I can't believe it's December already. The time is seriously flying by
I like the idea of an ornament, I might try and find something with his name on it. I have to buy a Christmas sock too, they personalise it in the local shop so why not!
I had some picture ones made at Costco for the grandparents. They say baby's first Christmas and they're metal. For us, I bought the empty glass ornament at Hobby Lobby and put in her first hat and our bracelets inside. I figure its cute way to always see them around Christmas.
We made it over the weekend & it turned out cute! The ink pad that came with it didn't specify that it was infant-safe, though I feel like it kind of HAD to be considering its purpose, but being overly cautious I used a different one that I already had. It took me a lot of tries to get a print I could actually use in the ornament...it's NOT easy getting two fingerprints and in the shape of a heart from a 4 1/2 month old! I probably should have just waited for him to be asleep to do it but I wanted the memory of us doing it together.
I still want to get him another one that says Baby's First Christmas though, and I think I'm also going to do the same as @babycakesday and put one of his newborn hospital hats inside of an empty glass ornament.
I made this for DD1 from the bottom of our first tree. DH drilled the hole and I modge podge the picture on. DH cut off the bottom of this year's tree so I can make one for DD2.
I made this from DD1's handprint. Thank you Pinterest! I made 3, 1 for us, 1 for Nana and 1 for her Grandma. I think I will do something similar with DD2's foot this year.
Love these ideas!! We had a few people buy us some ornaments. Two we can put a picture in and one just says baby's first Christmas. I really like the idea of doing something personalized!! Might have to steal a couple of these.
holly142 We cut off the bottom of our tree too!!! Did you let the slice dry out before writing on it? I love the idea of putting the photo on the back...I hadn't thought of that! My husband is currently deployed though...I feel like our holiday photos (and really and pics from 3-9 months) look lonely
Now that we are done having babies (DH got snipped yesterday) I want to buy nice Christmas stockings. I grew up with my parents having stockings as well as us kids. DH grew up with only kids having stockings. What do you guys do? It would be nice to only buy 2 because they are expensive but I don't want to regret it later on.
I love the handprint idea! DH and I do a Lenox ornament tree, and buy each other the annual from a certain set each year (a family tradition from DHs mom). So I bought him a personalized Lenox ornament and we picked which set we will be buying for him.
@Backbypopulardemand I got a random request!! She's following like 1200 people. Yet only has 200 followers. That's always a red flag to me. That and the fact I had no clue who she was, haha!
@KASG somehow she must have stumbled upon our spreadsheet because that is the only place I have ever shared mine. I actually messaged her and asked who she was haha
Thanks @Backbypopulardemand! I think I got that one too. Why are people so creepy?
I got it too!! Weird. Did she say anything back? How're you supposed to stalk people all over the country (and world)?! I definitely said no to that one.
She followed me but I didn't know who she was so I didn't follow back. I don't think I included my name on the Instagram thread? I shared mine on Facebook so that's strange. Let us know if she replies Lindsey.
I know the girl on Instagram, she's an ex girlfriend of a friend of mine. she followed me the other day and then must have just followed everyone on my list trying to get more followers or something? sorry that's super weird!
Maggie just rolled from back to belly 3 times in a row! And then decided to roll back to her back. She's going to be constantly moving now!

Help!!! Elise has a horrific diaper rash from diarrhea. I switched to disposables and have been using desitin but it seems to be making it worse? I have tried other creams, lots of naked time, baths with baking soda. I don't know what to do. There are open sores on her butt now.
@shaylalr We really like Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Our pediatrician had also recommended putting Aquaphor or vaseline on top of the Desitin and to also change the diaper frequently (about every hour unless the diaper is completely dry)

@shaylalr agree with pp. My DD had a horrible bleeding rash when she was a month old. We did lots of naked time and desitin too... nothing seemed to work until we switched to Boardreaux's Butt Paste. Also we stopped using regular wipes while she had the open sores because we felt like they hurt her more. We just used wet paper towels to clean her up... then dried it with a super soft towel. We always put the cream on her while she was totally dry.
Edit to add: Ugh... just realized this was a couple of days old... I hope she's feeling better!!!
Normally I try to do my grocery shopping as quickly as possible when I have DS with me (which has only not happened once). I go in with a list and a game plan. Yesterday was my first time going since enrolling in WIC. I thought I had done enough reading and preparing but I did not. Our state has an app that allows you to scan products to see if they're eligible. Thank goodness for that because I would've failed miserably otherwise. DS was not impressed with the amount of time I had to take checking a million types of tuna and produce.
It is still terrible. I did aquaphor and butt paste like you guys suggested. It is just getting worse. I think she may be allergic to zinc oxide! I am going to try just using aquaphor today and see what happens. I have been using cloth wipes with just water as well.
@shaylalr Q had open sores and it was from acidic poop. I stopped eating tomatoes for a few days and it went away! Now I can eat tomatoes but I just have to change him right away. Maybe something you're eating/in her formula is giving her acidic poop and diarrhea? Unfortunately, nothing worked for us except me eliminating tomatoes I hope you can get it cleared up! It's hard to see your baby with this rash
@kmurdock925 I haven't tried cornstarch! I have been doing baking soda. I'll give cornstarch a try.
M had a horrible rash like this a couple months ago. I tried all the above mentioned things. After almost 3 weeks I threw in the towel and took her to the doctor. The only thing that ended up helping was this prescription. Within 24 hours I could already tell a difference. Hope it gets better! @shaylalr
shaylalr I use cornstarch as a baby powder alternative when I see she may be starting to get a little rash and under her arms get red from time to time too (she is a big sweater). My mom said they would use cornstarch and if we got bad rashes they would put it in the tub (aka: cloud bath) and it worked well. Can also use water to make it like a paste. Hopefully it helps! If you have to get an rx you may be able to use it as preventative mx once it clears up
@shaylalr I swear by Burts Bee's all purpose ointment. DS had super acidic poop and his bum turns red easily, even if he's changed promptly. It also works on rashes from drooling and sweat.
Her rash was from acidic diarrhea. It is from a virus she caught from her cousin. Her cousin is all better now, but Elise still has a bit to go.I might call her pediatrician for prescription cream then!! They gave me a prescription for yeast infection cream but that hasn't been helping at all. I'll definitely try the cornstarch thing in the bath though. My mom told me to put cornstarch on as well, but the pediatrician told me that can be a breeding ground for bacteria to grow and not to use it.
shaylalr that is interesting/good to know about the breeding ground. I hadn't heard of that before. It seems that drying up moisture would prevent the breeding...but I also didn't go to med school! hahaha
Lucian has bronchiolitis not to be confused with bronchitis ...he just got over being sick in October. Some of these babies at daycare are always sick. It's like a petri dish of germs day in and day out. I wish I could be at home with him. I know this is expected I'm just sad to see him like this.
@Jodi1980, our LO has bronchiolitis too! Her cough has gotten alot better, but when I took her in last week he said it could last another 2-3 weeks. The daycare teachers said every baby pretty much is sick with something right now, and they're having to deal with a lot of diaper blowouts due to all the antibiotics everyone is on! In a way I'm glad LO is getting all the sickness right now, so she can build up a good immunity.
