I've got my baby but I'm still up. Surprised there aren't more people hanging out while feeding. LO is up for the third time and has been feeding for about an hour at a time so I'm pretty exhausted. And both my brother and his family and BIL are visiting today and so I won't get a nap
@penelope4612 take that nap girl! They are visiting the baby right? They will understand. Baby Bells also just finished her fourth nighttime feeding - I think I will take my nap during football.
Me: 38, DH: 36 Married Jan 2008 DD Baby Bells born Dec 2016 5 lbs, 12 oz, 18" so in love Due with #2 Baby Arya EDD February 2020
I was up several times but was trying to avoid screens. Last night was not his best night - he wouldn't go down until almost 1:00, then was up again at 3:00, 5:00, and 8:00. It usually takes me about 45 minutes to nurse him, change him, and take a bathroom break myself...so I'm kinda beat. Luckily I was able to get him to latch while side lying after he got up at 8:00 and we got a couple more hours of sleep that way. It's still a bit of a struggle to get him to latch that way, or leaning back, but we're working on it every day - it feels so good to be able to lie down.
ETA: He's two weeks today and I understand there's a growth spurt between 2-3 weeks, so I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of cluster feeding happening over the next week. Sigh.
@slartybartfast maybe there are others like me- still lots of lurking, but I personally don't have a lot to contribute because I'm jealous of everyone and their big healthy at home babies, and am constantly having a pity party for myself that no one wants to hear about
@gowenc@karmba me too... 10 to 12:15 constant whining and crying. i dont understand how she can fuss for that long! Shes finally sleeping on me now and i am afraid to move or set her down...
It's only 5 to 11pm here, but this child has not stopped moving ALL day... It's so painful. Stretching my full length, wiggling, sticking feet repeatedly to the top most part! I've taken a bath, drank chamomile tea and have a warm pack on my belly trying to relax it a bit... I think it wants out as badly as I want it out! I Wonder if it's as uncomfortable as I am... poor baby. I hope we sleep tonight.
hi guys! Our internet was out thanks to an overloaded fuse. All our duct work & sump pump that we got last month- the pump was blowing the fuse, the same fuse as our router! Nooooooo! But awesome DH figured it out and I am back. Also, my inlaws were visiting and I was playing host. I wish I could say it wasn't any extra work, but that wild be a lie. They are super sweet, and MIL is really helpful. But I must've heard that my baby is cold about 100 times... at least. They come from a culture where baby needs to wear like 3 layers and be wrapped in as many blankets as possible. In fact, when DD2 was newborn (in July) they wrapped her so much that she got a fever from being overheated. So even though Lucas had 2 layers on, a hat, and was wrapped in 1 blanket, it was not enough. They found blankets to wrap him in and he was sweating balls! Now he stinks from sweating so much, neck cheese. Bath time tomorrow for sure.
After checking Dr. Google I either pinched a nerve in my neck, have a nasty infection/untreated mastitis, or are even more anemic than when I left the hospital. FML

I'm joining your ranks. Ben does not let you put him down between midnight and now. He falls asleep, you put him down, he wakes up and throws a fit. He just ate and is passed out in my arms, but I'm afraid of I put him in his bassinet he will wake up again. I'm one tired mama!

My 2 week old just gifted me a beautiful and glorious 6 hour stretch of sleep. .. followed by a change my pjs, put him in the bath, and new clothes for baby blowout!
Yes @karmba! I think I'll gladly take the blowouts every now and then if he continues to go 6 hrs. The longest we have gotten from him has been 4 hrs, and that's been rare.
I'm so jealous of you guys. 5 weeks old and still going every 2 hours. Sometimes we get a 3 hour stretch during the day if we're holding her for a nap or we're out and about and she's crashed out in the car seat. I'm tired, but, here I am.
I'm here, now entering my 2nd hour of being awake after eating-blow out poop requiring major cleaning and screaming - just wide awake and not really tired - eating again. Hoping to go back to sleep soon.
Just sent DH off to Alaska for work this week. My poor mom is going to be driving me and my kids around on errands this week.
Sorry about the baby slee patterns guys! I did my time with DDs 1 & 2. DS eats and poops like crazy, but also sleeps well. Unfortunately, he still does this spit up & choke thing. So I'm always on the lookout for funny noises from him if he is lying down. He seems to be able to clear it when in any other position, but if he spits up while lying down then he chokes. Not cool. I've been sleeping with him at night in a recliner, and when he naps during the day, one of us has to be in the room with him.
Now it's time to sneak in a nap before DDs wake up!
@yellingbanana DS does the spitting up and choking deal as well. Our pedi wants us to switch to a sensitive formula. I'm hoping that works. I still freak out every time he spits up, as I know the choking is coming next.
@MissLeighAndBabyG - we had that issue for a few days and just kept trying the bassinet - when awake, when asleep, daytime naps, nighttime, etc. At first he would cry immediately, then he'd last for about 10 mins, then after a few days he'd go down for several hours. Now he'll do most of the night in there but sometimes we still have to rock him to sleep for like 20-30 mins before he'll go. Don't give up! The sleep is worth it.
Well I got a few hours but contractions keep waking me up. Now they're more frequent and harder to sleep through. If this becomes another prodromal waste of sleep I'm gonna... do nothing because there's nothing I can do
@Gizmo1231 - yeah our pedi said he could go 4 hours between feeds at night as long as he was eating every 2-3 hours during the day. Sounds great except it takes at least 2/4 of those hours to change, feed, burp and settle this guy into bed.
@jennbaylor12 I feel ya! Went 5 hours between pumping last night cuz DD actually was asleep...so much ouch. Sadly, not anymore milk than usual when I did pump. If it's gonna hurt so bad, can't I at least get some benefits?!?
This may be a post for the stupid question thread but figured I might have luck here
At what point do you get your LO up to eat in the middle of the night? She started fussing like 20 minutes ago, I waited 10 because she kept falling back asleep, then caved and brought her downstairs 10 minutes ago. She's still asleep though. Barely even fussing anymore. Wtf baby? Do i just wake her and get her to start nursing or wait til shes actually ready?
@ea301 - you should ask your pediatrician. We were told to wake LO at least every 3 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night if he wasn't waking on his own. I typically change diaper before each feed regardless of who decided it was time to eat bc it does wake him up more.
Sigh. Pediatrician does not recommend the rocknplay for sleeping but baby won't sleep in halo bassinet, he will sleep in the infant sleeper in the pack n play but that lives in the living room and has to be taken down before it will fit in the hallway. I don't want to sleep in the living room. Now that I've stopped putting him in the RnP he won't lay in it at night either. So the boy and I have reached an empasse.
Currently laying with him next to the bassinet hoping he will fall asleep deeply enough to stick in his bassinet without him noticing. No sleep for me.
