Ok, I'll go, my UO- I find maternity pants ridiculously uncomfortable. They always slide down and bunch up my underwear, and they're just the worst.

I hate the full belly panel pants. Why would I want an elastic band over my belly? Especially towards the end when I can't breathe anyways because there are feet in my lungs!

But seriously, you should try the new side panel maternity pants from Target. I love love love them. It's like regular jeans! They even button and zip!

I hate winter. I hate jackets/boots/scarves/long sleeves/etc. I hate snow/ice/rainy season. Bring me 100° days and summer! I'd rather be sweating in a tank top and shorts.

@h&pmomma: I don't adore winter here in Mass, but playing devil's advocate, I much prefer winter to summer. In the cold, you can always warm up: Put on a sweater, cuddle in a blanket, have a hot drink, do some pushups... But when you're sweltering, there's zero relief! All you can do is sit around, not moving, hiding in the A/C!

This may be a FFFC, but I'm going to post it anyway. We're Team Green and I really don't care either way if this baby is a boy or a girl. Sure it would be nice for DD to have a little sister close in age, but it would also be fun to have a boy for the "other" experience.

We have friend's who when pregnant with #2 and asked what they wanted, said "we don't care, we already have our boy." This answer really rubbed me the wrong way. I understand that societally, a boy first is what most people want, but to say that it doesn't matter because you already have one, just makes me kind of sick.

My OU: I LOVE Excel and use it in my personal life as much as I do at work. Learning something new in it makes my day.

@achays11 That would completely bother me too! I understand not feeling strongly for one or there other, but it sounds like the second baby just doesn't matter. Also I guess I didn't know that a boy first was what most people wanted.

@h&pmomma I am with you on not being a fan of winter. Although I do love buying coats. I also kinda hate over hot weather. I just could deal without the extremes. Moderate temps are my fav!

@Squirtgun Last time I loved them, this time I fluctuate between love and hate. I must say I do not understand how the underbelly works though. How do they defy gravity? It seems like it has to be so tight to stay there.

See, that's exactly why I hate winter. I don't want to worry about putting on a jacket or scarf or bundling my kids up just to go to the store! In the summer, there's no worry about putting a jacket on, taking it off before the car seat, putting in back when you get to the place and then having to lug around the jacket inside because the heaters on.

In the summer, you stay in the shade/pool/inside and you wear one layer! It's just so much simpler!

I HATE it. Lol But I think because I didn't really grow up with the multiple layers or winter temps below 50° and now that I have to bundle my kids up it's just annoying and time consuming!

Full panel pants fo' lyfe! Seriously, I never want to go back to regular pants. I feel like I'm sneakily wearing yoga pants while at work. It's the best. I also feel like they nicely shape my bump.

Also, @achays11, I completely agree. We did not have a preference one way or the other with this kiddo. I did get a few comments the first time around (when we were Team Green) from people saying they hoped it was a boy to "carry on the family name." I mean, if it was a girl, we would've had at least 16 years to save up her dowry and find a good man to care for her sweet delicate self. I'm glad we have a boy now though, so he can assume the throne should my husband become unable.

@h&pmomma What is not to love about chasing down toddlers trying to force their little hands into mittens, that will only be on until you get them into the car and promptly will turn into projectiles? Fun times!

@Louise_Belcher I, too, LOOOOOVE Excel. I do everything in Excel. It's the best Office program by far.

My UO is a personal one--not something I believe every person should also agree with, (sparked by a conversation in another thread about pregnancy books)--I don't see childbirth as anything BUT a medical procedure. While I agree that it's a pretty incredible thing that our bodies can grow and expel a fully grown human and I'm really glad my body has held up and let me experience it, I look at the birthing process as a means to an end and the evolution of birthing practices as part of the medical and social advancements that have taken place over the existence of man. I have no interest in experiencing more pain or labor than is medically necessary and I have great trust in the medical professionals that will be guiding me through the experience. That said, I also believe that everyone has a right to decide how they want to handle their birthing experience, because it's no walk in the park and you should feel comfortable with your plan.

@Kipperoo - YES. I couldn't agree more. Childbirth is 100% a medical procedure. Yes, it's a "natural" process, but nature isn't perfect. Many medical issues are "natural"...that does not mean we should step back and let them run their course. The medical field is amazing and has come so far in being able to address the myriad issues which may arise and threaten mom and/or baby. I intend to take full advantage of that.

Amen. As we've evolved, we can have our "natural" (god I hate that word) experience within the presence of a medical professional or at a medical center. You can do you with as much pain as you want and not die from an unexpected hemorrhage during a home birth.

My UO is that so far, I'm not minding the sex (boy or girl) comments. Every time I tell someone we are having a boy, they say "How cool. You'll have one of each!" Yes. That is cool. It's cool that I could have had 2 DDs too, which I think they'd say if that were the case. And its definitely the health of the kid that's most important. But I'm not offended that ppl say that. I think they are just looking for something to celebrate either way.

@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot - The comments wouldn't bug me, except that I very rarely get genuinely happy comments about having 2 boys. People usually either talk about how I'll "have my hands full" with 2 boys (because all girls are a walk in the park apparently) or talk about hoping I'll have a girl in the future. Maybe it's just the people I encounter, or maybe it's the double-boy thing, but I would appreciate more emphasis on how awesome having brothers will be.

@kayemjay2 I feel you on that- I always got the same thing about two girls- "oh you'll have your hands full" "oh, just wait until they're teenagers!" "Wow! Two girls! That's a lot of estrogen!" The best one, though "oh, she won't like being a big sister." Ok, random stranger, that's perfect. Thanks.

now that #3 is a boy it's all "oh, that's great! Now you'll have both!" "Oh, good, now you don't have to have more!" "Oh, I'm glad this one's not a girl too!"

Um... Ok then. My brother has 5 girls, and I'd be thrilled with 5 girls too! I'm thrilled with the three I've got now, but I'd be just as happy if he were a girl!

@Kipperoo - YES. Years ago at work, one of our male colleague had the nerve to ask a pregnant colleague if she was planning a "natural" birth. She responded, "You know what no one ever asks? If you're going to have a 'natural' appendectomy." And then she told him to STFU.

Call me team hospital for the birth. I don't get why people say it is "not a medical event." A large being is coming out of my vagina, potentially ripping me to shreds, potentially getting stuck, and potentially killing me.
Isn't saying it isn't a medical event because we as women have been having babies not in hospitals for thousands of years similar to saying that polio isn't a medical event because people got polio previously and didn't die? (Maybe not the best analogy, but you know what I mean).

Also team I love all seasons. There is something special to me about every single season, but they seem to last too long. About halfway through I'm ready for the next one.

Birth is definitely a medical event IMO. So many things could go wrong. Same with an appendectomy, I wouldn't do that at home either, as so many things could go wrong. I totally see how childbirth is more 'natural' than an appendectomy, absolutely. But the risk of what could go wrong is where the 'medical event' ultimately exists for me. So for that, I'm Team Hospital. That's after having almost been Team Dining Room with DD. I did NOT want to deliver anywhere but at the hospital. For those that wish to deliver at home, just like everyone else who goes to a medical facility, I hope your birth experience is what you wish it to be and all are happy and healthy.

@Louise_Belcher excel is my LYFE! I love it!!! I'm a financial analyst so I work in it all day every day.

@Kipperoo yes birth = medical procedure.... literally minutes after my DD was born the doctor looked at me and said "and that is why you do not have home births anymore" we would have both been dead! Now I know that is not the case every time, but why take that chance just to be able to say you had a "natural" birth.

My UO... I don't think TV time is bad for kids. We have something playing in the background all the time. Sometimes DD sits and watches, sometimes she is in her room, sometimes shes running around like a crazy person. We also watch part of a movie almost every night to wind down for bed. No shame!! If DD had any kind of issues with learning or attention it would be differnet, but she is a perfectly happy, smart toddler who has been exposed to the death tube her whole life

This may or may not be a UO depending on the crowd, but I definitely judge parents who spank their children. In my opinion, it has no positive impact and tons of negative ones. I generally try to take a "you do what you feel is best for your family" approach to parenting styles, but this is just not one I can be neutral about.

Maybe a UO but on the natural side of having a baby, I was happy to have gone without an epidural etc. I'm all for having the baby in the hospital where there are doctors and nurses who have a bounty of knowledge if something were to go wrong or what have you, but for myself, I don't believe in taking medication if I don't need it. If I feel like I need an epidural this time, I'm getting it, but I didn't for DD so I didn't get one. I hated all of the "don't be a hero, just get the epidural" comments when in reality I just know what my body can/can't take.

Apparently an actual UO is that childbirth is not a medical event. I would also not consider pooping a medical event, but I have taken medications for it and been to a doctor for constipation and hemorrhoids.

Sounds like it's semantics, though, so I'm not really interested in arguing. My main purpose in saying it in the other thread is because I went from team "cut the baby out of me / scared to death of every single thing about it / borderline tokophobic" to team "OK, TV and pop culture is wrong, I'm able to get through this / it's not as bad as it's been made to seem."

Medical event or not, our culture pumps so much misinformation regarding childbirth into us as young women that it's appalling.

@kayemjay2 Haha! I saw the second movie in the theater because of friends. It was painful. I would say maybe the show wasn't for me because it started when I was so young and I never jumped on the train, but I think we might be the same age lol

I'm with all of you guys who say it is a medical event. I had a normal pregnancy and normal delivery all the way until I'd already pushed for three hours. If I hadn't been in a hospital with an entire staff of people prepared for that, my baby would probably not have made it. We needed the nicu team and a team for me and luckily we were both fine. I don't understand why people would risk staying home so you can have some great birth experience. There were no indicators that we would have an emergency, but we did. Why risk it? And while having a baby is awesome, in my experience, it wasn't like some people want to believe where you have calm music and candles and you're totally absorbing the moment. I hope if that's what you want, that's what you get, but it hurts and the whole point is the baby so who cares if you have music and candles. Just be safe and get that baby here safely.

@beachmommy2b I agree with you about the TV, it seems to be on pretty frequently at my house and I don't think its that big of a deal. I was just talking with my husband the other day about what my son says when he wakes up first thing in the morning.. he's usually saying some of his colors, asking for ice cream, or saying Elsa because he wants to watch Frozen. He likes to snuggle and watch his movies for about 15-20 minutes in the morning when he wakes up and before he goes to bed.
