Anyone else going through leap 5? I think this one is the worst so far. I'm having fun watching her new developments, but man. The grumpiness. She gets very upset when she can't do something by herself.
Sleep? What's that? I am hoping it takes a bit for both the gripe water and amber necklace to work their magic. After getting up every 45 minutes from 8pm to 1am, I caved and slept upright holding ds. We slept 4 solid hours. It was extra special hearing my husband and dog snoring as I desperately tried calming ds down.
I slept without Julia in the room last night and survived. I didn't check on her every five secs like I thought I would have. I slept better, too (which I totally need right now.)
Yay @babycakesday. That's good news. I'm dreading the transition to his own room, more for my sake than his. Haha. My sis-in-law says I'll sleep better and maybe he will too since he won't smell me and wake to nurse. I'd really like not to wait up every 3 hours or less. Glad you got some sleep.
We were going to try to transition William to his own room tonight but when I burst into tears at the idea of him waking up scared in the middle of the night wondering where's mommy my husband called it off. I have no idea how I'm going to do this.
@jennyleigh16 have you started transitioning with naps? That's what I did. It made It easier because I got used to having him in his room and he got used to his crib. You also could move him to his crib and sleep on a blow up mattress or sleeping bag on his floor for a night or two. Or start him in his room and after his fist wake up move him back to yours. Good luck, mamma!
On a separate note...my scattered brain just went so screwy that I took the dog's medicine! I called poison control and, thankfully, both pills can be given to humans and nursing moms!! I feel like an idiot. I thought I was taking my multivitamin and fenugreek....DOH
I expected to have a meltdown transitioning her and being so uncomfortable. I accepted it shockingly easier than I thought I would. We're all happy in our own space, haha! She really likes her crib. And we really like not walking on egg shells in our room. But I'll be honest, if she would have accepted the PnP better, we'd probably still have her in our room!! Good luck to all of you working on transitioning!!
We're still at the in-laws for the holidays and there's a spare room next to ours so I decided to give the sleeping in seperate bedrooms a try. In our home her bedroom is on the other side of the house so I don't think I'm quite ready foe that yet.
I didn't think either one of us would sleep better after we transitioned to separate bedrooms but it's crazy how much better we all are sleeping. Especially LO. It's difficult to do, I hated it. We did it at 3 months and I cried many a times. Hang in there mamas!
I feel like we've been backsliding like crazy on sleep rather than getting close to transitioning! He's slept through the night since week 5, like 10pm-7am good, but the last few weeks have been up every few hours either from gas or hunger or just waking up for no apparent reason. The last few nights he's been up and inconsolable to the point where I have had to let him sleep with me in bed. I have a feeling his teeth are getting close to cutting, so maybe that's what's going on, but I really am not sure. I gave him a chilled teething toy to chew on which helped until it warmed up. Then I gave up and gave him a small dose of Tylenol tonight and he finally fell asleep and thankfully seems fast asleep still so here's hoping he'll sleep better tonight...

@winnie1122 we have the same problem. Q used to sleep through the night and when he is teething he is up every few hours. Luckily for us, his teeth popped through so he is back to being a good sleeper but it took them coming through to help. We would do Tylenol when it was really bad and that seemed to help. I hope that's what it is for you and your LOs teeth come through soon!
@FTM53 the only way he naps right now is on me when he falls asleep nursing. I've tried crib or pack and play naps and he might fight for 30 mins and then nap for 15. Then he's even worse at night because he hasn't slept all day. I'm hoping fixing overnight sleep helps naps too. He's 6 months today and we just started him on some puree so I'm hoping it keeps him fuller at night and he sleeps better. Who the hell knows?
@jennyleigh16 Oh, mamma! I'm sorry. Thats rough! Id maybe try camping out in his room for a few days while he gets used to it. Or legit go have a drink at the local bar at bed time and let Daddy handle CIO until it only lasts a few minutes (after 3 nights we are now under 10 minutes of crying/complaining before LO is completely out). Good luck! I know hearing him cry and not getting him is the hardest thing to do.
@LDSJM123 I think it was the hottest month BECAUSE we kick ass
We were at my parents' for Christmas this year. Since they live in a house and not a crappy apartment, we were able to let E CIO in her p&p in the other room without worrying about pissing off the neighbors. Since then, she's still been taking about a half hour to an hour to fall asleep on her own, but she's doing it! And she's been staying in her own bed. It's been this way since Friday. We just got home tonight and so far so good. Fingers crossed!!
Any of you have plans for NYE with LO's? We usually go to friends every year before we had LO now I kind of want to include him preferably at an early event during the day. I think I read about "Peepfest" near us where they have a peep drop like the ball in Time Square
NYE was supposed to be hosted at my house because last year pre-baby we thought it would be easier to not have to leave (hubs is currently deployed)...now i'm totally stressing over it with her terrible sleeping right now and cutting her first teeth... Now I'm thinking it is easier to leave somewhere else and go home to a quiet empty house where she *might* sleep than it is to have people at the house. literally just asked if we can re-locate...sorry not sorry??
We're the hosts. Much like @kmurdock925 I thought that sounded easiest. I'm hoping the sound machine cranked up helps mask the noise downstairs. Her room couldn't be further from our living room... but I'm sure she'll still hear some noise. Ugh!!
We're going to my in-laws for NYE, about 15 minutes away. We're over there every weekend anyway They have a p&p so we'll put her to bed until we leave.
We are hosting, just a couple of friends. We'll be watching the Ohio State vs Clemson game, playing cards against humanity, and just low key hanging out. I'm making gobs of Mexican food and a pitcher of margaritas.
@LDSJM123 I'm drooling at the thought of gobs of Mexican food and margaritas, especially after seeing all the amazing food you've posted about on here! These allergies have me craving cheesy delicious goodness of all kinds right now....forbidden fruit I guess

We usually go to the in laws for NYE and play board games and eat junk until the ball drops, but I don't really want to go anywhere or do anything this year. Holidays and teething have me worn out and bedtime has been a fight lately, so I don't feel like dealing with that at someone else's house and then having to pack him up and bring him home after midnight just to have to try to put him to bed again. So probably welcoming in 2017 with pjs and Netflix

@kmurdock925 I'm jealous of you being able to relocate your party!! No hope here. But I did convince the hubby to buy an outdoor heater. We have a TV outside and some furniture. Maybe if they have enough champagne I can convince them all to hang outside. It was probably a poor choice offering to host...but I just keep telling myself it's just one night. We will survive!!

Yeah @LDSJM123.. I'm thinking there needs to be a post with your NYE recipes. Just sayin
Y'all are the sweetest! Here's the menu with links.
-7 can taco soup -Salsa -Guacamole- I buy this at ALDI because it's delicious. And I'm not above a shortcut if it tastes as good or better than what I make. I'll have it in 2 bowls. 1 regular and 1 topped with pineapple habanero jam. -Mexican Corn Dip (TBD if I make it.) -Slutty Brownies -Perfect Margaritas
Anyone use essential oils? I'm interested in starting to use them. I have a friend that sells Young Living but they are so spendy! I've done my own research and found Plant Therapy brand. The quality is good and I much prefer the price point. Especially considering I'm not sure if I'm even going to like them. But do cheaper oils work as well? Just curious about others experiences with essential oils.
@LDSJM123- I use essential oils! I started using them in my reed diffusers because we try to avoid artificial fragrances. I mix almond oil and lavender essential oil together. As long as it's 100% essential oil, I don't care too much about brands. When I finish the oils I have, I'll research it before buying more. My mom bought me a diffuser and 4 new oils for Christmas. I love it! It mists into the air 3 times a day. Makes my home more relaxing. I'm going to start using the oils in my cleaning sprays.
@LDSJM123 I 'use' them, lol. My mom is super into them so if she gives me something and tells me what it's good for I use it. I have a diffuser that I like to use occasionally, especially with lavender oil in the spring and a Christmas blend at Christmas time (which I sadly ran out of this year, and since it's YL I don't think I want to spend the money to replace it). The one I use for more than fragrance is the Thieves oil from YL in a humidifier/diffuser my mom is letting me borrow. It helped a lot when LO had a cold and bad congestion, plus it's supposed to be good for helping you get over sickness apparently. We had a lot of sickness this fall and winter so I've had it diffusing a lot this year and it seems to help.

@LDSJM123 I think if you are diffusing the oils then any brand works but if you are ingesting it then I would go with a higher quality brand just to be safe! I used to use oils for EVERYTHING! But I have only been diffusing since I am nursing.
I've come to realize that you ladies are much more pertinent and relatable than my FB friends. I check in regularly. Usually 4-5x a day while I'm pumping or nursing. And I get bummed when there are no updates. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
My FB is full of a mix things old people share and pointless videos. Neither of which interest me much, haha! I do find myself more interested in a lot of these board convos than anything I discover on FB, lol!!
I'm the same! I was primarily a lurker before I had Q but now that I'm participating I check it all the time for new posts! It's nice to have this community of women and moms who are supporting each other instead of tearing each other down. I see so many mom friends of mine judging each other, which is why I don't post much on Facebook, and it makes me sad. So thank you ladies for being awesome and supportive!
Same here. Besides my best friend, none of my friends have kids or even are thinking about having them. So I feel really disconnected with them lately.
Oh I can't remember which board we talked about how Baby J was drinking a few ounces every hour. Well since that day she has been drinking 4-6oz every 3-4 hours. I have no idea what happened, but apparently just mentioning it fixed the problem.
Im ready to say peace out to 2016, ladies. I feel like the only good thing that happened this year was the birth of my beautiful babies. A friend from high school had her 9 week old pass away on Christmas morning and my heart hasn't stopped hurting since. Not entirely sure what happened, but I think it was SIDS. So sad and scary.
