer to him as S all of the time.
@clebl24 , I love Merritt as a first name! I think Lillian is super pretty, too, but definitely more common.
For those still battling with DH on names, we went through a period where he just seemed "eh..." on every name I suggested. So I just stopped suggesting names, told him what my top choice was, and asked him to live with it mentally for a few weeks. After the few weeks was up, I sent him the SSA list and told him to let me know if anything jumped out at him because I was done spinning my wheels. Lo and behold, we ended up with my top choice in names!
We have full on released baby girl's name and if feels SO GOOD. With my son, we only told a few people (close friends and family) and I think, because they didn't think it was "finalized" we got a lot of contrary opinions. I guess it's probably because it was usually phrased like "we're pretty sure we're going with Sullivan", which would frequently be met with "but what other names are you considering..." So, when he was born and we actually had to release the name to everyone else, it felt a little awkward. Like, I was suddenly unsure about it because of all of the comments, but not because I loved it any less. Anyway...this go around, we've told anyone that's asked that we are naming her Estelle and I think because it seems more "final", ZERO negative comments! Not like I would care anyway...
Sloane! H and I both love it, but aren't using it. We are tossing around the idea of a 2nd middle name for Lennon Grace, but haven't found anything. We had settled on Henry for a boy, and I'd like to nail down the middle name (either Archer or Hudson or maybe even James?), but H refuses to discuss because he is 100% sure baby is a girl. I think it is too, but...
That's what I assumed, and I still very much vote for Macon! Marie is a beautiful middle name as well, although it's my middle name and I never really felt much for it- it seems like a "default" middle name for a lot of people. To me, the middle name is the time to either (1) honor family and/or (2) get crazy with something meaningful.

@Kipperoo Releasing the baby name to everyone does it make so final! But it DOES feel so good, like people will stop bothering you!
With DD1 we released it pretty much as soon as we knew she was a girl because we had already decided her name was Halle after my grandpa Hal. So we wanted to be able to tell him and I didn't care what anyone's opinion was on the name! With DD2 it took us a little while longer to release the name and once we decided on Paige I think we only told immediate family/friends and then released it fully when she arrived. This time, EVERYONE has an opinion and it's driving me nuts. We always do a middle name after a family member so I think people are a little anxious to see who it will be since DD1 and DD2 were both my side of the family. We have told people that we have a middle name picked out and we have a pretty small list of first names but we aren't telling them until we decide. I really don't want DHs opinion swayed by his mother and she won't hold back on opinions!

@nda_roxybabe As someone with two middle names, I wouldn't suggest it! When I got married I really wanted to keep my last name (my dad is the only son and we are the last with that name) but I also wanted to just take my husbands name. So I kept my maiden name as a second middle name. It is such a pain. There is never enough room for both middle names and most forms ask for a middle initial- so do you put both initials or just the first one?! Lennon Grace is so cute as is! For a boy I vote Henry James! But at least you have the first name nailed down!

@nda_roxybabe I am on the opposite end of @h&pmomma. All of our kids will have two middle names, however their second middle name is my mother's maiden name which I took as my middle name when I got married. MH and I did this because we have a very Caucasian last name and I am full Hispanic, with this name in their name it with be easier for our kids to prove their Hispanic heritage for college scholarships.

I totally get and love the meaning behind it, because I kept mine to honor my family too! But the documents, paperwork, etc. make it a hassle!

@kayemjay2 Thank you! I wanted common but not super common names, people will recognize the names but their probably won't be another one of them in their class! Plus as a teacher, I tried to pick names that I hadn't had a student with yet, which is super hard! And that's why picking a boy name is SO hard. Lol

@h&pmomma we haven't had trouble filling out any paperwork for her, mostly because I don't include the second name.
M we did however find out that her second middle name was actually added as her last name when trying to do our taxes. So I have to legally have her name changed. We still fill everything out with how her name is supposed to be and don't use the second middle name.

I feel you. I didn't want to lose my maiden name, but I also wanted my husband's, so I have two last names. It's honestly a pain sometimes. People never understand there's just a space between the two. No, there's not a hyphen, and no, it's not one word. I didn't realize when I decided to do it how much of a pain it'd be. Sometimes I just give my husband's last name for ease. But for anything medical or anything that requires my ID, I use both, and it's always mushed together on their end...because apparently it's impossible to enter two separate last names. Not to mention, it had to be hyphenated on my license, even though legally it's not. That was a while big thing. Anyways, I'm rambling. We're just going to use the one last name for our kids.
