Wow. Sorry for being MIA for a bit there. Spending days at the hospital makes my evenings with my boys at home pretty busy!
So the ultrasound is set for tomorrow! they put it off a bit to make sure there was a definite answer on what is going on. We are being very positive that everything will be just fine!
Anna is doing amazing! Nursing and taking a bottle like a pro. We are hoping that her feeding tube will be out in the next 4-5 days. The nurse today said that they are gearing up to giving her full feed amount by bottle to test it out and see how she does. Right now I know when she nurses she will go for 30 mins and s pretty much full from that. So my fingers are crossed that she does well and gets the tube out.
She is getting big too. She is almost a full pound over her birth weight and she is getting a double chin and chubby kissable cheeks!
Our son just LOVES his baby sister. He is so cute when he gets to visit her. He always asks if he can "pet the baby" lol and he always wants to hold her and help me change her diaper (unless it is poopy because she is stinky lmao) and take her temps. It is so sweet.
I am getting worn out trying to be enough for everyone. I never feel like I can give both kids and my husband enough attention and I feel overwhelmed by that sometimes. My H has been super awesome and tells me I'm doing a great job but it is hard some days.
@kashy17 I love that pic with your son in there too!!! You must be exhausted and still reeling from everything going on since the birth! I'm sure you are doing a great job at being there for everyone, even if it doesn't feel like it. Thanks for the update, and I'll continue thinking and praying for Anna and for you too!
@Kashy17 The photo of your son with Anna is so sweet! Totally makes me jealous, as our NICU is under visitor restrictions, so DD hasn't met her baby brother yet. That is fantastic news about her weight gain and progress in feedings. DS just went down to 1 liter of O2 with the smaller nasal cannula yesterday, so we just started our nursing process. You aren't alone in feeling overwhelmed trying to divide time between DCs needs. I had a good cry yesterday night leaving DS in the NICU but DD was so happy to have me home early enough for dinner. There is no part of this preemie mom stuff that is easy. That's why we have to celebrate every milestone to help us through! So glad to hear about Baby Anna's amazing progress. Stay strong, mama. You've got this!
@Kashy17 So glad to hear all is well and good luck tomorrow. I've been thinking of you often. I can't imagine having another lo at home, nicu life is no joke. I honestly cry every night when it's time to leave, it just feels wrong not to be with your baby. It sounds like she's making amazing progress! Caroline latched for the first time today so I'm hoping to have similar results in the coming days. Keep us posted on the u/s results.
You ladies with preemies amaze me! You are all so strong and I'm so glad your babies are doing well. I think of you all often and hope you continue to see great results!
I don't know if you ladies would be interested, but I was thinking of starting a NICU/preemie thread. Unfortunately our numbers are growing and it might be nice to have a place to talk about the ups and downs, questions, and how much we are growing to resent our breast pumps. Any interest
There is something there. But the Dr said they can not be 100% on what exactly it is right now and only time will tell if it will affect her. There is a spot on the right side of her brain that is in an area towards the back of the skull that controls the left side of the bodies movement. So if anything was to come of this the worst that could happen is she loses movement in her left leg and arm. He said that if no signs of this has shown up by the time she is 18 months old then she will probably never have any problems. And now it is just a wait and see what happens over time and keep following up with future ultrasounds to monitor things.
I was nervous before hearing the results because I feared something so much worse. I'm just happy that for now my baby is perfect and thriving and we get to bring her home soon!
@Kashy17 I'm sorry to hear about the ultrasound results, but I'm glad to hear that it's not impacting her now. I hope that the spot does not effect her as she gets older and I'm so happy that she is doing so well
@Kashy17 I hope future ultrasounds show the affected area looking better and she never shows any signs of an issue! Her picture with your son is so precious!
@Kashy17 im sorry to hear that the results were showing something there. Hopefully it wont affect her going forward & she continues to thrive! Thinking of you! Xxx
I'm so sorry the results weren't better but you're right-she's perfect-and I'm glad to hear she's coming home soon! The human brain is so amazing and can compensate for so much, especially in infancy. Prayers that 18 months come and go with no sign of a problem.
I'm sorry the results weren't better but here's hoping that everything goes great in the first 18mos and it's nothing to be concerned about. So glad you guys will all get to go home soon.

@lemieuxk I'm so glad Caroline latched! That is great news!
And +1 to the love/hate relationship of the pump!
