@BeachMommy2B I've never had a vaginal birth, so I don't know what that's like, but my first poop post c section took 2 hours and lots of crying haha it was horrible. Definitely take colace right away!

My dr checked my incision at 2 weeks and told me I could have sex! @h&pmomma I debated whether to tell my husband when my dr okayed sex, and decided to tell him so I didn't feel like i was lying but we definitely didn't do it for a few more weeks!
  • Uhhh 1 week post partum sex aside, how risky to be pregnant again that soon. Maybe an FFWC but no way would I have kept that bonus pregnancy. Noooope.

@BeachMommy2B - I had a difficult vaginal birth with DS (3.5 hours of pushing made all of those muscles unhappy afterwards) and was terrified of the first poop. I took as much Colace as possible as soon as the kid was out and waited until pooping was basically an emergency (it took a few days)...and it was not bad at all! So, yeah, Colace will be my best friend this time around as well, vaginal or c-section.

ETA: @Jkp7749 - Your doctor must be a man....okaying sex at 2 weeks postpartum! That's just mean.

@WombThereItIs - I wondered about that too. At 1 week postpartum, your body's nutrients are tapped out. There is no way her body was ready to nourish one baby, let alone three. Glad everything went well for her, but how scary.

  • @kayemjay2 hahaha it was!!! he was great, but I prefer my normal dr who is a woman. I highly doubt she would have given the okay! She's out on maternity leave until february-ish and I miss her so much. I saw him for my last appointment and he was talking about exercise and all sorts of things that I don't think she would have pushed as much because while I know they are good for you, I have a 18 month old and twins cooking and I'm exhausted.
  • ugghhh my phone just rang for the millionth time. I have a prepaid phone and the person who previously had this number is an idiot. He is in debt in literally every state, has tons of people trying to sue him and legal offices calling non stop on top of all the debt collectors. I get texts for him trying to give him pay day advances and small cash loans. I have people constantly badgering me on whether I am his wife or know him or yadda yadda. Now I'm getting "VIP Courtesy calls" because he has recently started taking Viagra and they want to check on how it's doing.
  • O.M.G. I am having a literal hormonal meltdown right now, because I just realized I messed up my withholdings on my paycheck for THE ENTIRE YEAR. We were pretty much counting on/hoping for a tax refund this year to help us buy baby stuff/get in a better position with finances and I think I might have just 100% F***ed it up. I know it's "only money," but I'm so annoyed/mad at myself and so worried about money now. Damn why did I have to look???
  • @Jkp7749, that sounds like a nightmare. Can you get a new phone/phone number?? That would drive me crazy.

  • @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot I'm so sorry about your daughter and your friend's child! I hope your DD is doing ok today. I hope your friend has the love and support she needs right now.

@ShadeofGreen816 that is rough, I'm sorry. Hopefully you guys can find a way to stretch things and make it work.
  • Thanks, @Rainydays86. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't completely my boneheaded mistake. Of course MH is being super supportive about it, which makes me feel even worse. If he had done this, I would be so annoyed with him!
  • @Jkp7749 Ughh I totally understand. I've had my phone number for at least 10 years and I started getting calls a couple years ago from lawyers offices and debt collections for the same man. I have never ever heard of this person so I'm thinking he put down a bogus phone number. At first I was ignoring the calls but they never stopped so I started answering them and asking to speak to a higher up every time and explained the situation and asked for my number to be removed from their paperwork. I told them I was going to start documenting every time they called after that. It has taken a good two years but the phone calls started decreasing and I haven't had one in a long time (knock on wood)!

  • @ShadeofGreen816 I just found out that my husband more than likely messed up our withholding for last year as well, so at this point now I'm just crossing my fingers we don't owe anything! Hope yours is a good outcome!

  • Ugh, @ShadeofGreen816, I'm sorry, that sucks. My husband's old company was based in another state and refused to deduct state taxes from my husband's paycheck, so we always ended up owing thousands at the end of the year. It was a real bummer. Hopefully you can get your taxes done by someone good who can minimize the damage. To anyone reading this: I'd definitely steer clear of H&R Block. They are awful.

  • @OmegaRose3 I feel you on this one. Thankfully, we have a SONOS sound bar so when my DH is watching TV too loudly I can get on the SONOS app and turn down the TV for him :) What makes it even better is it was his idea to get this sound bar (he loves his gadgets) so he can't complain when I use the technology against him.
  • Guys...applying for jobs SUCKS! I haven't had to do this for over 4 years and forgot how miserable it is!
  • @kayemjay2 luckily my mom is a tax preparer so I have that going for me. Not only do I trust her but it's free. My meltdown is over and I know all I can do is hope the numbers even out and make it work. I just don't have a time machine unfortunately!

    Omg agreed.
  • We are wanting to get a dresser/cabinet and use a changing pad on top, instead of buying a dedicated changing table.  I have been recommended the Keekaroo Peanut Silicone changer by multiple moms, which is about 18" wide.  DH and I are having a hard time finding a dresser or cabinet that is over 16" deep!  Any suggestions?

  • @BeachMommy2B I don't have anything to compare it to, but I had a C-section with my first and it did hurt but wasn't awful. Mostly it was just being swollen and using your muscles to push that was uncomfortable. So accept all the Colace and prune juice they offer you.
  • @sweaterboots:
What about something like this? Not too pricey that you couldn't embellish/paint it out/change hardware to your taste:
    https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90318805/
    OR
    https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00318598/

I did exactly what you're thinking: regular piece of furniture with a changing pad & baby items on top. I have a low IKEA chest of drawers that isn't available for purchase any more but the storage is great and the height is perfect for us. Good luck in your search!

  • I completely missed randoms yesterday so just got caught up.

@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot - Sorry about your daughter! I hope she heals well and quickly!

@Jkp7749 - Congrats on your new home! What an exciting process!

  • @SKZW we just went to IKEA this weekend and both of those are too narrow, surprisingly! I guess I'll check target sometime soon.

  • @sweaterboots I have an IKEA hemnes 3 drawer dresser and I found it to be the perfect height for a changing pad on top. I'm also pretty tall (5' 10"). But IMHO it's more versatile to use a dresser then a dedicated changing table.

Also! I ate chick Fil a at an airport this week and drank the lemonade per all of your suggestions. It was so good! Why do I not have any close to me???
  • @llenadevida900 Try the Simply Lemonade! Closest I can find at the grocery store and it's really good!

  • That's awesome @kns1988 I've never heard of a house as a benefit of a job!!!
  • @llenadevida900 - We have a bedroom full of Hemnes, and I have been thinking about swapping my changing table for the 3-drawer chest before #2 arrives. This may be a dumb question, but how do you attach the changing pad to the top? It has a strap that works with the flat changing shelf, but I don't know if I could thread it through a drawer or not.

@emilyalso: I have an IKEA low chest of drawers and use a changing pad on top. The changing pad itself has a strong nylon strap attached, so we put a screw through that right into the wall behind it. It's never sliding off! When we first attached it, I was super nervous about "what if we need to take it off" to which the hubbs said "then you rescrew it, it's no big deal" (and he's right, I'm just too much of a commitment-phobe) and honestly we've had zero reasons in the past 3 years to ever remove it. It's sat on the dresser the whole time, even during the messiest of messes. That's what changing pad covers are for!  :)
  • is there such a thing as calling your OB and asking to come in just for reassurance? I just can't stop worrying for some reason and have a history of MC so would like to just make sure all is well. My placentas are in front so I don't feel the babies most of the time (and haven't felt b at all since yesterday) and feel like gaining only 8 lbs is weird for me (I was huge fast with DD) and esp since it's double this time. I have a doppler at home but am freaking myself out thinking what if it's the same baby I'm hearing just moving around. I haven't gotten a peek at them since 16 weeks and have another three weeks until my next u/s and I just feel like 8 weeks is a LONG time not to have checked their growth. I hate worrying so much! I called yesterday to ask about the weight thing and about not being able to feel them and she was not very reassuring and just said mention it at my next appointment, but three weeks is a long time to worry.
  • @Jkp7749 I don't think there's any harm in asking to be seen. Plus if you call again maybe you'll get a different person who is more helpful.

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with looking for some peace of mind. Call again; try to get in and be seen. You'll feel better being proactive.
  • I guess I just feel silly because if they have me come in I'm sure they'd just use the doppler, but I have one at home. I don't feel like I can ask for an u/s and we just changed insurances so I'm not sure how that'd work anyway since it wouldn't be one they ordered?
  • My husband just sent me this article about introducing peanuts to infants early, and I thought I'd share it. Not -new- news, but still interesting.

@starphish18 Interesting! I always avoided peanut products until 1 year following the recommendation of my pediatrician, but we have no peanut allergies in the family. We also are still avoiding shellfish (at the peds recommendation) as myself and multiple family members have a serious reaction. Even though my oldest had a full panel blood screen for allergies and the shellfish came back clear, the pediatrician/allergist said it's one of those allergies that tends to develop later in life. But now I'm going to bring it up at the next well-check!
On the opposite side, we did not avoid any dairy products and my oldest has a Dairy Allergy... she also has eczema so she would be in the moderate/high risk category...
