My UO I hate unnecessary mama bashing drama. I left my N13 FB group because it was different groups bashing each other for the way they fed, raised, did whatever for this kids.

Now this whole weed thing. That is a joke right? Doesn't seem like something a Dr would allow.

  • I bet her dr doesn't know she's smoking weed daily. Because no doctor would be okay with that.

I had had morning sickness that bad (vomiting 4-5 times a day, couldn't eat). So I went to my doctor and asked for medicine for it like a normal person!

  • My UO is that I can't stand when people intentionally have just one child if they can physically and financially have more than one. 0 or 2+ people! Only-Child Syndrome ruins people! Lol

  • @bumpybump My opinion could certainly change, since yes this is our first. But even so, I think it would take something pretty dramatic to convince me and the hubby to raise an only-child. Like maybe if one of us became severely disabled, for example. I think we could always adopt the 2nd child if the first pregnancy/birth is too traumatic.

Sorry, I knew it would be unpopular! Lol

  • @bumpybump my mom was an adopted only child.  She's for sure ruined.
  • I leave this thread for a day or two and come back to this.

    Hahahaha, awesome! +1

This. I doubt her dr. knows she smokes weed daily.

  • I'm an only. I actually have lots of good stuff I could say about it, and I never had a desire for a sibling really while I was growing up. I'm super close to my parents and I'm thankful for that relationship. But. Now that I have three kids and see the joy of sibling relationships, I feel a little sorry for myself for missing out on that. I know that not all siblings are close, especially once they get older, but there's something about always HAVING someone, you know? I didn't realize what I didn't have, and now that I see it, I feel a little sad for only children. However. For whatever reason, one is the magic number for some people. And that's a-ok, even advantageous in some ways!

Thank God I don't think my husband is ruined!
  • I was always sad I never have a sibling, but I'm definitely not ruined. And my parents wanted another, tutorials never happened so I can't blame them.
  • My midwife is aware just like they were the last time. I never said I smoked it. I consume it as needed because all of the research I did with my last pregnancy showed that there are fewer risks than the rx meds that are given without a thought. Flame me all you want, but I would encourage you to do some research yourself. Especially if you are ok with taking zofran or phenergan.
  • Diclegis is a category A drug!  Happy to help!

For reference, marijuana is category C, which is the same as phenergan.  Zofran is category B.

Have you done research on the long term side-effects of THC on a developing baby?? I'm all for medical uses for marajuana for people who aren't growing a person inside them. It doesn't matter what form your taking your doing mind/mood altering drugs while your growing a person.
People who NEED to take prescription meds for mood disorders stop while pregnant. People who are bipolar stop taking the drugs they need to feel mostly ok because of the risks to their growing baby but nah its cool your not doing any damage. It's just a plant right. No different than a cup of coffee..

  • I have. And continue to do so. And doctors prescribe medications for mood disorders during pregnancy all the time. I was put on Zoloft my last pregnancy in 3rd trip for ppd. My midwife agrees that it is just as safe as any other rx, she just can't legally tell me to do it because I live where it isn't legal. And yes, weed and coffee are very similar. Coffee is more dangerous and addictive, actually. I'm not going to continue to argue, I am a grown adult making informed decisions for myself and my child. I do it for the health of me and my baby. Without it my body is under constant stress and under nourished. Hopefully this time I won't need it past 1st tri. But I will do what is necessary to be healthy.

Did I say all mood disorders go untreated? No I didn't. Many moms to be decide to stop taking their medication during pregnancy. Obviously not all of them.
Just like all people who drink too much don't stop while pregnant. Just like people who do meth don't always stop while pregnant. Selfish people who do selfish things don't often think about what's best for their growing babies.

No I'm not saying weed and meth are on the same level just like f-ing coffee and weed aren't on the same level.....

  • Forgot which poster is having the bad experience with the unicom/b6 drug. I got it too and it is a lifesaver to me. It sucks that drugs affect people in different ways. My doctor likewise told me that's a category A drug and very safe.
DH and I only want one child. My mom is an only, DH is an only. By no means are they "ruined." I worry about our financial ability to have two, and I never got along with my sister growing up.

  • I guess we missed the part where I said my midwife is on board and even gave me info last time supporting it. Anywho. This selfish, drug doing mom will just keep on keeping on and you just keep believing what big pharmaceutical companies and the government that gets paid by them wants you to believe. Weed is the devil and I'm the same as someone doing meth while pregnant. HA.
  • @DeansGirl14 it's me that is having a worse time with B6. Glad it's working for you!

  • You insinuated it when you said selfish moms take things while pregnant all the time. You also linked moms that smoke meth with moms who take meds for mood disorders. Mood disorders can be life threatening if not treated. But it's selfish to treat your disease when pregnant. I am not high. Nor do I even get "high." I consume small amounts of thc to calm my vomiting. Not to get high. Not for pleasure. So my baby can survive actually. I use a tincture or edibles that have strains specifically meant for medicinal use and not to get high, similar to stuff used in children with epilepsy.

How about the part on the post that your referencing where I quote, said "No I'm not saying weed and meth are on the same level just like f-ing coffee and weed aren't on the same level....."

One of my best mom friends stopped taking her bipolar medicine because she was worried how it could potentially effect her baby. I was saying that if moms who do have those serious disorders decide to not take their medicine because of how it *could* effect their baby it seems like using THC would be something you probably shouldn't be on while growing a baby.

Babies manage to survive in the womb during some truly horrific times in human history-wars, famine, disease...I think most embryos will make it through a stressed out modern mom with bad nausea.

Yes, "big pharma and the government", but big pharma drugs work. We've already had discussion on the board about how helpful anti depressants and other meds can be to those who have gone or are going through PDD/PPA, or the meds that people are taking that have allowed them a better quality of life.

I'm completely down with recreational use for a responsible adult. Consistent daily use while pregnant is not responsible at this point in time. The medical research is just not there to support it. The more I read about human DNA and how easily it can be influended makes the claims that using on a regular basis won't have any impact the growing embryo very suspect.

Where are you buying your drugs? You said your state isn't legal so that means you're not going to a dispensary. Are you growing your own? How do you know what's in your weed or if it was grown safely?

    Edit: fixed a "you're"

  • @strawberrytree hi! So good to find a fellow HG sufferer! I had it was last pregnancy and it was the absolute worst period of my entire life, including my many major surgeries that I have had! It's the absolute worst,I couldn't talk our turn my head, if I even opened my mouth or swallowed too much saliva,I would throw up (and btw, for an HG sufferer, throwing up does NOT relieve the nausea)
And yes, diclegis and zofran did absolutely nothing to help!
And even then, I would have never considered using marijuana with a baby inside of me!

Joining the party late, but @mamadoaks I would love to see the info you were given. Based on my reading of the medical literature, there is not enough data to say marijuana use is remotely safe during pregnancy. The studies were underpowered to detect negative outcomes, but that does not mean it is safe. Also, I couldn't find studies on long term neuro development... that would be a big concern of mine.

It is is not fair to compare it to children with epilepsy, because in that setting, the children are under the supervision of a physician and many, if not all, are still clinical trials. Parents are not buying weed off the street and giving them to their children - at least, I don't believe they should.
