  • I'm picking up unhealthy, greasy, pizza on my drive home tonight.  And I will undoubtedly eat way too much of it.
  • @vrj0522 Skipping church youth group for the library very scandalous lol.

Also, Moana is amazing! We took my 2.5 year old the day after Thanksgiving and she sat through the entire thing and has talked about it every day and wants to hear the songs from YouTube every day. Good thing they're catchy!

Is is a confession on that I flossed for the first time in at least three months and it was like a bloodbath in the sink... or maybe just tmi.

I remember Shipleys when we lived in Texas!

I'm a Dunkin fan, and think it's absolutely terrible that's there is not a single one in the state of Washington. So over the Starbucks on every corner!

I LOVE shipleys! It's not national, unfortunately, so I make it a point to get some anytime I visit Houston.

lol, I actually didn't skip. My bad thing was that I left leaving DH with the impression that I was going to youth group instead of getting some me time.

We definitely need to go see Moana!

  • I'm grossing myself out. Last night I had sunflower seeds and an entire bag of chocolate drizzled kettle corn from Trader Joe's for dinner. ANd today I just cracked open another. The only thing stopping me from eating this whole bag is that DH is coming home soon and I don't want witnesses.

  • The schedule we keep for our toddler is literally the ONE thing that I attribute my sanity to. We have kept a fairly strict schedule from very early on and he has been a ridiculously good sleeper from 2 months on (now 2 years old). Like many of you, my inlaws just don't get it because all of the other toddlers in the family have very loose schedules. I say, you do you, but I'm not risking losing 12 hours of sleep/me time a night and a solid 2-3 hour nap every day in order to make some lame family dinner that you scheduled way too late.

My FFFC, I called out sick today to spend the day shopping and hanging out with my mom. She's only in town 1 day from cross country and I knew my boss would be annoyed about me taking last minute time off.

  • My FFFC- I find pregnancy dating really confusing. Weeks I get, I can count Friday to Friday. Its the month and trimesters. My calendars say that now, at 18 weeks I'm in my 5th month and that's so weird to me.
I 100% agree!!!! And people want months, not the weeks and I always feel weird saying 5 months.

I would almost suggest to change your chart unless you can remember that you are pregnant 1 month behind the month that you are in. So right now that you are in your 5th month, you really are only 4 months pregnant. When you were 0-4 weeks you were in your first month and yet you weren't 1 month pregnant, not until you started into the second month.

The easiest  way to count months though is to do it on the day of the month of your due date, so if you're due May 5th, on 12/5 you'll be 4 months pregnant, on 1/5 5 months, on 2/5 7 months, etc.

  • @squirtgun - my son goes down that early, too. Every time he stays with either set of grandparents, I have to listen to the barrage of questions as to why. I have to refrain from saying "because it works, that's why!!!!". My family actually got really mad over the summer. We went to Florida on vacation and they wanted to do family pictures at 730 at night and couldn't understand why I wouldn't just keep him up late. They didn't seem to understand that it's not an option! When he's ready, he's ready!

My (late) FFFC is that I've had candy bars for breakfast the last two days. Everybody christmas I make a basket of goodies for my grandfather. I put all of his favorite candy in it, and then I usually add a bunch of generic candy for my young cousins to eat when they are at his house. Looks like the cousins' haul is going to be smaller than normal this year, cuz that's where the candy bars came from!!

  • My DH has been spending nearly all his free time hunting. He does ask if I mind he goes which almost annoys me more. I don't want to be the bad wife to tell him "no" but I think he needs to spend more time with his family. He promises to spend time with us after but that usually is him napping or watching football. Only two more months of hunting season.. thank God only two months left in the season. The irony is we have had deer in our backyard all morning.
  • I was too tired to post last night. To weigh in,
-I love Frozen. The music/story somehow reminds me of Wicked. I need to apparently see moana which I didn't even know existed
    - I love donuts. And Krispy Kreme >>>Dunkin. But we have a local shop in Indy that makes THE BEST glazed donuts and they always win.
    - I don't believe in "months" pregnant. Maybe that's the nurse in me, but I'm used to referring to pregnancy by weeks. The difference 4 weeks can make is often huge and months doesn't feel precise enough.

My FFF(S?)C: I had a horrific day at work, cried 4 times. We had plans after work to go see Die Hard with some friends at a local theatre that serves food and alcohol. So I ordered a hard cider. I only drank half though because I was having the worst acid reflux. Don't even feel bad about it!
  • I now have to go out for donuts because of this thread!  :D
  • The other day (before this thread) I had a strong craving for a glazed donut. I checked Yelp for a nearby spot as I drove to work and found one that even had a drive-thru (Score!). It turned out that they used potato flour... and it was pretty good!

@Jkp7749 I live by my kids schedules! They make all the difference! Of course there are going to be times that you *have* to be flexible, but 95% of the time there's no reason why you can't stick to it. My SIL is anti schedule and can't understand why her twins don't nap together, her 2 year old is up until 11:30 every night and naps at 5pm... get your kids on a schedule!
My MIL is anti schedule as well. She's been know to plan family birthdays at 830 to include dinner, umm no that doesn't even work for adults?!
MIL likes to try to schedule our lunch dates as a late lunch, which for her is 4pm. Um, that's almost dinner time for my toddler. Nope.

  • Dunks or bust.

As for schedules, I keep a loose schedule. I don't put DD down quite as early as most, but we also don't have to be up early to get out the door since I SAH. Also, DH travels for work and he calls after he gets in and settled, and I want DD to be able to talk to him and not be rushed off to bed. So I take her up to her room by 8:30pm, and she's awake between 7-8am daily and she sleeps through the night with the occasional wake-up but she usually goes back to sleep on her own. Rarely does she sleep much past 8am. Breakfast is casual, but it's milk and several Danimals yogurts every day for her. Lunch is within an hour or so window, as is dinner. She's just never been a napper at home. She used to fall asleep in my lap nursing, and I could transfer her to PNP/RNP/etc., but that slowly stopped being successful. There's no quiet time or laying down together until she falls asleep, it lasts about 10 seconds until she's up and taken off. Now she only gets a nap if she falls asleep in the car. So if I head out at the right time of day, I take my cross stitch and stop at Dunks and park while she sleeps.

  • @nda_roxybabe I always felt it was strange being 9 m pregnant a whole month
  • Didn't see a new FFFC for last Friday so I'm putting it here:
I bought DD new Christmas boots and in the process of trying to get them on her feet I punched my 1.5 yr old in the face. Definitely not my shining moment as a mom this week.
Omg I'm dying. Thanks for the laugh. This is totally something I would do.

I may or may not do this WAY too often as I'm tightening older daughter's car seat. It's bad.
  • @Squirtgun @bacorrea  I'm glad I'm not the only one...I swear the second I feel like I've got this motherhood thing down, I do something like that. On the upside I didn't give her a black eye!
