  • Everything sounds great! If I was in bed rest for hopefully about a month id try to finally learn to knit and crochet for real. Books are a good idea too because you can get sucked in for hours! Is there anything you're interested in learning? TV is always easy but I know that can get mind numbing. Parenthood is great, shameless is entertaining, or parks and rec and scrubs are good for easy watching!
  • Glad to hear you're doing well! If you haven't seen Pretty Little Liars I'd recommend it for a binge watch. It's "so bad it's good" tv - I watched it during late night nursing sessions with my last little one.  Entertaining and escapist - just what I think you'd be looking for in the hospital.  Hang in there! Every extra hour and day is doing great things!
  • I'm glad that baby is staying put for now and I'll be sending positive thoughts hoping that you make it to 34 weeks!

Some adult color books might be fun! They are super relaxing for me and good for when I want to keep my mind busy but not think too hard if that makes sense.

  • Such good news! Hooray! Get cozy in there little one, you're staying put for a while.

My my biggest binge recommendations are Doctor Who and Orphan Black, both on Amazon Prime. I don't think you need to be a sci for person for these shows-they have a broad appeal. On Netflix we're enjoying The Crown. If you never watched it before, Friday Night Lights could also be good.

There's a fun smartphone app called Duolingo that "gameifies" learning a language. Pretty much any language you can think of is on there, and it's free.
  • @lemieuxk I'm so glad to hear everything is stable.  Keeping you and baby in my thoughts to make it to 34 weeks!

If you're looking for some shows here are some I really like:
    Catastrophe (on Amazon Prime)
    Gilmore Girls
Parenthood (but be prepared for lots of feels)
    Call the Midwife
    Breaking Bad
    Sons of Anarchy
    Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
    The Good Wife
    Parks and Rec
    30 Rock

You could take up knitting, it's a great way to pass the time.  I learned on YouTube videos!

Some adult color books might be fun! They are super relaxing for me and good for when I want to keep my mind busy but not think too hard if that makes sense.
I also have a free app for adult coloring on my phone if that would interest you...It's called "Colorfy" you just click on the space and it gets filled with color! I'm too much of a perfectionist for actual coloring, so if I mess these up I can just click the undo button lol.
  • I'm so glad the baby is staying put for now!!

Yay for for steroid shots and 34w babes. My DS was born at 34+1 and he is a happy, healthy 2.5yo now. We had only 11 days in the  NICU, which was all thanks to the steroid shots.
  • What kinda stuff do you watch? Don't watch depressing tv that's my bedrest advice
  • Glad to hear baby is staying put for now and that the NST results are coming back normal!

Do you have a tablet or laptop? If so, I HIGHLY recommend Westworld on HBO. Even if you don't have HBO at home, you can sign up for a free one-month trial of HBO Now and watch whatever you want streaming for that month.

Netflix shows (assuming you have not already watched some/all of these):
    Gilmore Girls
    House of Cards
Gossip Girl (I'm not ashamed - it's definitely a "so bad it's good" type of show)
    Orange is the New Black
    Arrested Development
    Stranger Things

And I have not watched it, but I have heard Black Mirror is really good - it's not a serial, you can pick and choose which episodes to watch (I've heard it compared to the Twilight Zone).

    Other activities:
    +1 to coloring books
+1 to knitting/crocheting (or learning how)
    +1 to books

What kind of books are you in to? I am a bit of a bookworm, I might be able to give you recommendations :)

  • @lemieuxk the stat about delivering within 48hrs of pprom applies to those whose water broke due to infection, I've been told. So yay that that isn't your situation!!!

When I was on bedrest they wanted me as flat as possible, not sitting up. That made it hard to knit, color, or do things where you had to hold things up. Are you able to sit up?

Anyhow, my local library had free ebooks I read on my phone. I also liked stupid app games to pass the time. Hay Day is a fun & free farm game. If you have Netflix, I love watching Parenthood (6 seasons to watch).

    Best wishes!!

  • @lemieuxk so glad to hear your update!!  I got really emotional hearing about your dog visiting.  It never even occurred to me how much I would miss my dog if I were suddenly hospitalized for weeks.  It's great that you get to look forward to a little visit!

I saw that you got a recommendation above to watch Catastrophe and while it is positively EXCELLENT, I would not recommend watching it in your current situation.  It could be triggery re: pregnancy complications.
  • @NiceyMeany makes a good point re: scary tv pregnancies id also avoid grey's for that reason and call the midwife.
  • Whew! With all the new responses my heart jumped into my throat a little. I don't have much to add except that I'm so glad little one is staying put so far!
  • Great news! So happy to hear all is well
  • Hear, hear! So glad to hear that baby is staying put and no signs of active labour. Also,  so lovely that your dog is visiting. The best kind of therapy.

As for tv recommendations, if throw Futurama and Bob's Burgers into the mix. They're not everyone's taste but they are light and there are a million episodes.

Also consider audiobooks of favourite books! Sometimes having a book read to you by some lucious voiced British person is just the thing.
  • TV recommendations: I'm hooked on dateline NBC mysteries and of course there are tons of holiday movies on right now....so that could be a time filler
  • So glad things are going well.  Each day makes a big difference!  When I did bedders last time around I watched Dexter, breaking bad, and something else but I can't remember.  I was at home and was able to get into somewhat of a routine.  Hoping you find something similar to bide your time.  I took advantage of the fast internet compared to home too. If access to Netflix I would recommend Call the Midwives if you haven't already heard of it.

  • That is so cool you can bring your dog! I'm glad everything is going well. When is your next ultrasound?
  • @lemieuxk yay puppy visits! and yay rescue pups! Do you have a cute pic of him to share?
  • @lemieuxk Awwww, that's so great!! I also have a skittish rescue who would probably be really nervous, but I'm sure it was worth it for both of you! I second the request for a picture, if you have one that's accessible.

That is so, so wonderful they allow your dog to visit! I know that when I traveled for work for 6 days last month, I missed my pup so damn much (probably more than I missed my H, if I'm being honest). I can't imagine not being able to see him for weeks on end. What a great hospital to allow that, and your dog sure looks happy in that pic!

ETA: My dog also does the head-throw for chin scratches, and it's my favorite thing ever. His ears fall back and he looks like a bat, and you can see his teeth. I call it upside-down-dog-face.

  • I loved
Breaking Bad, and then the spin off Better Call Saul.
    OITNB.
Empire is pretty good to binge watch, and of course anything on Bravo.
  • Thinking of you @lemieuxk! :)
