We're at my local ComiCon this weekend and I thought all you rabid TWD fans would be interested to know that the presence of Jeffrey Dean Morgan nearly broke the whole thing yesterday. They oversold autographs with him (for over $100 each!), and some people had to wait in line for over seven hours to get theirs. Spirits became low, which is a risky proposition in a mob of people in which at least 10% are carrying plastic baseball bats. People were threatening to call the fire marshall and say the place was overly packed (it wasn't, but it was at capacity and very crowded) and at least a few passed out in line or had real panic attacks and had to be taken out. By all accounts he was a really cool guy and stayed way after his allotted time to make sure that everyone who waited got an autograph.
Lucky for us nobody we wanted to see was that popular. 15 minute wait for the wonderful Arthur Darvil, and today we'll meet Billy Dee Williams from Star Wars.
This is why at our local comic con Denver ComicCon, we buy the speed passes, for Stan lee people were waiting in the line for hours. They did not get to the 7 hour wait time though, that is just crazy.
We got speed passes too @skiingstark. I don't think I could handle this without them. It's pretty physically taxing on me as a pregnant person. I walked over six miles yesterday according to my phone and I hurt all over after.
I guess for JDM even the speed pass wait was 1-3 hours.
We took the kids to the children's museum in Boston yesterday and they really liked it.
Thank you DS does feel better but now I'm the one who has a cold. I guess that's what you get for snuggling a coughing and sneezing toddler all day for 2 days! i don't feel awful, just a bit of a runny nose and lost my voice. I foresee lots of honey/lemon tea in the next few days.

@NiceyMeany . If you already have a HE set, ignore me... We got a high efficiency set (LG Tromm ) maybe 2 years ago. I like it okay, it's a washer and dryer. My husband hates these things like they've betrayed him, just because the dryer's slow (like, 80 minutes to dry a towel load). If I could go back in time, I would tell him beforehand that electric HE units can be really, really slow... and we would both like it fine. They were craigslist specials, but Black Friday is good timing; go you.
Also, @PerraSucia I am glad that your son is recovering!... but I started cracking up to snot "dripping down his face now".
@NiceyMeany no Samsung! I hear they're blowing up now too. My MIL also hated her LG appliances. We have a pretty new Whirlpool set that we're happy with and o recommend Lowe's.
@niceymeany I honestly hear from most people to go as basic as possible. We got ours last year and we chose the cheapest option maytag and it's been perfectly fine. Everyone we know who's gone fancier is upset about one thing or another.

@PerraSucia yeah I think we have to have a front-loader to stack, which is okay with me because I am both short and awkward, and I function very poorly with my top-loader.
To @MommaBean's point, it's only the top load HE Samsung that are starting on fire...I've had front load Samsung ones for three years now and I'm generally happy.
I have a whirlpool cabrio that's a top loader and huge and I love it. It sucks to get the last few socks out of the bottom when you are 5'4'' and pregnant but I make it work.
I have a front loader as part of a stacked pair. Now, instead of bending over to get stuff, I squat in front of the washer and try to throw stuff up into the dryer. It usually works pretty well but I fell on my butt the other day. Then, I sat there with hands full of wet laundry, wondering how I was going to get back up before DH saw the ridiculous site.
We have side by side front loaders but have the drawer storage things underneath so they are raised up. Otherwise they would be super awkward since I'm taller.
We spent the weekend visiting my parents in Cleveland. It was nice to do something different for a few days and thankfully it's only a two hour drive because I think any longer would get uncomfortable pretty quickly! I did probably indulge a little too much in eating since I don't get to have those places very often. The highlight was Swenson's, the drive-in burger place they have up there. @Partyof6? May be the only one on here who potentially has eaten there before but it's delicious and I love how old school it is - you pull up & park, they run out for your orders, and they bring it out on trays that hang on your car windows
Last night my H and I were driving home with the dog in the backseat when a car trying to pass a tractor trailer on the other side of the road came barreling toward us at about 60 mph. H swerved into the breakdown lane and he flew by us, but it completely freaked me out. I've already been struggling with anxiety this whole pregnancy (specifically around safety and something happening to a loved one). I'm so grateful we were fine, but I've been feeling unsettled ever since.
Glad you're all okay @lemieuxk I've been weirdly on edge since being pregnant too. And that driver sounds like an idiot. I hate people like that who have no regard for others.
I despise our front loaders, especially the washer because I have to do a cleaning cycle so often due to the stink. Gross. But they're brand new and came with the house so getting a more basic set is unrealistic right now.
@lemieuxk that's so scary! I'm thankful you all are ok, but I'm sure that got your heart pumping in the worst way. (I didn't mean for that to rhyme)
I've been on a Madmen binge the past week or so to zone out- I've always had a thing for 50's/60's housewives, and yesterday Dad and I were at a charity thrift ship after donating some stuff and I picked up this vintagey bad boys for 50% off
I have no idea what to do with them, nor do I like stuff cluttering up my counters lol. But I adopted them, so they're staying put ,)
So pretty much all of western NC is in a state of emergency due to uncontrollable forest fires and now it has reached my county as well as all the surrounding counties. I can see the fires on the mountains from my window and the smoke is so heavy it's causing a huge smelly haze and every time I step outside it burns your eyes and smells like burnt wood. The fire dept just issued us a warning to have our necessities packed and ready to go in the event that we have to evacuate. And I just got my new bed and living room furniture. How freaking fantastic.
Thanks guys! Hopefully we'll get some rain and be able to get it under control soon. They suspect it was arson which is so so sad. Why would anyone be so sick? @Gretchypoo they haven't said anything in particular about the smoke, I guess because there's nothing anyone can do. I've been staying inside and avoiding going outdoors as much as possible because that can't be healthy, especially with how thick it has gotten over the past few days.

I'm in the Canton/Akron area - we love swensons!!
Me too! And I have never been there. I feel a little ashamed. Well I'm a transplant from Cincy, we've lived here for about 6 years though. I'm trying to make myself sound better
@LivingLaVidaGinger How scary, hope you guys stay safe and get some rain!! I always wonder what a-hole thinks it's cool the light anything on fire. Get a life
@yogadevil if we stay inside it isn't noticeable. We've kept all the windows closed and made sure to shut the doors as quickly as possible. If I start noticing my eyes getting irritated while being indoors, we'll definitely have to make a trip to grab an air purifier, but so far so good!

@leslie1331 you should definitely try it sometime when you have a craving for burgers! As cheap as normal drive thru food but 10 times better!
@LivingLaVidaGinger we've had a few fires in the Chattanooga area (+1 to Arson, also), but it doesn't sound like we're as smokey at our house as you are. It's been so strange for me, since fires always seemed like a far-away problem for the west coast. FX for rain! Our dryer vent was a surprise inlet for smoke, lol. Keep the dryer door shut too
