Continuing prayers! I'm glad your doctor's visits were all so positive, that you seem to have such a great medical team, and especially that baby is looking good!!
@RainyDays86 I hesitate to call it great news, but i suppose it the best of a horrible scenario. I'm glad that you're an "unexceptional" case, that's the only time I'd ever want to be called that. I really hope everything works out well and that LO stays safe and healthy throughout. My thoughts are with you, even if I'm not around on here often.

Hooray for being "unexceptional" as well as ER/PR + and Her-! I'm also excited that you have a plan in motion. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you!
Thanks ladies. And yes @PartiallyDomesticated, I have had to do some mental re-framing to consider this news great. But I guess I'm looking at it from a lens of if I have to have cancer, I'm relieved to have the kind that is the most treatable.
I'm so glad to hear that it's the most treatable type, and that you have some great doctors behind your back to get you in remission asap. I mean yeah, getting cancer in the first place has got to suck, but I imagine you can breath just a little bit better knowing all this now. At least I hope that is the case, because I totally gave a big sigh of relief. Big hugs and I will be thinking of you.
And also.. yay for a great A/S! I'm glad baby checked out okay
I'm so glad you got "good" reassuring news. I'm sorry that all this is going on, but it is reassuring that everyone seems to be very positive about the outcome.
Is there any point that they would want to take the baby any earlier to start treatment, or do they plan on letting you go until baby decides?
@bacorrea I see the MFM on Thursday and I think I'll get a better idea of that then. However, my understanding is that babies actually tolerate chemo pretty well after the 1st trimester (which is crazy, I know, but everyone has insisted it is true). Since I'm only 20 weeks the baby isn't ready to come out and won't be for a while, and they don't want to delay treatment until he/she is (that would be at least two months which is way too long to wait for treatment for this fast-growing cancer). My understanding is that they'll keep the baby in as long as he/she is doing ok and do treatment during that time. I do think that many babies whose mothers undergo chemo need to be born a bit early but they're going to keep him/her in as long as he/she is still growing appropriately and doing ok.
I'm glad a bit of your stress is relieved. I'm hoping the baby tolerates everything OK and you do too chemo can be so hard on people. Yes if the cancer has spread out to the lymph system you have to get on the treatment immediately so I'm glad your not postponing.
I'm glad to hear that you have the most treatable form of breast cancer. I admire your realism and positive outlook in all this. I'm also very glad to hear that you had a good A/S today!

That is such great news all things considered. Congratulations on being "unexceptional"! And another huge congratulations on a healthy anatomy scan!! Thank you for keeping us updated.
I've been following along and although I haven't commented until now, I have been thinking of you and praying for you. Like others said, I hate to call it great news but I'm so glad it is treatable and baby is doing well!!! I imagine having a plan and knowing it is treatable, having such an encouraging team of doctors, and a mom who truly understands makes you feel much better about the whole thing! Thanks for the update and we'll continue to pray all goes well for you and baby!
If ever there was a time to be "unexceptional", I'm glad this was it. I truly admire your attitude and your strength in this situation and am glad that you have a solid plan and support team during this time. Keeping you and your family in my prayers!
Thanks for the update. I've shared your story with DH and we continue to keep you and your family in out thoughts. I love the tone of your cautiously optimistic update.

@kns1988 took the words out of my mouth. Your attitude and realist stance is inspiring and admirable. Glad you'll have your mom through this as she's been there before (also glad to hear she hasn't had a recurrence). Oncology isn't my nursing specialty but your explanations of your diagnosis and treatment plan were clear and concise... sounds like you have a great grasp of it all and that you're in excellent care. Still sending positive vibes your way.
So happy to hear this update! I know you've still got a long road ahead of you, but I'm sure it's comforting to have a plan and a great team of experts on your side. Also, so glad to hear the anatomy scan went well!!
I was so glad to read this! I very much admire your outlook on things and think you are handling a very difficult situation with so much grace. Thinking of you and congrats on a healthy little babe!
Hi ladies, another quick update. We had our big appointment with the onocologist, radiation oncologist, and genetics counselor yesterday. As we suspected we'll be doing chemo first and it starts next Tuesday. It's going to be a whirlwind (I have an appointment to get an ultrasound of my heart today and I'm getting a port put in tomorrow) but I'm happy we're doing something sooner rather than later. We'll do four rounds of chemo three weeks apart so I'll be done March 28th, at around 31 and a half weeks. At around 34 weeks I'll have a mastectomy and then they'll leave me alone for a bit until I deliver. After delivery they said they'll let me breastfeed for four weeks and then its more chemo (another four rounds over eight weeks) and then radiation and eventually breast reconstruction. It's a crazy whirlwind but I'm so glad to have a plan and all of the doctors I talked to were totally confident for both me and the baby. The oncologist has a ton of experience treating pregnant women and said that the placenta does a great shielding the baby from the effects of the chemo - she's even had babies born to moms who underwent chemo and the babies had full heads of hair. She also said pregnant women tend to tolerate chemo better than non-pregnant women which is encouraging.
Overall I'm glad we have a plan and I'm very encouraged by all of the doctors I have met. It's going to be a ridiculous six months but I am ready for it.
I'm so glad to see your (all things considered) positive updates. It sounds like you have a fantastic medical team looking out for you and your baby. I had no idea chemo could be done during pregnancy, so interesting- these babies are so resilient! I'm glad you're able to get started ASAP. Your positive attitude is incredibly admirable and I have no doubt it will help you and baby throughout these next few months. We are all rooting for you!

So glad they have a plan for you and that your are dealing so well with this crazy hand you've been dealt. Will continue praying for you, baby, and your family.
Wow! I am so impressed and inspired by your attitude. It sounds like you have a fabulous team and a well laid out plan! You and baby are going to rock this! Thank you for keeping us updated! You are in my thoughts often.
This all sounds like quite good news -- the fact that they are so experienced with pregnant women, the fact that fetuses are shielded so well from chemo, the fact that pregnant women often deal well with chemo, and the fact that there is such a distinct plan that even allows for some breastfeeding! Best of luck through all of this and keep us updated.
This sounds like such encouraging news! Glad your plan is well laid out with what seems like very little risks to the baby and that it's going to start soon! I can imagine the waiting of results, meeting with doctors, and waiting for everything to start is agonizing.

@RainyDays86 Glad to hear things are moving in a positive direction! hopefully chemo will be easy on you, and you can have the next six months in your rear view mirror soon.
@RainyDays86 I am so glad you updated us! And that things sound like they are about as positive as can be. I have to say I had no idea pregnant women could receive chemo so that's really great. I think about you often and it sounds like you are going to kick this cancer's ass! It's great to hear that you have a doctor that's so confident and experienced with pregnant patients. Not to mention your positive attitude will get you so far also.
